I had a friend when I was younger who lived with her dad and her uncle. Me and my family would visit often and even spend the nights there. My mom was like a mother to her. My mom would often sleep in the same room as us, since there wasn't enough rooms for everyone. She would cuddle with my mom often, and I didn't know why. But one night, before we fell asleep, she said "My mom used to hold me like this. But I don't get to see her anymore." I never knew about her mom. But soon I found out her mom would let the men she dated do bad things to her. And she knew about it. When the authorities found out, they took her away from her mom.

I’m 21, and I still have depression. The thing I learned to accept is that depression is just another form of sadness. It’s stronger, and you might not be able to get rid of it forever, but you can control it. It just takes time. I know you can do it. Why? Because you are a warrior. You are strong enough to know you’re broken, but even stronger to put yourself back together. Just take it slow. The past is gone, the future is too far ahead, and the present is all that matters.

I think most people don't know how to help and are just ill trained with how to even be kind to people going through ruff situations. Truth is most people even in most descent families don't like to talk about sensitive topics that have big affects on our lives. It creates such a problem because all these things kept secret in society creates obstacles against healing and help. I don't downplay on the emotions behind sensitive topics but not talking about them doesn't help one bit, imagine if that was us. I think at least the first step to helping someone is just being a friend, a person that will care to listen and be there as best they can and go from there.
