I AM NOT A DOCTOR OR PSYCHIATRIST. I AM NOT HERE TO GIVE MEDICAL ADVICE OR RECOMMEND ANY SPECIFIC MEDICATIONS. I am just sharing my experiences with schizophrenia medication and different antipsychotic options that are available for people experiencing schizophrenia symptoms.
Also, this video is not sponsored by any specific organization or company.
I also had less hallucinations and delusions on my oral medication as well. Remember while watching this that everyone has different brain chemistry and what works for one person may not work for another.

If I may, I'd also like to add, for people starting their medical journey for mental illness (at least in my experience with depression and anxiety meds), please be patient. It takes time for these meds to have effect. Don't give up. It takes 2 weeks to a month to start seeing differences. Then, you may have to try others. It truly is a trial and error, because brain chemistry varies from person to person. As Kody said, communication between you and your doctor is vital, so be honest about how you feel you're being affected by your meds, both good and bad. Please stick with it; it can change your life. 😊❤❤

Never once occured to me that the person with schizophrenia might be more scared and terrified then everyone else. It's not that I had bad misconceptions about schizophrenia, I had really no information or really a need to learn. All I knew is people with it would talk to people not really there. You know the BS media shows. Thank you for sharing your journey. I learned alot. And I will definitely be more understanding to those who suffer from this.

I cant speak for kody obviously but in my experience as a schizophrenic it is terrifying when u have hallucinations in public. It gets chaotic because then u start to question what is real and what isnt in ur current surroundings. I got my diagnosis 14 years ago, I have had a long time to adjust to life tho. So personally I'm doing well managing my hallucinations. I do intend to bring up injections to my doctor tho cause I've been on oral meds this whole time and I'm curious if these injections will help me more that oral meds.

Hi Kody 🙂 I recently started watching your videos as I suspect my sister has some form of Schizophrenia and I was wanting to educate myself about it. But also I've recently moved into an apartment and there's a young man in my block that our neighbours have said they suspect he has schizophrenia. It's put me a bit on edge because he'll stand in the stairway and he always looks so scared and he doesn't respond when I greet him, he also doesn't move out the way so I usually have to squeeze past him. He sometimes even stands behind me as I open the door to my apartment and he says nothing. Today there seemed to have been an incident where the cops were called and he was taken away in the van with his feet and arms tied up, thankfully his parents were with him and helped to get him safely in the van. My heart truly goes out to the family and the young man as I can't imagine how much stress and worry they have for him and also how much he's going through. But Im also scared since I don't know if he's safe to be around. He's probably going to receive treatment which great. My question is, should I be scared of him? Also what can I do to help? Should I be trying to engage with him or should I just ignore him since he never responds to me?

Most people who have these types of conditions are not violent. Usually when you see something like that happen it's because the person is more of a danger to themselves. I would recommend you talk to his family. Reach out to them that you're their neighbor and not only do you have concerns but that you would like to help in any way if you can. I'm sure they would be grateful to give you any advice but just to know that you care I'm sure would mean the world to them!

Very good info for many to know and glad you did this video. Which there were more than just about 4 long acting injection antipsychotics available. This is a very vital type of medication. And they should be less expensive! Kody can you please do a video on your current type and frequency of positive symptoms.

Thank you so much for this video, my brother is really struggling with not being medicated and I’m trying to get him help even though he does not like meds. He also has hiv so he’s really paranoid about even taking meds to help combat that so he’s very skinny and it’s just really sad cause I know if I can somehow get him on medication for the schizophrenia he’d likely be able to see that he needs to start taking care of himself cause the hiv. Idk how I stumbled on your video but I am so thankful.

Hey Kody, you mentioned how access to a knowledge provider can be a challenge for some people. Have you done or could you in the future talk about how clinical research could be an option for some people? I'm happy to help with that and /or provide some data. Thanks so much for everything that you do! 💚

Thank you so much brother, I have my young brother he doesn't wanna take medication he's in the hospital of mental health people now, he always say that he doesn't have schizophrenia but when we look he's symptoms like confusions, pressure in his head, and he say that he can't be able to respond back because those demons hold his brain and he doesn't wanna eat our food even though he knows we love him ,also he run away from home for two days we couldn't find him. and as family sometimes we accept what he's saying that he has demons it makes as afraid about medication because we confuse we think it can cause effect if it is not schizophrenia and other side we want him to take it what you think we can do brother For your answer it will mean a lot as he's family

Hey! Thank you for this video! I'm wondering can you get a lower not as long lasting injection initially to see how it affects you before having a long lasting injection? Is that not a worry, because it's basically the same as the pills? I'd really appreciate answers! My thanks in advance!

Even psychiatrists don't know what it is, they just had to put names on this stuff, and when you get sick they just label it. They figured out that some chemicals were useful to reduce this conditions (depression, bipolarity, hallucinations, anxiety....) Regardless of what name you put on a mental illness, it will never be an accurate diagnosis because we're all different. That's why you have to try so many molecules, they don't know so doctors try until they find out which one works better.

I experience bouts of psychosis and delusions, medication is essential as a baseline treatment for these types of mental disorders but something that has benefited me even more than medication is Diet and Exercise. Sugary drinks like Gatorade, orange juice soda, Added sugars in things like tomato sauce, bread and pasta. Bread and pasta themselves are carbohydrates which break down into simple sugars in the digestive system and cause inflammation as well as excessive water retention in the body’s cells, Dairy products like milk, cheese and yogurt, anything containing soy is no Bueno, and last but most certainly not least processed vegetable oil, sunflower oil and canola oil aka unhealthy fats or tumor fuel. These are all foods which you should NOT be ingesting, physically/mental health issues or not.. too many people’s with mental illness just go to work eat shit food like sandwiches, chips and fast food them come home and sit on their ass and play video games for multiple hours at a time and then end up under sleeping or throwing off their body with an erratic sleep schedule. To whoever’s reading this and lives that lifestyle AND wants to actually do something about it instead of wallowing in misery then start researching the Palio diet, empty your cupboards empty the fridge, google a good shopping list of foods you can eat on the diet and start feeding better both mentally & physically then start setting fitness goals, start small and do 10 burpees, 15, 20. Get sore, build discipline, confidence and muscle.
