Me too. Its much easier and if you do get a bit of yolk in the whites you can touch it with a dampened paper towel and it will lift right off the white! Just a tidbit of info from an old country cooking Momma! 💖🙏

Scratch is always better and taste way better then premade graham cracker pie shell and canned lemon filling. It’s so easy to do. Just crack and remove yoke the better old fashioned way. Shouldn’t try new things on video without knowing how to do it.

SCRAMBLED EGGS FOR TOMORROW MORNING BREAKFAST! I just separate the yolk from the white using the shells. I crack the egg, then put the white in one bowl…. and the yolk in another.

Make sure your egg whites are all the way to the edge of the pie to seal. It prevents it from shrinking.

I looked it up and the article said you can use the carton whites but you need to whip it longer and add a pinch of cream of tartar. It also said pasteurized was better than ultra pasteurized eggs. I’ve never used those. I like the idea of powdered meringue. ❤

I can’t believe today was your first time making meringue. You did a great job. It looked delicious. I made some for my mom for the first time when I was a young teen. I have never tried the bottle method just use the shell but will do over a saucer separately incase I drop a yolk. 😮 I saw your video clip of you getting the egg yolk. If I ever try it I’ll use smaller bowl to try one egg at a time. Especially since eggs are so expensive and I don’t have any hens these days. Can’t wait to get my cookbook in the mail.
