for anyone wondering, the difference between a body butter and a massage bar is that the body butters are meant to be used in the shower/on wet skin, and the massage bars are used on dry skin.
@nanu19809 жыл бұрын
There are some mistakes in the logic "natural = good for you; chemical = bad for you". It's over-simplified and in that general sense it's just not true. First of all: Everything around you - whether it's man-made or of natural origin - is composed of chemicals. Everything. You yourself are composed of chemicals. They aren't good or bad per se. Whar people mean most of the time is the distinction between man-made substances and naturally occurring substances. But there is no inherent difference between a chemical substance that is synthesized or isolated by humans and it's naturally occurring form. If it has the same chemical structure, it's the same thing. Just that the man-made form ist most of the time purified and isolated to be on it's own, not surrounded by dozens or hundreds of other substances like in a natural organism. Second: Naturally occurring substances can be just as harmful, dangerous, or even deadly as manmade chemicals. Just think of some spider or snake venoms. Or the acid (chemical!) of ants. Or the lye (chemical!) of some dangerous jellyfish. They are 100% natural but still 100% harmful. Also the opposite is true. Manmade chemicals can be just as beneficial to you as naturally occurring substances. Take antibiotics for example. While their widespread use or even overuse nowadays causes new problems, in the first place they have saved, can and will save, thousands and thousands of lives. And while in former times people would have to eat moldy bread in order to get the benefit from the penicillin (along with the toxins of mold), the man made-version made the benefits much more useable and controllable and purer. Third of all: chemicals that you find in nature vs. the man-made form are not inherently different things. They are the same thing. The man made form ist just purer and isolated. Abd it's better understood, because it is isolated and actually produced there and then. So it can be studied and understood on it's own. Now, I'm neither and advocate for *only* man-made substance nor for *only* natural stuff. They both have their pros and cons. But it's about knowing what exact substances are in there and how they behave in or on your body. The mere distintion "natoral or not" doesn't really help. When people blindly believe that every thing natural is good and everything synthetc is bad it just shows how little tey understand about chemistry and biology. And companies can use that lack of knowledge to market their products.

The massage bars are designed to work like a massage oil, where you want it to be super oily and not just sink into the skin. They can work nicely for moisturiser but you have to be prepared to let it take its time and apply lightly! Shame you were told it was a body butter!

'Let the good times roll' is amazing, i was skeptical reading the ingredients and wondered if it would actually do anything, but when i use it i see a visible difference, glowing skin and not tight/dry. And i never see visible differences when using a product. The smell is also the best scent on the planet!! Also i break out with pretty much every oil (coconut, olive, rosehip etc) but the corn oil in the cleanser didn't.

Idk if someone already commented about this, but for the shower Jelly you have to get a loofa, break a little piece (about the size of your thumb) and kinda carefully rub it around in the loofa and then ya know rub it all over or whatever. I mean people do just use it without the loofa, but the loofa is the best when it comes to show jellies. HOPE THIS HELPED!

Daily routine lush products include their moisturizers, toner waters, and I love their red lip tint (it smells like cherries and is good for a casual summer day without a full face of makeup).

The massage bars usually have a more oily/sticky feeling when you use them but the body butters feel way less oily and a lot more moisturizing. The only one that is even somewhat close is the king of skin, which doesnt feel oily but more like cocoa butter and shea butter feels if you buy the raw kinds of those. I would totally give buffy or the other body butters a try because theyre so much different from the massage bars (even king of skin is a dramatic difference in my opinion). Buffy is exfoliating and very moisturizing on the skin and leaves it very soft and you dont even have to use a lotion when you get out of the shower which is fantastic.

The body butters Lush makes are meant to be used in the shower. It's kind of backwards. Massage bars are solid lotion. Body butters you use when you're wet, rub it on you and then rinse it off. My favourite Lush products are Tiny Hands, Grease Lightning (it works for me :P) and Let The Good Times Roll. Products I don't like are Ocean Salt, Toothy Tabs (I don't get the idea) and Dream Wash (dried out my skin).
@EmilieJoy9 жыл бұрын
LifeJunkie What? That is so confusing! I feel like they should change the name of them if they are supposed to be used in the shower! You didn't like Ocean Salt? That is something that I have been wanting to try for a long time!
@plumdutchess9 жыл бұрын
Émilie Joy I know. A body butter is a lotion. That's it. But not for Lush -_- . Most people rave about Ocean Salt. But I found it way too harsh. It's pretty chunky and because of the salt and wodka, it really stings. I don't have sensitive skin and can pretty much use anything on it, but Ocean Salt really irritated it. Some people said that maybe it was a very chunky batch. Could be, but I'll stick to LTGTR instead. It's scrubby as well, but feels way more nourishing. But it might be perfect for you. That's what samples are for, right? :)
@natalyayoungg9 жыл бұрын
LifeJunkie for the ocean salt did you mix it up well because when you first get it you have to stir it to get s better feeling and its just a scrub you can use in the shower or out all scrubs i have used we chunky thats just the way they are :)
@plumdutchess9 жыл бұрын
Woah Natalya Yeah, I did :). It was a nice, very light blue, creamy consistency. The chunks of salt were just so big, I couldn't even rub it on my face. My fingers would roll over them. Not sure if there is a difference between the UK and US ones.
@natalyayoungg9 жыл бұрын
LifeJunkie oh Lol I could see how it was to good I guess it just wasn't for you but if you still want something to make your face feel really good and refreshed you should use a fresh face mask I perfer the cupcake because it smells like chocolate cupcake batter its so good and also oatfix its like oatmeal and very cleansing for your skin :)

