Pixie believed that she didn`t have the means to achieve anything in life. She would have if she had returned to school after her first marriage, or even the second marriage, broke down. OP had worked for years with the objective of home ownership. She had a goal in mind and took the necessary steps to reach it. She saved money and lived frugally. However, Pixie played the victim. Returned to mommy while still expecting the best of everything. OP deserved to buy her own home and refuse to have her sister stay with her. She would never be able to shift Pixie. While it wasn`t stated, there is an old phrase that applies: You don`t have to set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm.

I get it, trust me. But, here's the kicker. You've kicked ass in working and saving hard, with your mom busy with your sister, you had a plan and you got that house because you were driven.
