I visit the Meucci Family Pool Hall in Byhalia Ms from time to time. Still family run. They pronounce it Mew-chi in the shop. Thats also were the cues are made. They have about 8 tables and a small shop in the back where they produce cues. Enjoyed the video , thanks. Ps. I use the predator z2 shaft on my 97-10. Love the combo with that cue.

Hi, off topic, but I just noticed that you have a Bank Shot Billiards tee shirt on. I lived in Louisville for 3 years, and that was a really nice pool hall. I heard they eventually sold the building, and closed. The last old school pool hall in Louisville. The old timers who hung out there seemed like Hustlers, lol, and I was told not to play those guys. The owners were really cool. I hear this new pool hall, Brick Yard Billiards, is amazing though. I hope to go back to Louisville someday. Great city. I really miss it. Nice Meucci cues, by the way. I very recently scored a very old Meucci Originals Lock and Key cue, from the 70's (from what I read). It is a pretty cool looking Meucci, I think.
@davidsiltz2 ай бұрын
After I moved back here in 1998, I was in there pretty much every night until I got a pool table in my house. Some of those guys might have been a little sketchy in the old days, but by the time I was hanging out there, they were mostly just railbirds.
@justinbryson2 ай бұрын
@ That is really cool. To be honest, I would mostly only go in there when I needed a tip put in my cue, which one of the co owners would do for me, for really cheap. Thinking back, I really wish I would have hung out there a lot more often. One of those old timers was really friendly, and a really good player.

I love Meucci cues, not just for the Playability but also for holding their value and quality. I have an original Gamblers with brass fittings one of the first in the 70s, a Casino 6, a Road Agent, a 21-3 and two Meucci diamonds. I bought one to try out. It is taking forever to get here. I ordered a 30 inch shaft and I guess that adds more than two months of leadtime in my case. I heard meucci got bought out but sounds like his daughter is still selling Meucci cues through the budget cue website.

I also heard they had been sold, but I never heard any details. Bob Meucci's daughter, perhaps. I'm not sure that would count as being sold.

These production cues, Meucci, McDermott, Schon, Pechauer are all decent cues for a beginner, or if you can’t afford better. But none of them hold a candle to a custom cue. I used to play league with a Viking then two Schon cues. Then I bought a Manzino. Wow, what a huge difference in the hit and overall playability! I long ago sold those production cues and now own 23 custom cues by 22 different cue builders. Every one of those cues puts those production cues to shame. If players are serious about their game, they should avoid the hype of the McDermott’s, the Meucci’s, and even the Chinese built Predators, and invest in a custom cue.
@davidsiltz10 ай бұрын
I will respectfully disagree. I have some customs that look fantastic, but don't hit nearly as well as some of my production cues. It's possible that you've gotten lucky, and it's also possible that you and I just have different tastes in good hitting cues.

And I really wish I had a Manzino. I've entered a few raffles, but I've not gotten lucky so far.

I don't understand what Meucci doesn't just make a wrapless cue instead of putting a coating over the linen.
@davidsiltz2 жыл бұрын
They were all like that back in the 1980s, at least all the Meucci cues that I saw back then. My HOF-1 does feel a little different that a straight wrapless cue would feel, but it's a very slight difference.

@@davidsiltz One of the players in my league has a Meucci and I held the wrap area. It felt strange to me. If felt a bit mushy but kind of plastic. I wasn't a fan of it.
@gman50512 жыл бұрын
Ya I agree ..kinda counterintuitive, but hey .. I guess that’s their trademark design , when I purchased a Muecci new and I opened it , I thought to myself where’s the wrap ? and I called Seyberts and they assured me it was wrapped . Black on black makes it difficult too
@davidsiltz2 жыл бұрын
@@gman5051 It doesn't bother me nearly as much as it used to. But I am still quite curious as to what happens when it inevitably wears out and needs to be redone. Seems to me that would require a total refinish of the cue.

@davidsiltz Жыл бұрын
If I assume that a Helmstetter hits like an Adam cue, then your two cues probably both have fantastic hits. To me, the Meucci cues have a softer and "whippier" hit to them. Some people really like that, but not me.
