human construct itself, is just one of many illusions🗿 to put it into perspective birds have twice the number of colour receptors in their retinas than humans do, so when they're looking at your car... birds see none but a shinny and colourful toilet🤭 and if the reality converters i.e our brains and birds' brains are removed from the equation, reality itself would most likely stop making sense entirely and instantaneously

Wow, I just released that and came here to post this, but glad someone beat me to it. And damn, Dennett was my first foray into becoming an atheist, with his book"Consciousness Explained". That then led me to Dawkins, etc and there was no stopping it. I've watched countless lectures by him on youtube (along with you AnonRa :) ), and have read most of his books. I am going to miss him very much.

I won't list Dr Dennett's books here, but rather two others that were pivotal in my life, before I found Dr Dennett's works... Brief Candle in the Dark, by Richard Dawkins The Demon-Haunted World, by Carl Sagan There are many others, too, now that scholarship on religion has exposed so much in the 20th and 21st centuries. Dr Dennett's books were dense and sometimes difficult to read, so it took me some time to get around them. He gave us the best of himself in all of them, however, and they are eminently worthy of reading and re-reading many times. Pure gold! I will always miss Dr Dennett and his kindness, sense of humanity, towering intellect and uncompromising stand for truth based on evidence and reasoning. 🎉

Dennett was my favorite of the four. I became an atheist at the ripe old age of 60, in 2016, on NYD. My best New Year celebration ever. I was familiar with Dawkins & I saw Hitchens on Bill O'Reilly. I had never heard of Harris or Dennett. It was Dennett that I adored. He took philosophical ideas & presented them in a way that even I could understand. Impossible...you're either one or the other....atheist...doesn't believe there's a god...theist believes there's a god.....only two choices...there's no need to make it so complicated.

@@miitheweirdartist6794 Recall what i said. It is quite possible to be neither a Christian nor an atheist. The thing is, in my religion, we are capable of balancing our faith and beliefs with the physical world. Science isn't a threat to us like it is to Christians. Evolutionary theory doesn't make us go running for the hills; it just bolsters our sense of wonder and awe at the natural world. So why am I on these atheist channels? Easy. We have a common enemy: Christians. They won't stop until they and they alone are the only allowed form of worship in the country again.

I like how few people are just saying "R.I.P" and most people are saying something unique and thoughtful. I think he would be proud to have inspired so many thinkers! Few people have made so much of their life as Dan. He was the cream of the crop of humanity. He paved the way to a better tomorrow for so many. Thanks for sharing the stories Aaron.

Nice tribute, AronRa, always wonderful when you get to meet a legend that is a humble and decent human. I have fond memories of the many appearances I have seem of the Four Horsemen and their fight for the sanity of science over superstition. You are certainly in their company. Keep up the fight brother.
