So yes, I had the support of my spouse but let me tell you it is not easy !!! it comes with its obstacles ! and you will feel regret ! you will not get the help from your mother you are looking for because once she sees that you’re doing everything she can’t she’s gonna leave it all up to you, it takes a real strong person to take on custody of a broken child, while being a broken child/adult, recovering from the wounds you faced from your mothers trauma as well. There’s gonna be days where your little brother will not show you appreciation he will just “act out”, please seek help & guidance, or counseling in those moments, because that is just the trauma that needs to be broken. If you do fall through this, I pray for your strength and your courage. may peace be with your family.

this one got me crying. im 24 and took my brother in about a year ago after our parents drug him around like a burden or luggage and neglected him his whole life. we're on track now and he has his own place and everything. working too and he knows im right down the road. his mannerisms were like Troy when he got here and it was so heartbreaking. my little brother is a head taller than me now, but he was close to me in weight and we were both underweight. these sorts of situations are so heartbreaking and suffocating. i felt like i swapped ages with my parents and it was difficult at first. but we have good friends now around us and we help each other with what we have. it's just painful that this happens so frequently. i love the big sister in this video so much. she gives me strength. I tried to get my brother when i was 19, but things didn't work out then. My brother is only 5 years younger than me so he isn't the baby I carried on my hip growing up. But it is difficult to show him to be a kind and responsible man when I've been left by family and only just recently graduated. But he's growing into a wonderful person and I'm so happy. To Kaia and Troy, best of luck. It can be painful, but it is worth it.

It was obvious that the mom has a struggle and she was lying about her problems. First is admitted and the daughter has been enabling her. I'm soooooo happy that they're finding a resolution

Right? She was defending her mother and the young child being so quiet. It’s all so terrible. She was sitting up there lying.

I honestly think she just wants her baby brother. I think she just will enable her mom to a place where she has no choice but to give her Troy. Not from a selfish place but just because she knows she can provide better.

I am a big sister that had to care for a brother and a sister due to the addictions of our parents. I feel you sis. You will help him get there and it will come together fast because Troy is a teen. I pray that all goes well for you and yours. If it gets rough a few times just hang in there and work through. I know you and Troy can do it. I hope Mom can get the desire in her heart to get off the cocaine. She is beautiful and still has a lot of living to do as well. Great work Karamo!!!!! Keep us up on their progress and let us know if they need a helping hand.

I knew mom was still on drugs and could tell before the results. Nonetheless, she seems sincere. The daughter is very passionate and is the glue to this whole thing. They're on the right path as everyone was calm and seemed open minded to healing.

I was going through this situation just a couple months ago. My mother chose her new man over me, and kicked me out cause I was too toxic apparently, can't shut up, and I didn't do anything. Telling you now, I wanted a job at 16 to start saving up, but she told me no live your life. I tried to live my life, but I couldn't having to raise and take care of my siblings. She didn't work, so she could have took care of them but she preferred to stay in her room on the phone from the moment she woke up till the moment she went to bed. I cooked and did laundry and cleaned behind a family of 6 and when he moved in I did such for a family of 7,but when she told me she was pregnant around my birthday I couldn't do it. I refused to raise another child that I didn't birth. So I did start trying to live my life after that,we got into plenty of arguements where I tried to get her to understand my point of view or how I felt or when there was something she could have done, and when she was being a hypocrite, which happened often. I tried working at Taco Bell for about a week, but I had to quit because working in a Spanish dominated territory, Nobody spoke English except the manager, and she was never there. And I remember, this day, October 19th, she kicked me out to live with my grandmother. She told me she would keep and raise my cat, but I had to kill my fish because that was going to be no one else's responsibility, despite brothers saying that they wanted to keep the fish, so I did as such which was heartbreaking and moved in with her mother and fyi staying in that house got very Depressive, houses have a certain tone to it when you know the people who have died in it. So I moved to Arkansas, where I connected with my dad's side of the family who I haven't seen since I was under the age of 10 because of her, and the rest of my mom's side of the family. I mean, at least now my great aunt, Catherine picks me up, and we'll hang out from time to time. I'll be at her house for most of the time, but I originally lived with my dad's mom and staying at the house by yourself in the middle of the woods for 12 hours, doesn't really do good on the mind. At least I'm able to find a job down here and I start in on the 6th of March. Wish me luck cause this could be the changing point of my life
