I’ve been in the same job 19 years now and as a 59 year old its looking very unlikely id be retiring anytime soon do to not having the golden opportunity but i still live in hope. My midlife crisis brain decided to adopt a 1 year old Welsh Border Collie from the RSPCA last May thinking she will help me to get of my butt and start exploring the Uk with her as my last Dog who sadly died last October and I miss going to the various places and holidays with her. Well I took Millie with me to Cornwall as Id booked two weeks away last year which was for me and the Dog who died but we only lasted one week there because i quickly realise I can’t take Millie anywhere apart from going back the next day to apologise for her behaviour 😂, yes she has issues 😢 She is beautiful and very much loved and well worth taking many hours each day working on her in hope she will learn manners and become more stable so we can start going to places. My fingers are crossed. What your doing is not insane, its called living your life to the fullest with no regrets. I love watching you adventurous life. ❤

TAKAYAMA!!! A place of huge significance to us..... We had our first romantic trip there = 11 years or so ago.We love the town. We stayed in a ryokan - the traditional Japanese inns....It was a magical experience for us both. I am home alone today, my wife is away working in Yokohama until the weekend. I could watch and love this video and my wife would not complain if I did.....However have to stop watching now , as I know she would love to enjoy this together,,,,as we did on our own visit. Ahhhh we are enjoying your videos and wish we had found them earlier. Thank yo so much and we will watch at the weekend....mata ne....

I'm absolutely loving following your travels. It's really giving me the travel bug. I never thought of it as a midlife crisis, but I'm doing things things for myself that I never would of in the past. I think the most "mad" thing I've been doing is traveling thousands of miles to go to concerts of musical artists that will never come close to performing near my small Texas town.

hello! been watching for some time and made me miss my road trip in japan in june. if you can familiarise yourself with these characters, would really help with driving: 止まれ/tomare - its usually a red sign in a triangle. it means stop. a local advised us to always stop even though there are no cars. 円 - yen, the currency, money 分 - minutes so the sign said 20分200円 so it means 20 minutes 200 yen :) saying hello from singapore 😊

By now, you are probably noticing that it's getting warmer and more humid daily. You will be constantly sweating buckets and losing salt from your body, and maybe getting heat stroke :-( Please eat some salt candy, ume boshi and miso soup (you can get them at 7-11, etc.) daily. Also, I think the southern route will be better/ easier. In China, they might think that you look suspicious or maybe spies, and get arrested. Please take extra care of yourselves. btw, I really love watching your travels. You are a wonderful young couple :-)

I don't think mid life crisis is a thing really, I just think if you're quite a busy sort of person and retire from a job or career in your mid to late 50's as my hubby did you need a way to occupy yourself, so people with active minds like to challenge themselves that's all. It's usually a good thing in my opinion. I've struggled to retire 100% as I'm 6 years younger than hubby. We plan to explore a lot more in Turkey and in UK now.

may I inquirer as to why Marianne is always in the drivers seat?

Because men can't ask for directions...

The reason I ask is my failing eyesight is probably going to end my 40 year driving career and my Japanese wife is going to have to pick up the reins as there are so many places here in Japan we still want to visit. We traveled a lot together on my Harley Davidson but a back injury put an end to our bike trips😢

They have discussed it in a past video. Marianne is just more comfortable and relaxed in the driver's seat. Kris does drive sometimes. My husband and I are the same way. I'm a very nervous passenger, so I almost always drive when we're together in the car.

In addition to all the things ,its been very challing learning second language , adaptation to a new country, making new friends, trying to take a part there and much more.l have been happier than l used to and getting used to all those things now .If l gave advice those who are same as me ,it would be "never give up " keep going ,smiling and always dreaming where you wanna see yourself in your life
