I’ve been watching Vince for quite some time, and this has to be the funniest video to me. The smoke filling the screen and the fire alarms going off is so fitting for a trying-to-fix video. 😂

I own one of these. The XLR is a bad design, it has live 240v going to one of the pins for the controller. But with it being around audio equipment, someone could easily plug in a normal XLR cable such as a microphone and get a deadly shock or fry other equipment. XLR was such a bad choice of socket

Hey Vince. I needed to test a key fob once and read that a germanium diode across your meter probes should read a few millivolts when you press the button and it worked great. Don't know if it works on all of them. The smoke and alarms had me in stitches and the comment about wife 😅😅 Funniest repair video ever

those remotes are ten a penny on ebay as a remote and pcb in black or wood, and with 2,3, or 4 buttons. they usually have NO, NC, momomentary and latching contacts . I use one for knight rider lights in my car grille to switch on and off, and change rgb colour of leds. coil of aerial wire on pcb can be doy if altered, affecting range dramatically. coil is 12v on relay, as marked on the pvb. contacts arerated up to 240vac quite often for home use on lights etc.

It makes a change to do a repair where you actually WANT to see smoke! I've found that with some batteries, they can read full voltage off-load, but as soon as any load is applied, the voltage immediately drops right down. Interestingly, those little 12v batteries are made up of a stack of little button cells! But I found that they are an unusual type number, so unfortunately don't fit anything that runs on button cells. My doorbell uses that 12v battery.

*TIP* By placing yo multimeter into diode mode, and having a probe connected to ground test Diodes, Transistors and IC pins for a reading that is more than 0.2 to less than 1.9 if any pins other than no connect or ground is out of the above range the Component could be a prime suspect for an equivalent or better replacement, once removed passive components can be tested, and some IC's also can be tested by popular logical IC testers. Also, this would have been a perfect job to use yo oscilloscope to, 1/. Check Cystal's to see if they are operating around the remote controls stated frequency. 2/. Check Remote Controls output at antenna for signals or pulses when actioning buttons and check if output frequency is near to crystals, beware that some circuits may halve or double or even triple or more the frequency. 3/. Check receiver WiFi or Bluetooth Board is in fact switching when remote control buttons are pressed. All redundant for this here lil unit, but if it had not been the corrosion, I am extremely confident you should now be able to fix most electronic circuits simply by knowing the above professional routines in electronic repair. APU 👁👍

Basically it's a giant vape. When you activate it, the pump feeds a small amount of the fog liquid (a mix of water and propylene glycol, possibly vegetable glycerine too) in to the aluminium heater block (same as in an electric shower) where it is instantly vapourised producing a plume of white 'smoke'. I have one of those too 😁.

the smoke is a variety of propylene glycol (various ones depending on the "thickness" effect required) and is regarded as non-toxic. If the nozzle clogs up run some vinegar through it.

Had something similar. Small remote that lights up red but did nothing. Turned out also to be a flat battery. It takes very little voltage to light the LED versus sending the signal. Though I thought you'd have another issue because frequency on the remote was not the same as on the crystal in main unit.

Peter noone "There`s a kinda hush" , he was also part of Herman`s Hermit`s! also by the Carpenters, if you would have had access to Freq Counter or analyer then the fob would have given a clue, but appreciate these are test equipments not used everyday, I think prior to storage it would be good practice to remove the battery to prevent corrosion & battery drain through circuit via any corrosion.
@dazer1233 сағат бұрын
Vince you need to get a SDR dongle they are only £20 so you could listen to see if the transmitter is working just enter the frequency that is marked on the crystal next to the black coil wire antenna

Smoke machines use a liquid made of distilled water and a glycol-based solution like glycerine or propylene glycol very similar to vapes totally harmless otherwise they would not be able to be used in confined spaces like a nightclub.

Let's go MMV ! I kind of love fog machines. But can't justify the price for home \ cat use. 3:10 "I'm going to put this on the floor so i don't knock it over" Clearly Vince does not own a cat, as that is prime cat antics. Every time my cat climbs up the chair to look at my table, she scopes out everything on it, for new things to knock off. Anything i put on the floor is immediately knocked over. She loves scattering my RC tools and screws, so now i have a hinged box to put little things in. I can't tell you how many little bits I've had to buy spares of due to her.
