I bought my ZX-14R in 2013 and I still have it. I love mine and couldn't dream of selling it. Mine doesn't have ABS so its brakes aren't squishy feeling. Mine is flashed, -1 front sprocket and Akrapovic slip-on mufflers. It is very fast. I don't need anything any faster than my 14. It has been very reliable, unlike those BMW S1000RR's which seem to always be having problems.

You are so right I have a Hayabusa similar to the zx1400 the first generation I totally agree with you it's fast fun but it really beat you up when I'm done riding I feel like I was in the gym in a 2-hour workout and the brakes suck on that bike as well and the suspension a bit hard man going over bumps my testicles feel like they're going to come through my brain LOL. But I'll keep her I still like her overall but these days it's a short trips.

Other than Kawasaki putting this bike on a serious diet (start with the exhaust bazookas), my only gripe is the dash. If you ride with the helmet sun visor down, that wipes out the backlit 2000’s-era LCD screen. I’m not a full color TFT fanboy or anything, but it’s reasonable to see which gear you’re in whenever the sun is up. Otherwise, perfect ride.

You have some good points(pros & cons) on the 14. I would like to offer two opinions that address your concerns. 1) Where the BIG 14 shines BEST, is on LONG rides. The ergos & weight, and fuel capacity are "on point" for long distances. 2) The "original" NON-ABS Brakes on Gen's 1 & 2, are imo, some of the BEST motorcycle brakes ON THE PLANET. You had to have "felt" them to know. I will NEVER forget the efficiency of the "standard" brakes on my NEW 2009 ZX-14. Of ALL the moto's I have owned(7), my 14 had thee best BRAKES. Two-finger taps; COLD or HOT, low speeds or HIGH speeds, all day long 💪🏼💪🏼, I am NOT exaggerating. There are STILL "track" riders to this day who prefer NON-abs. That is why you can still buy a non-ABS or, ABS version of a super sport from "certain" brands. *FWIW: My '08 GSX-R 1000 was brand NEW off the showroom floor. Those brakes were thee scariest of ALL 7 of my bikes. They "felt like" brakes for a GSX-R 600. In my heart of hearts, I believe they were the same brakes that are on a GSX-R 600. Insufficient 💪🏼power for a 1000, but I adapted. -🍀
