Another wonderful and spectacular review KP i love it, and i'll admit even though the episode itself wasn't that great, it was still good to hear Patton Oswalt reprise the role of Quibble Pants again after all this time, plus his wife and daughter did just an amazing job voicing Clear Sky and Wind Sprint.

I forgot the mom and child duo's names so keep that in mind if you read this. The point wasn't exactly for Quibble to be himself so much (he even goes as far as saying he's tried that and the kid's not interested) as for him to take an interest in what the kid liked by asking her about it and learning from her rather than acting like he knew all about it or was good at it to impress her. You don't have to impress people to gain a common interest, and sometimes, all you have to do to gain a shared interest is ask what they like about it, how it works, etc. It's a good technique to get along with your kids from what I've heard, and having been a kid once myself I could imagine it would've been a better way to connect with my parents if they ever bothered trying to understand my interests. Also, it's pretty clearly shown throughout the episode that Quibble isn't doing this to impress the mother. She even tells him multiple times he doesn't have to try so hard. He's doing it because she's special to him and if they do get married he'd like to get along with their kid and because any relationship with a mother can be pretty awkward in general if her child doesn't approve of you. It's kind of like being in a relationship with someone whose parent(s) doesn't/don't approve of you. I mean, I can see the trying to get in your partner's pants thru their kid angle, but it doesn't make sense if your partner is already totally into you to the point where they vocally disapprove of the fact that their kid isn't giving you a chance.

Like "Surf and/or Turf" last season, this episode did a great job handling a situation many kids watching the show would have to deal with. Quibble's return and all the continuity nods were terrific as well.

My Commentry about this Episode:This Episode is really unique, not only aims for the kids and brony fans, but also the parents. This hits many children and adults hard because they can relate to the situation, and this really is a mature episode and not one of those basic lessons, but the learnings that you learn through your life

Yeah, even though we've seen episodes like this one, I still give this one a thumbs up. I like how this episode gives us a more deeper moral, cause these sort of things in real life are pretty serious. I do find this to be another really creative episode for this season. Nice review KP, I'm looking forward to the next one! ^^

I really liked this episode because it reflected the same situation with my (Step)Dad and I. My Dad started dating my Mom when I was 9. He and my brother bonded over sports and he really tried to bond with me over my interests. He didn't read comics or books and didn't care much for video games that weren't sports oriented. He tried to get into them but it never really happened and we were in a stagnant relationship. It wasnt until he got a car later that year that we bonded over music and became closer through concerts and movies the songs were featured in. It's been 16 years and I've never had such a stable relationship. I became more considerate and confident. And he became more open and understanding. I hope Quibble can integrate into the family and have a strong and healthy relationship.

Good review KP. Anything bad that happened to you, remember that you have people who love you and accept you as you are. Back to the episode. I am a big fan of episodes about step parents. (That's one of the reasons why I liked series such as 'As told by Ginger' and 'Rocket Power'). I think this episode was very good. Knowing the 'behind the scenes' makes me like it even more.

The episode overall was okay, but it was really cute that an actual kid was voicing the kid and that it was actually Patton Oswalt's family that voiced the characters in the show. I imagine that he voiced Quibble Pants back in Season 6, his daughter loves the show, he sent in a request that if they ever needed him for an episode again, he would love to get her and the rest of the family involved, and it's really cool that they made it work.

Couldn’t agree more. My “mane” issue its the episode, is that I wished we had seen more of Wind Sprint’s father, and what happened to him. I know MLP can’t really do death, but it can be subtle. I do wonder how much it affected poor Wind Sprint. Yeah, if MLP had just done that... I think I would’ve liked Common Ground WAY better! For what we got, it’s... meh.

You kinda screwed up with the plot summary. He never admitted he was good at sports. He was trying to show genuine interest in something she liked because she hadn't shown any in his interests. He was desperate to form a bond and focused on one aspect of the thing she liked instead of focusing on his talents and incorporating them into what she liked to find comon ground, like he does at the end.

Your ending gags are getting kinda "meh" KP, it's like its just a thing on a checklist you have to do kinda like how you listed all the "subscribe and like and notification blah blah blah, and oh yeah here's your ending gag, you kids like that shit right? does that check all the boxes?" They used to be hilarious, like you actually, you know, cared. If it's something you are just doing for the sake of sticking to a format and your just checking off all the boxes then i'd rather that you just didn't do it. It might be time to switch things up a bit, Game theory (and yes i now it's a completely different type of show but that isn't the point) recently started doing videos where MatPat is doing skits on the screen and improvising and doing funny crap while he is talking about his theories. It's funny and completely breaks up how he does his videos and is a breath of fresh air.
