After watching her face light up during that letter, I’m realizing that her hurt/trauma is bc her father left. Lowkey she might be acting out to get the father to come back. She probably feels if she get in really bad trouble that it would be enough for him to return back to America. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I think he would've got a better reception if he talked to the kids backstage in a secluded environment with a counselor available. Unpacking past trauma is never easy, especially from teenagers who barely know how to process their emotions in healthy ways. When the girl kept saying "I don't know" she probably really don't know why she keeps making terrible decisions, she's operating from a place of trauma. She needs professional help to unpack and process her trauma responses.

I feel like Karamo is taking the right approaches here, but it’s tough to open up when you’re scared, let alone in front of a studio audience. As a kid it’s common to be worried you’ll get in trouble. But in a controlled environment (e.g., private counselling session), you can make a lot more breakthroughs

First and foremost I know this beautiful woman personally and applaud her for reaching out trying to get help with her babies it's not easy to ask for help, teenagers are hard to raise period but even more so now that covid has them so messed up emotionally. I'm a single mother myself raising a 15 year old so I can totally relate. We have a horrible mental health system in the United States with an ugly stigma when it comes to discussing mental health issues.. it does take a village to raise a child but when the village is lacking resources in certain areas it can be very frustrating. Mama you keep your head up beautiful I know it's hard but your babies will appreciate your strength and when they're old enough and the frontal lobe has fully developed LOL they will understand ❤

This episode really touched me. There are a lot of layers to this young lady pain. The question was ask if she was initiated into a gang. She replied yes. I really feel that she wanted to express herself but not to violate the code she shut down. Also the question was never ask if she had been sexually violated in any way. I get the vibe that something traumatic has happened to her. And the brother wants to protect his sister by following along to a certain point. Yes she needs counseling to get to the root cause of her pain. And maybe then the two siblings will open up to there parents.

I feel very much so for this Mom. Different circumstances with my youngest daughter who is 15 and her children. Very different culturally as well. I am grateful that I have had the ability to get her mental health help since she was young. She is still struggling, but not like this. It is easy for us to lose track of our blessings in certain things. These kids though, I honestly was surprised by them being as open as they were. He says he has these goals, but he is treading a fine line. I truly hope he gets with someone to guide him and help him from getting to where his sister is. He may already be there and just not being as open as she is. I hope that the therapist she is paired with can reach her. I truly do. Mom is trying, that is plain to see. Mistakes are definitely being made, but that is learning as a parent and trying to do better with what is available. I truly hope this family gets the support they truly need.

Personally, they'd be outta my house simply because not knowing what they're doing outside they could possibly bring problems to our home...DAMN THAT!! Mom needs to demand her respect though. I think to keep peace in the household she's gifting them a lot. I see how expensive they look for tv. She has to make them earn their looks and get jobs.

Sometimes it is the home environment, but sometimes there's the outsider environment. My momma had 2 kids, single, worked in aerospace, provided every single need and more. We spent quality time together, we were well behaved kids. My brother went to 2 private schools, paid for by my momma. At 12years old, under the influence of a friend's older brother, my brother started getting into trouble. Juvenile Hall, CYA, then eventually prison. In and out of prison..to this day... He is 52. My momma tried counseling, and he was doing well until he left the facility. He played sports and was a great quarterback. But his choices caused him to be where he is now.. and now on top of that, he is on drugs for over 5 years. My momma passed away of cancer, and I assume he felt guilty for what he pit her through. She practiced tough love. He couldn't live with us as a gang member, with that street life. Wasn't going to happen. Oh and my momma was a teenager, 16 having my brother and worked, lived on her own and provided us stability. He made choices and messed up his opportunities because of fast money because his allowance wasn't enough.

what happened between her being 2-3 years old and the pandemic? Mom says they were close when she was 2-3, then the pandemic hit and the child had new friends, etc. The child is 16, so that leaves roughly 13 years unaccounted for. What happened? I'm only 4 minutes in, so perhaps it will come out later on in the episode, but I would be interested in knowing what happened in those years.

The problems start at home, the boundaries and disrespect occurs when the children are little and they grow up to parrot what the parents do. You can tell from the mother's behavior and vernacular.. look how she carries herself on television! Imagine what a mess she is behind doors. Hardworking doesn't mean she can't be a bad parent. The little girl said she was scared when her mom opened the door to physically hit her, she put her legs up to defend herself. Why was that glossed over? How often is this girl beaten as "discipline"?

Respectfully Pending the community you come from and this can be perceived as beating! I was definitely Spanked, and I was definitely given what we call a in the black community a whipping. I am not related to any crimal act, but i went through some of the same thing, living in a low income home/neighborhood, being raised by a single parent with my other parent in another county doing his best, and having moved houses. Change is a really big step especially when you grew with people they considered family and i can tell they are lashing out because they don't think they fit in or are constantly think about going back, they don't consider their current area as a home yet. That can change by going out an exploring the area, but if they finding "friends" who give them that, they won't care about doing risky activities with the condition of feeling at home, that they belong
