I had the Quest 3 'die' as well but it didn't die, just seem to go into some sort of mode where it couldn't be switched on normally. You just need to hold power and volume together for 30 seconds and mine booted up again. Never had the issue again. Seems a lot of folks are thinking it died and are sending it back. Do some research people!

Typical problem solving option for mobile phones as well. Hold the power with volume (down) together, and magic happens.

This Happened to me but what's crazy is I WAS using Virtual Desktop, I had the fps set to 120, bit rate 80 but I was just on a party call on the quest 3 with a friend I wasn't playing anything cause for some reason when i tried to play zenith vr on virtual desktop it wouldn't see my touch controllers. so I gave up with that, quit virtual desktop, still on a party call, was playing cubism for a bit once i closed that app My Quest 3 just SHUT OFF it had like 40% left. I knew something was wrong cause its not supposed to shut off like that, I have the oculus quest 3 with elite strap and battery, so i started charging the elite strap and not seeing a led to let me know its charging so i was like maybe it needs time, so i watched a hour show on Netflix and went back to the headset still no led and still cant turn on the power, so i was like ok I'm gonna unplug the elite strap with battery and try to charge the headset directly for another hour, so 2 hours now still no led, so I tried the volume button and the power button, nothing, i just kept holding the power button and eventually it powered back on and haven't had a problem since though I never tried virtual desktop again yet.

I would be curious to know why the Q3 could overheat using a PC. Even at 90hz I would assume the processing is less when just displaying a game running on the PC than rendering the full game in standalone.
@hb-hr1nh Жыл бұрын
Press the power button and volume button down at same time for at least for 30 seconds, it worked for me. The light is purple at first, then yellow and finally green. I think this a factory reset. This happened in cable link, went black and won't turn on. When I got it to turn on again I had 70% power left I was at 90 hz. On Virtual Desktop it works flawless at 90 hz and it has the 120 hz option. Well worth the $20 for the virtual desktop app!

In fact, when mine died, it gave some text about getting hot and said it’s important to take it off now… A little concerning like it was gonna blow up in my face. Ultimately it shut down after beeping and making bad noises. We had been using it a grand total of 10 MINUTES! I have not changed any settings, so it cannot be connected to that. I already had to return the elite head strap because the piece that cradles your head on the back snapped off. I’m not thinking this is a great build. I have played other games longer and never ever seen this issue until today but once you have it, it starts repeating over and over every time you use it. By the way, the battery was at 85%. Why I’m getting over Heating issues on a climb 2 after 10 minutes… 10 minutes… Something else is going on! I usually have it run with my 4080 PC. But this time I brought it to a friends house so we did it as standalone and it lasted 10 minutes!

theres needs to be a recall on the devices - there are too many issues reported with the new quest 3 , I even had to return mine for bad mic issues, overheating, gprahical artifacts and the display burning out. i had to factory reset it many times with artifacts still appearing. was gonna buy a new one next week but i think i will just NOT ! untill these issues are fixed such as overheating and battery issues. meta should have waited and did more Research and development in regards to optimization and finding solutions for the battery issues. i still have my quest 2 for now. but maybe their will be another options down the line.
@xXShowGameXx Жыл бұрын
Mine did the exact same thing while battery at 40 % ! I really thought it died on me but holding the power button 30 sec fixed it. I think it's an issue that came with last update. That sucks cause a lot of users will send it back to repair thinking its dead.

Yes, found that the Q3 did not like any changes to the Debug.exe when using Airlink. Had no issues with the link cable though and could run it up to 940 with a excellent image. Own a G2 but prefer the Q3 with its edge to edge clarity. Have been running 72HZ. For my use case, so far happy with my purchase. Will although soon try Virtual Desktop over WiFi.

Never had my Quest 2 shutdown from heat and I live in Oz. I'm concerned about the reports of hardware issues with the Quest 3 and I'll probably not get one until I'm convinced they are resolved, as there's only the options of purchasing from Meta or Amazon's online stores. The dead/stuck pixels and other screen defects are even more of a concern than the overheating or battery and microphone issues.
@t3chnod3lic Жыл бұрын
I'm using my power bank (Rawpower 20,000 mah 18w / RP-PB172) that I used with my wireless OG Vive and it keeps the Q3 at 100% and after about 3-4 hours the power bank was down to 55%. The Q3 was maintained at 100% throughout the whole time. It's a bit heavy in the pocket, so looking for some other ways to wear it. Maybe headmounted with a 3D printed mount might not be a good idea cause of the weight. Either way, the power bank runs good with the Q3. I have heard that it's not good to keep a battery fully charged all the time. It can effect the life of the cells. So I think letting it drain every now and then is a good idea. Sorry you've had issues. I havent experienced anything like that yet. I'm now keeping my eyes peeled for other reports. Meta really need to get off their a$$ and sort the firmware out. Maybe they did release it too early. Not enough R&D. Could of been because of the losses they've suffered.

Pretty in-depth video, the reason that I am here is my quest 3 that I’ve owned since November randomly rebooted while playing contractors showdown standalone (right before I was gonna flank this guy too, sad day) It seemed like it was a shorter boot time than normal tho. Got the blue meta logo and then back to the main menu/passthru screen. On v62 software, going to update to v64 today I think. I had the resolution boosted a bit via quest game optimizer and had a 20w battery pack connected (as per usual) I’ve been playing the game for 4 months (since alpha/beta) 2-3 hours at a time with no issue I loaded up OVR metrics tool after the reboot and saw the battery was about 50° C when it usually is somewhere around 40-45 but I doubt that that variance in temperature is what caused the reboot, it could have been showdown, but it was still startling. I hope it was a one off occurrence as I’ve had ZERO issues with the headset and have been using it daily since launch

My 7 days new Oculus quest3 did similar at 70 Hz only been on a short while. It bombed out while in the passthrough. The picture was in the headset but not active other than if you move your head the picture moved as well. The reset trick did not work so I setup a return to amazon, After about 3 Hrs I checked it again to find the fans were running so I tried another reset, after several tries I got a result and eventually got it to work. So I cancelled my return. It looked as though a update had been applied, my personal details were there but not some selections I had made. It looks as though Oculus have a problem as this is not acceptable. I have until the end of the month to continue using it to see if the problem returns. If it does it is back to Amazon.

Why can't you pay for the subscription like everyone watching your videos has to do? It's not that expensive. Virtual desktop is like what $15-20 bucks? If you don't like it or it doesn't meet your expectations you can get a refund. This is strange. If Guy wants to comp your software he will, otherwise it sounds kinda entitled to demand it in exchange for a review.

I thought you already had virtual desktop? You pay 1000 for a headset and can't pay 20.00 for software that pays for itself with the content you create with it? Not trying to be a jerk but just pay for it like everyone else. It does suck about your Quest 3 overheating just for using 90hz. I still think there is some optimization that needs to be done with this chipset.

No I don’t have VD for quest only Pico 4 Relationships go both ways we provide lots of advertising and made him tons of money it’s only fair we get reciprocated as a form of mutual respect. I help tons of devs on the channel generating tens of thousands of views for them for free without asking for commission nor any other form of compensation, so please refrain from saying stuff like that. To say we haven’t supported him over the years is a bit insulting…Content per video takes at least 3 days when doing testing filming and editing…so maybe I should be paid for that then?
