When I got my new Mahindra Thar, I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like and a certain tyre/wheel idea was always in the back of my mind.
Worldwide, the BF Goodrich KO2 is considered to be the go to All Terrain tyre for 4x4s. And the choice was pretty much sealed when my friend Jaideep got the same set up back in February.
Little did I know that immediately after, any stock of this tyre would completely get exhausted in the country.
Luckily for me, Jitesh Kapoor from BK Tyres - the first dealers for BFGoodrich in India - had three tyres with him.
Now, due to the tyre import restrictions, and no new tyres in this size coming any time soon, I dialled up Jaideep and took his spare tyre.
And so, I had four tyres.
For the fifth tyre, I am using some Hankook 275/70 R16 tyre, that I intend to replace as soon as fresh BFG stock comes.
If you want any car/SUV tyre in the Delhi-NCR region, chances are you will find them at BK Tyres in Lajpat Nagar.

And now, the price break up:

Cost of 5 BFG KO2 tyres: Rs 65,000
Cost of 5 steel rims 8J 16R: Rs 27,500
Cost of wheels and tyres: Rs 92,500
Value of your new tyres and wheels if you trade them in: Rs 50,000
Effective cost for the swap: Rs 42,500
My tyres had done about 3,000 km, so the value I was offered was Rs 39,500
Thank you so much for giving me your time. I hope you have a nice day.
