Totally agree with Krissy at the end there. Obviously the stories we have didn't happen. An interesting side note about the possibility that some animals can detect magnetic fields is that one of them are foxes. I'm not sure if it's true or not but there has been some research indicating they might be able to more accurately land a pounce on their prey (such as a mouse hiding under snow) depending on their orientation to the Earth's magnetic field. It certainly would be interesting if true, but it would nothing to do with telepathy.

Is DNA a 'code'... I mean, kind of... A lot of people talk of the DNA code as encoding 'information' about how to form proteins - but that is not really what 'information' is encoded in DNA. DNA stores information about what protein forms work in a particular environment sometime in the past. If an organism's ancestors had to live through an extended desert environment (for example), you will find proteins that work better in that kind of environment. That's not _nothing_, but it is not really a 'record' as we think of 'information' being. It also gets overwritten by more recent things. There's a lot of noise. Etc. We could (maybe) look at the Shannon entropy (or some other information-theoretic measure) that can tell us the maximum amount of 'information' that _might_ be in the genome, but there is no _minimum_ amount of information in a sequence (just by looking at a sequence - a random series of coin flips encodes no information at all, but the binary sequence it generates would have a high entropy. This is kind of where we are (about 10:00) - a sequence is not information, even if there is a code present. And - complexity doesn't imply a designer, as we are learning from cellular automata and chaos theory - very complex things can come from a small number of simple rules.
