Great video. I would like to recommend a blender called the Nutri-Bullet . It works great! I make a smoothie every morning with it. I use a handful of baby spinach, a banana, a cup of frozen mango chunks, about a quarter cup of kifir, and a handful of almonds. Blend this with the nutribullet and it is delicious.

Bonjour Brittany. I wish you had shown closer the figs you like so much. I particularly appreciate the calabacita ones. They are not as dried as the others, though I rehydrate them anyway. I used to be a big fan of zagros ones as well but hadn't find any for a long time. My minimalist choice for my kitchen would be you. Thanks for the vid.

Fredinotmercurybut Bonjour! Here is a picture of those same figs I like from my Instagram feed: instagram.com/p/zBp38Elt6Q/?taken-by=simpleliving13 They are actually fresh figs that have been frozen, as opposed to dried figs. Rehydrating them is a great idea. Thanks for reaching out and sharing!

***** Hello Brittany. Woah, organic frozen figs for $2,79 per pounds, you're blessed guys in Austin. I would so wish to find these in France. I have never come across even non organic frozen ones. That gives me the idea of growing a fig orchard to sell the figs frozen.Thanks also for the links to the peelers I saw in other of your reply comments here cause I was about to ask you to show them in use. Would make an interesting video if you shown us meal preps of yours. I'm so grateful I found your channel that is spot on with my aspirations.

Hey Brittany! I really enjoyed this video and it was super inspiring for me to simplify my diet! My question for you is, what do you eat to get protein in? What are some simple sources? Thank you

FitMommy4Life It's great to connect with you! Thanks so much for reaching out. I'm so glad you found inspiration in this video. I get my protein from veggies and fruit. Andrew Perlot does a great article about vegetable protein here if you are interested in reading more: www.raw-food-health.net/VegetableProtein.html . He does a much better job explaining the science behind it than I could. I just know that I have felt better these last 3 years eating this way than ever before and have gained more muscle and overall health.

Gevedon Ooh, that sounds so delicious! What a great snack. The ultimate chopper sounds great for all the sauces you make with it. Oh man, banana ice cream is the best! I just chop up my ripe bananas and freeze them. Then I put them in the vita mix with a tiny bit of water and mix until it's creamy smooth! Sometimes I add carob to make it like "chocolate ice cream" sometimes I add chunks of frozen cherries and blend just a bit, or I add frozen blueberries. Or sometimes I make a chocolate sauce to go over my nice cream... clearly you can tell I am quite fond of it :)

Those romaine hearts can be a great substitute for the dinner carb. One way to prepare them is to coat them in olive oil, fry on both sides, then salt, pepper, and garlic. Not quite the whole food approach, but tasty.

Great Video!!! Thank you for this one. Thats true about rinsing off dishes. Never thought of that. Where did you get your noodle thing and the mason jar? I love that lid too. I watched a video the other day where a lady made her own dressing and did a layered salad in a mason jar. She said it keeps well and its easy to just toss in her bag for lunch when shes on the go. That would be something cool to throw in your bag for when you get on a plane :) What's your preferred source of protein? Can you freeze watermelon??
@BrittanySTaylor

FiftiesFatimah It's great to hear from you. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, I love not having to spend a long time washing things! I got the mason jar from my parents, who buy them in bulk. I think you can get them at places like Walmart and also a lot of supermarkets. The lid I found at a hardware store. The peelers are amazing. You can order them online here: www.shimono.com.sg/multi-purpose-peeler. The salad in a jar idea is great! Fruits and veggies are my favorite source of protein. Andrew Perlot does a great article on veg protein here if you are interested in learning more: www.raw-food-health.net/VegetableProtein.html You can totally freeze watermelon.

