Welcome to the 3rd episode of” Mera ghar ek Sapna “. Here I will be crating a Baithak for my home . What does baithak means ? Let’s first learn that .
Baithak is means seating . In Bengali we call it Boithak / Bosar Jayga .Baithak means a special place where you can seat and practice any form of art / dance / practice yoga or Pray for god . This is a social place for gathering too.

Loved the chandelier and the arched window .I was considering a similarly arched window for my house and was considering getting it done in MDF with CNC cutting. The problem with POP being that it develops cracks later.

Best part was the window dressing and the chandelier plus mirror and mandir effect on the whole ambience. Would you have considered a low seating with mirror work cushions of different shapes and sizes it may have given a total inidan look. But a contemporary baithak like yours looks great too.

2:08 - it was the dutch, the Portuguese , the French , the English who bought - raised furniture to India. All over India sleeping on the floor on mats was the norm And the affluent Mughals slept on raised beds . Thrones and seating arrangements in affluent places used raised furniture. This trickled down to households and people of importance "elders " sat on raised furniture. Servants, help and Slaves only sat at the feet of the master . Social dynamics played a much part in the making of the furniture. My 2 cents. Thank you
