the antenna is a great touch, I would also have gotten one and just tuned it for HAM radio. My MOS, 2841 Ground Radio Repair, worked on on the radio equipment in my units vics. Mostly in our M1 Abrams though.

I was an A/C mechanic in the ARMY and I remember installing the Red Dot System on it and the LMTV. Later in 2005 we got the Up Armored vehicles with A/C already on it so we didn't have to install it, just do maintenance on it. What's the process to get it legal on the street.

That is awesome man! Are those red dot AC systems loud when they are running? I have heard that the fan is pretty loud and annoying. To get it street legal I just had to get the title transferred over to Florida from the Montana title that Iron planet gave me and then they gave me a license plate.

Yes, they are a little bit loud but work fine. Remember to put some compressor oil in the compressor and rotate it a few times before installation. Sometimes they come without oil and get damage when you turn the a/c on.

Yes I will soon, Basically just ask for a Montana title from iron planet and you can transfer the title to whatever state you live in. The Montana title doesn't say off-road use only on it so that is how I was able to get it on the road. i will make a video soon though, good luck!

+Mike Hawk I'm not exactly sure yet & yeah it only has a 3 speed right now. It isnt as slow as everyone says though, it has some get up and go and a decent top end speed of around 65. It's not too bad for a military truck haha

That was a problem on the 6.5's. The 6.2's are weak but they work.

@@DakotaWoodHD Do not drive above 50-55 these vehicles do not fair well on rollovers. Also be sure to check your tierod ends for sabotage. Mine were cut 3/4 through by a grinder and my alignment was put out of caster by 2 shims too many on drivers side.

i would look into getting a red dot ac system for it. That is what I have for mine. I have heard many great things about that system. check on ebay and in the classifieds section on Steel Soldiers.

for a rustbucket fresh out of military service you're looking at around $5 000 USD-$10 000 USD, depending on overall condition. Remember that these kinds of humvees will need a LOT of restoration work on them. A restored humvee's typical price is $50-60 000 USD and if you can get one for $40 000 that's considered cheap. If you can somehow get one for $30k, that's _really_ cheap and may even be in fact _too_ cheap - the seller might be trying to hide something. Always check.

Hindukush1234 yeah it is a LOT of cash but honestly I reckon it's worth it. Once I'm off trainee wages I'm going to buy a semi-restored one because I'm a lazy slob and then finish off the rest, it'll be a great project to work on! You have a truck that can go pretty much anywhere and can also tow other 4WDs out of sticky situations. Just don't get stuck yourself because the only thing that can pull you out is another humvee, which is problematic if you live in a country like Australia, where there's only like 6 humvees privately owned lol But once you do get it up and running, the rubbernecking you witness as you drive around town is priceless. Just remember to install an engine kill switch and door locks on all doors and the rooftop hatch too, lest hooligans try to take your precious ride for a spin. I remember reading some guy's story about how there were a bunch of supercars at a car show, stuff like ferraris, lambos and maseratis and all that...but everyone was taking pictures of the humvee lol