Kim M I'm so glad that you are enjoying my videos and finding inspiration there. I am honored! I like that idea for a video. I did do one "minimalist fitness" video, but it's more geared towards body-weight exercises you can do anywhere. I find they are really helpful and fun for building strength, cardio, agility. For flexibility I like stretching and yoga. Acro is by far my favorite form of play, though. And I think you can start no matter where your ability level is! All you need is a willing friend or two to play with :). There are some great beginner videos, which is how I originally learned (I had no gymnastics type skills either). If you are interested, here are some good ones to start with: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZmTm3eBirtqhrc. I hope this is helpful! Have fun and thanks again for reaching out!

Kim M Thanks for your interest- it's great to get to share this. I am planning to do a "day in the life" video soon and talk more about what I do for exercise, so this is helpful to have in mind before I film that. Crossfit is a lot of fun- awesome that you are doing that along with your bodyweight program. Great to connect with you!

NoProGoPronto Just raw fruits and veg feels best for me. If I were going to have cooked food I'd stick to steamed veggies that digest well for me, like mushrooms, zucchini, and peppers. really nice, informative video ! :) it makes one want to become raw vegan ! But I am afraid of not being able to get back to a more conventional diet if I decide to stop eating raw, as the body might not be able to digest other foods anymore... do you feel like your diet bothers your family/friends when you see them and they want to share a turkey for thanksgiving for example ?
@BrittanySTaylor
@BrittanySTaylor 9 жыл бұрын
+joys simple freedom Thanks so much for watching and reaching out about this! Great questions. I have noticed that my body is definitely more picky about what I put into it than when I ate a more conventional diet, or maybe I am just more in tune with it and notice the contrast of not feeling so good. Since I've been eating this way for nearly 4 years my family and friends are all accustomed to it. Many of them have gained inspiration and actually changed their diets since, which has been fun to watch unfold. There was definitely a time when my loved ones didn't seem to know how to react to what I was eating. The more I felt comfortable with it, the more I noticed they did too. And by emphasizing that I wanted to do what felt best for me and encouraged them to do whatever they wanted for them, letting them know that I supported their own self care seemed to really make a difference. Just another chance to practice supporting one another in all our beautiful differences and sharing what matters and feels good- love, connection, compassion, etc. Thanks again for asking about this. Great topic :). All the best to you!

I really hate zucchini noodles! Lol, I feel like such a weirdo in the Vegan community because of it. I've tried really hard to like them but I just don't. I haven't tried cucumber noodles yet (surprisingly) but I'm going too! Do you ever put a tomato sauce on top of them or do you stick with sweet and savory dressings for them? I was also wondering how you use your figs?
@BrittanySTaylor
@BrittanySTaylor 10 жыл бұрын
Rocky Mountain Fruity hahah, I totally feel you on the zucchini noodles! I was never a big fan and they didn't digest well for me. I found out about cucumber noodles about 2 years ago and I've been hooked ever since! The only thing is, you really need peeler that is smaller than a spiralizer to make them. I also recommend squeezing them out with your hands to ring out the extra juice before eating them with a sauce. I love making tomato sauce to go on top of my noodles. So delicious! Although, they are really great topped with just about any sauce. I like to eat the figs on their own as they thaw out. I also like to put them in smoothies. I don't usually drink juice, but I've been finding frozen fig and fresh apple juice to be amazing lately! The figs would be good with a number of other fruits in a smoothie too, like bananas. Or you could make a fig sauce of some sort to put over other fruits. Thanks so much for reaching out! It's great to connect with you!

I tried eating only raw fruits and veggies once, I found that I got hungry really fast, really quickly. I feel like if I only ate raw fruits and veggies, I would have to be eating almost constantly in order to not have that gnawing hunger feeling all the time.
@BrittanySTaylor
@BrittanySTaylor 10 жыл бұрын
fuzzyorangeroses Yes, I can definitely understand this. I know a lot of people struggle with that initially- there is definitely a period of calibration where your stomach is getting used to handling a larger volume of food in one sitting. Since fruits and veggies are less calorically dense, we need to eat more to get our calories in. I think it's cool that you tried this out! I am sure wherever you are in your food journey is perfect for you- you know what is best. Thanks for sharing your experience here!