_The Comforter_ doesn't have the same candy scent as _Rock Star,_ _Creamy Candy_ bubble bar does. _The Comforter_ has a fruity, blackcurrant scent. Also, _Pink Bath Bomb_ and _Snow Fairy_ shower gel have the candy scent. _Godiva_ shampoo bar. This is their jasmine, AKA cat pee, scent. It's also found in _Flying Fox_ shower gel. Some other products containing jasmine do not smell like cat pee, just these two that I've tried. _Silky Underwear_ dusting powder does have jasmine in it, but it smells great, noting like _Godiva_ and _Flying Fox._ If you have to use mail order, I highly recommend getting a sample of _Godiva_ and _Flying Fox_ if at all possible before buying. My friend has acne and the best face mask for her is _Catastrophe Cosmetic._ You can also make one very similar at home if you don't have LUSH store near you or if you find LUSH too expensive. There's plenty of DIY recipes for LUSH products that are very good. www.pinterest.com/mercheval/diy-lush-cosmetics-3/ I haven't purchased LUSH in many years (due to personal reasons) but I do remember my favorites. _H'Suan Wen Hua_ hair treatment. _Silky Underwear_ dusting powder. _You Snap the Whip_ and _Buffy_ body scrub. _Squeaky Green_ and _New!_ shampoo bar. _Jungle_ solid conditioner. _King of Skin_ body butter (I put this on in the shower when in a hurry). _Rehab_ shampoo and _Retread_ conditioner. All of the current Luxury Bath Melts (Floating Island is my favorite LUSH scent ever). Just about all bath bombs, bubble bars, and massage bars. And the _Karma_ line. I used them depending on what scent I would like at the time.

I don't like how they are so pushy (in my store).One time I was in the store and I was looking at a face mask and taking about it and (if you think I'm joking I'm not) a worker turns around to me and my friends and starts gushing about the mask and here's the catch... SHE HAD LITERALLY PUT THE MAAK ON ANd WAS ACTING LIKE IT WAS SO NORMAL! I tried so hard not to die laughing. I told the cashier and she said that worker tried everything to sell stuff and goes as far as washing and conditioning her hair in the store.

If I ever get a pesky pimple I put some of this on top and it literally gets smaller by the next day. YUMMY MUMMY shower gel smells so yummy :) so does olive branch! I really like the shower gels. If you like HIWTK soap, I'd try the new shampoo bar Honey I Washed My Hair….it has the same scent. I also find that American Cream covers up any weird smelling shampoo bar. Same for Brazilliant…I find that one a little too floral for me, but AC dominates after and it smells god.

I actually quite enjoy the godiva shampoo bar, but yeah the amount of fragrance in it can be a bit surprising and sometimes concerning. I dye and bleach my hair a lot so the conditioner in it helps a whole lot in combination with rose jam gel and seanik (I rotate usually only using one product per shower, but the rose jam helps a lot with damage so I use that in combination with another when my hair is damaged and seanik for volume) I also find that my hair gets really greasy very fast with it, however it does make my hair soft and smell nice for a while (I have short hair to keep in mind)

Lush doesn't say any of their products including Honey are vegan... I really think you need to do your research before you go making videos on the net where everyone can see the lack of education and research you put into your videos. I would just reconsider and do some googling. Thats all.

Alexis, shutup. You clearly know nothing! A lot of their products are vegan, some are not. Stop acting so haughty because youre just making ur self look dumb lol

have you guys ever heard of a commercial soap with animal products in it? that's all a marketing strategy. It's like selling 'vegan lettuce.' The animal products were never an issue because animal products aren't used in any soap sold in stores. Lush isn't a chemical-free or even environmentally-friendly company. They name their products things like "veganese" to make you think they're healthier, but really their products contain the same chemicals as drugstore soaps, shampoos, conditioners, etc. I know that people are going to buy what they're going to buy, but I wish that consumers were less susceptible to these bullshit marketing strategies that are only used to make you more willing to hand your money over to greedy corporations that are abusing your good faith and willingness to help support their "good cause" all for a few dollars. Girls, don't just look at an ingredient list and become entranced with their essential oils and fruit juice. Do your research on the chemicals in the products that you use and buy accordingly!

