I have bought 100s of cards from Burbank. The cards are well described, ship on time and packaged correctly. They offer great qty discounts which I always take advantage of. I would love to see the shop one day. The owner seems like good people. My local card shop feels like your in someone's dark dingy basement LOL.

I absolutely love rob and the new shop! I attend the second trade night and I accidentally drop my Justin Herbert select premier level! I told him about it and what happen and ask if I can move the display case. He said no they are difficult to move don’t hurt your self and about 10 minutes later he comes to me and replaced card, told him which select it was and pull one of the raw football display. Their very first show I showed with wax to sell has I was moving I almost left empty handed!

I finally gave up trying to order from Burbank. I got 3 orders in a row with a bunch of 5 - $10 cards crammed into a single penny sleeve. About half the cards had major corner dings as a result, and they never responded to messages. Did I just get unlucky with some unusual experiences, or is everyone else just less concerned with packaging and card condition?

Great question, Josh. PSA is all I consider but I definitely can’t say it’s “best”. Also, what does “best” mean? Resale value? Appearance? Cost? Turnaround time? I’d look as CSG and SGC if you’re not looking to wait very long

Owner says he doesn’t pay 50% of comps when buying from customers. What profit margins is he aiming for? He says his son buys and immediately stocks items in showcases, so let’s say he buys a card for $1000, what would he likely sell it for? Insurance must be crazy expensive!

The owner of the shop was on a high horse talking about “If we became breakers then 80% of our customers would have a negative experience” Or something along those lines. I mean you even further my point - it’s actually a better investment to never even open the box at all and just stash it away. So what’s the point of having this big space for his customers to open wax if the only way to avoid disappointment is to never open the box in the first place? And you know damn well that 95% of his customers are not there looking at wax to stash. Do you really pay LCS wax prices for boxes you are going to stash? If so, well, that is disappointing.

@@charlesperkins5701 I don't do breaks at all. I don't pay those prices because I bought in the past on pre-sales below LCS prices. I bought 2018 Chrome at $150 per box. I haven't bought new stuff nor will I. The new stuff they want over double that. I liked the shop as well. I don't have a local shop. As a kid back in the 80s, we had several. The hobby isn't what it used to be. There are more sharks and theives now than ever before.

I hate all of these guys, I get that they have to make a profit but the fact that something can be worth $100 and they will give you $50 if you're lucky, only to turn around and sell it for $120, something just isn't right.. they shouldn't be buying stuff off of you with the idea that they're going to sell it tomorrow for a profit, they should hopefully make a profit if they can sell it but they should be buying stuff with the idea that in a few years they'll make a profit, just like the rest of us... I hate store owners so much

Actually you're wrong. It's more like, worth $100, they give you $70 and re sell it for $100. Win Win situation. Most people who sell to them don't want to go through the hassle of listing it, waiting for it to sell then ship it and hope the mail service actually gets it there in one piece and the buyer actually likes it without returning it. Burbank is very fair with their buying and selling from my experience.

@@davecj10 honestly, you pay what it's worth and in a few years, you make your profits.. there's no other business that runs like that, no other business where you say bye a big hunk of cheese and you take it up to the counter and you tell the store owner that you're going to give them 60% of what they're asking for it.. it doesn't work that way.. the fact that all of the store owners constantly cry about not making enough money, when the reality is, they might make enough money if they sold their PC but they don't want to do that just like we don't want to do that.. but they have so many advantages from, the ability to cherry pick the best cards, to having first pick when it comes to breaking new stuff or opening new stuff, to the point where they get so many times when some old lady or whatever just wants to dump off the cards and either sells it super cheap or donates it... They have all of the advantage in this situation, so they should be paying what the cards are worth and in reality, that'll just make everything worth that much more. But again, there is no other thing where the idea is that you could buy it today and sell it tomorrow for profit.. that's crazy! No investments work that way.. it wouldn't be a good investment if it did work that way.. so again, if you like something, just like the rest of the Goyim, you have to pay for what it's worth and hopefully in a few years, you made a smart buy.

@@dankozin4747 if somebody doesn't want to go through the work of selling their thing, just like anything, if you're not going to put the work in to sell it, then you don't deserve any more than the work you put into it.. but I don't know what sports card place you're dealing with, the idea that I make up these arbitrary numbers and you want to correct them is kind of silly but the fact is, with markup and everything else, these guys are making a killing and if they're not making a killing, it's because they spend their profits on their PC and if they were to sell their pc, they would be hundred-thousandares at the very least... I have no love for the hobby store owner, a great example is when I took a box of courage into a store and they offered me $30 for it, I laughed at them took it home and posted on on Facebook and within a few days, I had $1,400.. if I didn't know any better, if I was just some fool who had something in his closet or whatever, they would have taken full advantage of me and they would have made a TREMENDOUS profit.
