Stringing beans and shelling peas has always been the most relaxing chore since my childhood. Spent hours on my granny’s porch shelling peas at least 60 years ago. Still go to farmers markets and buy unshelled beans and peas. Great therapy!

Grandma and Papaw I really like your channel. Y’all remind me of my great grandparents who have gone on to be with the Lord. I spent a lot of time at their home as a child. At their home I learned how to shuck corn and shell peas and butter beans. She raised my Mother and her two sisters bc their Mother died of breast cancer at the age of 24. I loved my great grandparents dearly. A funny thing I remember is her switching my legs for chasing her chickens . She slipped up behind me without me even hearing her. She explained to me that her chickens would get too excited and wouldn’t lay eggs that night if I kept chasing them. She had already warned us about chasing her chickens. So we knew better than to chase em. So I deserved that switchin I got! Lol They depended on those eggs for cooking and their meals. We had lots of fun at their home. We learned lots of life lessons there. God bless.

I just love the way you are Browning your baked pork chops to make a gravy base. When we cook a roast beef, we Powder, season and brown the roast beef the same way you're doing the pork chops. Then we cook our roast beef and add carrots or potatoes, and we've got the gravy as well. I can't wait to try your pork chops. Thank you for showing us how to do fresh green beans. I absolutely do not like frozen green beans. I've never been partial to Fresh greens because of the strings. I'm going to have to try fresh green beans now since you told me how to remove the strings I grew up going to Revival. The best revivals were tent revivals. There's no more around this area. I'm so happy you got to go to a Tent Revival. So many Holy Spirit blessed miracles happen there at the Revival. I sure do miss those days. Some of my favorite revivals were with brother Shamrock. I don't know if anyone remembers brother Shamrock. This is back in the 80s and 70s.

I always watch yalls videos from here in Kentucky and truely enjoy every minute of them. Corey, if I could make a suggestion for you to mention to mamaw, let her know to thicken gravy, make a slurry of very small amount of hot water and the flour, then mix into her gravy. She won't have any lumps then! I learned that from a homesteader and thought that was the best idea since slice bread was made. 😅
@nancyritland9116 Жыл бұрын
another good way is to brown the flour in good grease.......and slowly add the cool water......no lumps and browning the flour makes it even better! if you do not have any meat....just brown onions in bacon grease....and then brown your flour by stirring it into the bacon grease and onions (and salt and pepper).....and then slowly stir in your cool water, and bring it up to a boil. Really good on rice potatoes or noodles

The shortening is already in the flour and it makes the best biscuits.
