I understand you're a businessman ... However, you continue to impress with your graciousness, passion ,and commitment to the gaming community. You didn't have to acknowledge My Little Scythe at all; and indeed could have done a cease and desist. You saw something amazing and came up with a way to get it to all of us. Thanks, Jamey!

I very much appreciate that perspective. I admire what Hoby and his daughter originally created, and I was delighted the first time I played it--I knew I wanted to work on it with them after that. :)

Amen! I'm getting Scythe for Christmas and was just telling my wife how awesome it was that they picked it up! I plan on getting both versions eventually. But Fenris will come first. ;)

Scythe is my favorite game to play, but my kids aren’t old enough yet to really dig into it. MLS seems like a perfect avenue to disciple them into the full game a few years from now. PreOrdered!

I read the rulebook a couple of days ago, and that friendship-gaining mechanic was definitely the standout development since the PnP days. It looks like a beautiful mechanic - I can't wait to try it out.

I see that Rise of Fenris box. Don't know if it was in an earlier video, but its getting me hyped

All right, I am forsaking my vow to Buy No More Games This Year (Unless I Achieve Certain Goals) and have signed up as a Stonemaier Champion and pre-ordered My Little Scythe. The rationale: My SO's daughter is likely to get married soon and that means within, oh, 10 years or so we'll have grandkids who I can introduce to boardgaming with this. Sorry, what's that? Yes. Yes, I am serious... I am buying a game now to play in a decade with kids who haven't been (literally and figuratively) conceived yet. What? No. No I am not using that as an excuse to buy another Stonemaier Game! Now get off my lawn!

I like this rationale. :)

I see logic in it. Not just for an excuse to play a cool game solo or secretly with other adults, but you never know when games will go out of print. There's many games out of print right now that I'd like to have and they're just not available. Fingers crossed they will be again one day.

When I saw that mechanism either in the trailer you put out yesterday or the Tantrum House preview, I did wonder if that's why you'd been on a 'helpful interactions in competitive games' kick on this channel a few months back. Looks neat, and compares nicely to the other mechanisms of that type you've mentioned on the channel (and Brass's 'you can use resources other players have built factories, but it takes them closer to scoring the factory' stuff) Waiting on reviews for this to see if it's different enough to be worth having both this and Scythe for people rarely in situations where they need to grab a family-weight game - There's a real possibility it will be, in the same way Forbidden Desert and Pandemic are.

Our 4yo LOVES tbose dice! She nailed the friendship bonus but then decided to go on and just collect gems 😂😂😂 This has been a great addition to our family game library - it's simole enough to set up (really visual!) that our older daughter can set up and play wifh friends which is really cool. We have a few games they can do that with now and its neat to see another generation of game players emerging 😁

That's really great, Amie! Thanks for sharing. :)

I thought you were going to say you could place the gem/apple on 1 of 2 players and negotiate between them who you would put it on, which is is a bit lacking in Scythe considering you can give coins to other players.

Can luck in dice rolling be managed?
@jameystegmaier6 жыл бұрын
Definitely! I explain this in detail in the video.
@ricochetjan6 жыл бұрын
Ahh, the management is in the next decision, not the dice roll. Thanks!

Those red dice should really be more colourblind friendly though.

We made them as colorblind friendly as we possibly could.

Looks very cool. My daughter is 10 and I know she only plays board games to humor daddy. Lol. Maybe if I get this she might actually enjoy playing herself. You seem like a great guy but you have really nice hair so I have to dislike you a little. 😉

I love Scythe and all but this seems pretty complex for a kid's game.
@jameystegmaier6 жыл бұрын
It's not a kid's game. :) It's actually quite streamlined, right at the family-friendly, gateway level we were aiming for. The rules are simple and streamlined (just 5 pages of gameplay rules), but there are lots of interesting decisions.

I play tested this for my friend hoby. And we had kids (3 of them and one as young as 6) the youngest one needed a little help so she played with an adult but the other 2 kids loved it and wanted to play again. Actually I enjoyed it as well.

My 7 year old plays regular Scythe and remembers rules better than I do. But I know adults who can't handle it so everything is relative.
