The age gap I could tolerate if the younger of the two was an adult, like 22 or something. But she was literally a child and him an adult. Also, that thing about the police not caring about the assault because she was old to consent is ridiculous. She didn't consent to being assaulted. I hope she gets the justice she deserves and that predator is locked up for as long as possible.

Btw, theres further updates: after the stepbrother got arrested the mom started harassing op and demanding she pay bail for him. Op declined, so the mom tracked her down in a hotel room (turns out there was a tracker under the car) and physically attacked her until hotel security arrived. The mom got the room number from a receptionist after claiming op was suicidal after her "fiancé" got arrested on false charges. Despite Op going to the police they didnt file charges cause the cops didn't believe an elderly woman like the mom would be much danger. She still got arrested eventually for tax fraud and larceny so that's good news. Noone knows what the stepbrother wanted the baby for.

*TRIGGER WARNING* This sounds like my story. Mom wanted a boy, I was a girl. She hated me as a child and sold me to a man in his 40s, from the age of 10 years old to 12 and a half years old. I was almost 13 when he got arrested for it. Around the time my class in school had started sex ed, I remember telling him I did not want to have a baby, as I had started my periods the month before his last time seeing me. He SA'd me anyway without a condom, as usual. Luckily I did not get pregnant and was not left infertile from it. He was not violent, I learned to become limp, so that it hurt less and tune it out mentally. I eventually got the courage to tell on him, once I knew what he was doing was not his right. This was after my sex ed teacher talked about consent and what SA was. He had been telling me that it was his way of showing his love and helping me develop my body faster. That this was normal and everyone did this to help kids grow up. Its just something we don't talk about. When I told, my mother's first reaction was to call me a lying little b*tch. Then when we went to court and I had to testify in front of a jury, answering embarrasing questions requiring way too much detail of acts done to me, through tears, she played the loving mother who was distraught over what he did. She SOLD ME! I did not find out how involved she was until I was in my 20s. By then she had died and I could not press charges on her for it. I am in my 30s now, and my body still has the trauma responses, despite the therapy and work to find sex enjoyable. The US law is a joke because they only gave him 10 years to serve plus 10 years probation for me, while he was a repeat offender for the same crime against a previous girl. He was given 7 years to serve for her plus 7 years probation. Dude was taking me with him after SA'ing me, leaving me to wait in the car while he met with his probation officer. FOR THREE YEARS! First time offenders need to be castrated. Repeat offenders need to be unalived. That's how I feel.

The mother's hatred for her own daughter, simply for being born a girl, reminds me of my father's late mother, who was the opposite; she tried to ignore me and my younger brother simply because we were boys, and she believed that mom had to have all girls for her children to be worth a damn. Luckily, my parents weren't very willing to allow this behavior in their presence, and they forced her to acknowledge me and my brother as her grandchildren. I didn't actually know about any of that until we were adults, so fortunately no lasting psychological damage was done to either of us because of that.