I personally support Lush because they actively support charities against animal testing, and they do use lots of natural ingredients. A lot of their shampoo bars have ingredients in like salt and lemon which are good for your hair, and Jason and the Argan Oil has less Sodium Laureth Sulphate in than other shampoos. I like to keep in mind that other companies don't test on animals too, but I love the atmosphere in lush and their products work for me :)

No, I get it. Lush is a company that has an end goal of making profits. I'm sure that they do some really great things for outside organizations, and I'm only pointing out that many of their "pros," are really just marketing strategies - just like the atmosphere in their stores. They're designed to seem organic even if they still use as many chemicals as the more mainstream commercial hygiene products. My only problem with that - it's misleading and teenage girls get so wrapped up in believing that it's truly good for them because it SEEMS organic (also, because we have this idea that higher price = better products), but there are so many products out there that are actually organic and sustainable and usually CHEAPER THAN LUSH that also don't test on animals, etc. Don't fall for corporate tricks. The girls buying Lush's products now are the same people that will keep this use of chemicals on our bodies consistent. We can limit the amount of chemicals we are exposed to by demanding more clean products! Think this way: if 10,000 girls were to stop buying Lush products for a month because they wanted less chemicals, lush would respond positively because the expense of using high quality, REAL ingredients would be lower than the amount of profit they're losing by using harmful chemicals. We can all make a change. You seem small, but together we can make a huge difference. If you want to see these differences made, speak your mind and let these companies know!

+kye carlin Its fine if that's what you think. I personally like their products, and they have products like bubble bars, shower jellies and shampoo bars that I haven't found anywhere else. I often get very stressed and anxious, and having a bubble bath with a good book calms me, so I don't mind paying higher prices. I appreciate your comments and opinions - sometimes they do stress that their makeup (for example) is against animal testing when, in fact, it is illegal to test any cosmetics on animals in the UK. But for every teenage girl who have been "taken in" by the marketing of Lush, there are dozens of men, women and children who enjoy their products because the products work for them, and they like using them. I was in my local lush today, and there were a whole variety of people there. (And sorry if I seem argumentative, I don't want to quarrel with you, as you are free to voice your views)

I apologize also if I seem like I'm attacking you with my opinions! haha, I'm not trying to demean anything you're saying, but as I said before - there are great alternative to lush products that you are vouching for. I too have struggled with anxiety, I've used Lush products - don't get me wrong - I will 100% admit to being entranced with their products at one point. What I have found by using truly organic products like essential oils and herbs vs. using Lush products is that the organic alternatives are much more concentrated and are more beneficial in smaller quantities = >$. Organic markets like Whole Foods carries an extensive line of cosmetic, hygiene, etc. products very similar to Lush (bath bombs, soaps, lotions, shampoo bars, they even have organic foundations and eyeliners - things like that) that often cost less and are genuinely BETTER for your body. From my own personal experience, from using chemicals to cutting them out everywhere I am able to - I FEEL better using organic products. They make my skin and hair feel and look healthier, and I can feel better about the things that I'm putting back into the environment. I'm not telling you to stop using lush products - all that I'm asking is that you try something different and decide for yourself which you prefer. I promise you'll be glad that you did. I was trying to find a link to some products that I've used, but found this article about a new mom that noticed all of the chemicals in her baby's soaps and decided to go au naturale and thought it gave some good examples of some homemade alternatives to shampoo, although I know that store-bought is more convenient and can be just as beneficial: www.nourishingtreasures.com/index.php/2012/01/16/the-shocking-truth-about-shampoo-why-i-havent-shampooed-in-seven-years/ I'm not trying to push any ideas on you as I would have said no to any of this stuff a couple of years ago also, but from personal experience I've seen a huge all-around difference in the quality of my skin and hair which is very important to me. I'm not a hippie haha, I'm just a sustainability/ marketing major that has been trained not to fall for corporate schemes.

+kye carlin Unfortunately I don't have any organic markets or stores near me; my local town is mostly full of charity shops and e-cigarette shops! I suppose it would be good if lush made it more clear that not all of tier products are 100% organic, but I'm personally fine with using products including some synthetic. I do make my own lip scrubs, as I can't fathom paying £5.50 for what is essentially salt, sugar and oil. But as I have nowhere near me selling anything close to organic cosmetics, I will happily continue using theirs. The staff are usually very informative (though I have found that sometimes I know more about the products than they do) and the products seem to do well for me and my awfully sensitive skin!
