I'm glad I saw this video. It's refreshing seeing someone that will admit they messed up and put it out there for us to learn from. I'm in Southern Illinois and we have temps that can range from 70°F to below 0°F in the same week in January and February. I had planned on building headway battery and still do but now I know some of the issues that would have been catastrophic for me. I have remote start with a normal charge rate at 15v ,my car and house would have been on fire before I noticed. Thank you for the information. I'm sorry to hear about the cancer. My mom recently found out that she has cancer as well. I sincerely hope that you get well and beat this like you did that flaming headway.

yeah man i wanted a bank like this but the temps here in Illinois are ridiculous. They fluctuate so much that im sticking to mainly agm. i do have a cap bank from D4s but i plan to take it out before winter. Its in my car now but i got a fan on at all times in my truck to cool the batteries and cap bank. It was worrying me when i would be away from my vehicle. Also Im sorry to hear about your mom, Mine passed in 2019 from stage 4 breast cancer. God speed my guy! You guys will be in my prayers!

Thank you for making this video. I have been thinking about getting some lithium batteries for a while now and you described my situation perfectly. I know nothing about lithium batteries and I would have probably just watched a few videos about how to set them up and then instead them. Then when it gets cold this winter I would have probably lost my Suburban that I have started using for my system. That would have been extremely difficult for me seeing how I just lost my home back in January this year along with everything else that my wife and I owned. That being said I really appreciate the information that you provide here and anyone else that doesn’t can eat a big bag of eggplants !!!!! Keep up the good work and I’ll be watching out for the next video.

I always encourage people to research before they buy something but the problem I run into is some people only want to find answers that fit their narrative. They will sometimes only look at the positive points and ignore the negative. There's a lot more to research than how many amp hours do I need.

I am the person you are talking about who just decided not long ago to get into competitive audio and upgrade from the daily driver stock setup and I went through the headway super beast then the jag35 74AH Lev60 pro V2 and now I'm running a 29AH SCIB bank from NORTHWEST LITHIUM and I honestly wish I had ordered the SCIB first it's safer than headway and majority of other cells I never had any problems with it and it's a power house literally it's a monster headway and other lifepo4,li ion just don't compare

I'm going with an extra agm instead. I've been checking forums about Lithium. It's way too many choices, and tons of confusion out there about it. Your story is about 1 of 100 extra where someone said their car burnt down that I've read. Things could go sideways with any battery sure but...them Lithium fires apparently rage harder too😅 Thanks for further insight👍

That's why we research before buying headway has been out years now instructions say don't charge over 14.6 volts. I've had no issues with my headway had them few years now with proper maintenance occasionally inspecting & topping off should be fine

i ask on other places because i knew a lil dealing with lipo custom mods an 18650 cell and the 26 series they did like cold and hade to thaw and not leave battery in car i live in mid west and that was my concern

It's a good warning,, any lithium comes with a huge risk,, and hopefully the new guys see this you might even save somebody's life,, but in the end it is not headway's fault for user error and you will have to admit that was a cascade of user error that caused them to explode,,, if you use the hardware that comes with the bus bars in case then properly from shorts use the proper balancer you should have no serious problems,,, and unfortunately headway is some of the safer lithium,, unfortunately we are always going to choose the cheaper way out 64 hours from JY power for $800 or 64 hours headway for $200

I have 144 ah headway with no problem 2 years in I charge at 14.3 for the most but if u have bad cells that mayb the problem so check them before building them

it was below freezing iisay these not good foe cold places and turning own they were frozen .so the hassle is taken these out in the winter which is a no go u ask ppl about cold weather they ignore it not him.. but others when ask haven't got any answer who dies answer are solar guys do answer that what he said voltage and he was in cold Missouri in tge winter you b need warmers and or in heated building

In mid 2024 Headways are no longer a viable option. I ran Headways for about 2 years. They "were" a good option at the time but not any longer. There are newer cells now that surpass Headway & are only a few dollars more. Sodium cells, Yinlong & Plannano LTO. Glowe Voltage has a new Headway cell replacement battery that uses the same Headway bussbars you may have but utilizes a better cell technolgy. Headways are not rated for any charging over 14.6 & they only provide the most power around 13.2 volts. I purchased a better alternator that allows me to add diodes. I am running it at 15.3 volt & my Headways have been sold. I purchased 48ah of Plannano LTO. I have virtually no voltage drop. My Plannano keeps me at 15.1 volts at full tilt. Even without the doide my alt runs at 14.8 & my Nano bank keeps my voltage in the high 14s. Most Headways still on the market are from 2017-2020, used cells. Yes they are the cheapest but the most failure prone. Just get a newer technology & you'll be better off. If you are running stock alternators with stock voltages then Sodium cells is the answer. There is also alot more involved when using used Headway cells. The internal resistance needs to be checked also before building a bank of them which requires a cheap inexpensive meter, not a volt meter / DMM. If the cell is over 2.5 mΩ, it is trash. It's like buying a bad used car battery as a daily driver. It will fail.
