My last job + the summer heat sucked the life out of me, which left my hair very neglected and in poor shape. Now that I've been one-week free of that job, I'm ready to re-start self-care routines that fell by the wayside, including a scalp reset! I have a scalp treatment and a scalp oil that I never use, but now I have better ideas on how to incorporate them! My goal is to set myself up for not only the next job that comes my way, but also the concert I'm attending at the end of next month! I don't need a glow-up, but it won't hurt, either! Crossing my fingers that between your videos I've been binging + following through actual practicing, it'll be smooth sailing once the day of the concert comes along!

About 8 months ago, I stopped using shampoo. I use rhassoul clay about once a week tok cleanse my hair and scalp. My curl pattern, which was stretched from constantly keeping up my hair, has been restored 💜

@@minnitreez333 I thoroughly mix ½ cup aloe juice, ½ cup water, and 2 Tbsp rhassoul clay with 3 drops of peppermint essential oil, and 3 drops of lavender essential oil. I squirt this liquid all over my scalp, and cleanse with a silicone scalp scrubber, then squeeze the liquid through the rest of my hair. I squeeze my hair lengths all over a few times, then rinse. I repeat the whole process, then I rinse again with a VERY diluted mixture of water an about ½ a Tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Then, I rinse out the ACV mixture.

This video is filled with so much great advice! Thank you for taking the time to make it! Your tips have changed my curls and I couldn’t thank you any more. My question is how would I know if my hair is healthy enough for brush styling - I have been doing it for a while and I am happy with the results and my curl pattern from it but my hair could definitely be described as a little more tame. Maybe that’s just because it’s not nearly as frizzy?

Thank you for adding that some of us are a liiitle early in our hair journey to worry about brushes, lol! I recently cut my coarse wavy hair because it was soo stiff and dry and ...I was mad at it, I confess. Then I finally used a chelating shampoo and suddenly my conditioners conditioned. Also, I added Eva NYC's Smoothing Cream and wow, suddenly soft hair. Buuuut unfortunately, my hair is still in a pixie and therefore has limited wave/curl. I'll have to focus exclusively on its health a while longer. Lesson learned.

Would you recommend a clear gloss for uncoloured curly hair? Wondering if it'll help tame frizz in the winter! (or even a coloured gloss? I have greys haha)

I use a pretty cheap oil (vatika) but my hair always feels so good after (I do have to wash twice with it). Sometimes I am too lazy (or depressed) and I end up spreading the wash (Oil and detangle night before, bonnet away, wash next day) over couple days. Acc using oil is the only time my hair looks greasy so it motivates me to wash it where when it's just dry and frizzy I can justify putting it in a rough bun

You are a brave woman. Good job! If possible, could you please make a video on regrowing naturally curly hair after chemotherapy? After having long hair my whole life, I lost it all during chemo. My hair is back (thank goodness!), and I now have a curly pixie about 3.5 inches long after seven months. However, it is almost impossible to find anything useful on the internet about getting through the awkward stages back to long because any search that includes "curly" just gets straight-haired women oohing and aahing over their chemo curls. Any advice you can give would be hugely appreciated by all of us coming back from beyond. Many thanks!

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about a year ago, so now I have to wear a CPAP mask to sleep in. There’s a velcro-esque strap that goes around the back of my head and a fabulous tube situation that comes up the sides of my head to meet up with a valve on the top of my head. I’ve been trying all kinds of ways to maintain my curls overnight but nothing I’ve tried so far works with the mask straps, which have to be pretty snug to keep a good seal on the mask. I end up sleeping in a braid-fine for waves, but curl killing. CPAP specific channels have nothing-One reddit poster asking how to manage sleeping in rollers while wearing her mask got a lot of flack about vanity-one comment suggested she cut her hair short and stop complaining. Have any of your clients had to deal with this? Any wisdom from the community? (p.s. I’m not a morning person. If I have to shower etc in the morning I won’t be ready to face the day until noon. Just heading that off-obv that’s the best solution but it’s just not going to happen!)
@yc09953 ай бұрын
Idk if you managed to solve anything but instead of using a bonnet I sleep with a satin pillow cases and instead of doing the pineapple ponytail because it gets in the way of the straps I do it a bit lower. I also have some satin beanies that definitely don't interfere with the masks but I honestly hate wearing bonnets to sleep, I get too hot. I also saw someone on reddit mention they use skull caps (helmet liners). I also try not to over tighten it because I've read it could cause some damage to the hairline and too also get mask liners for the frame (I wish someone came with a version lined with satin). As far as refreshing, I use a bit of water and a refreshing spray (rn I use the one from the mane choice and I've also used the one from Cantu).
@katherinewolbrink24663 ай бұрын
@@yc0995 Thank you!!! I have tried a satin pillowcase instead of a bonnet and I think that helps, but I've noticed breakage at my nape and I think that's from the tension of the braid against the back strap--another reason a braid isn't great for me. I might try some different positions for my pineapple. I sleep hot also so I don't think a beanie will work for me!
@yc09953 ай бұрын
@katherinewolbrink2466 Yeah I've read that the placement of the strap on the head can cause breakage in that area as well. I've also thought about putting on a headband to act as a bridge between the mask and my hair but Idk if that would work

Hi, I'm really enjoying your videos! I have learned so much and have watched and rewatched some, taking notes, lol. I have a few questions, please. 1- if a second cleanse is needed, would you use the same Briogeo product or a different gentler shampoo? 2- where in this routine would you apply a blow dry cream such as Redken frizz dismiss rebel tame? Would a blow dry cream also be applied in sections and brushed through like a leave in? Do you apply before the foam gel? 3-would you apply hair oil the next day on your ends? Thanks so much, and happy belated birthday!!! I hope your party was fantastic!

So i have a 2b-2c type hair. If i put all my hair up in a half ponytail at night, the hair at the bottom becomes straight from sleeping on it. But it's the exact same if I only put half of my hair up and just push the rest of the hair up in the bonnet like you've said. Or if i do your new method of the top half up and the rest pushed down in the natural direction, I still get flat hair in the back from sleeping on it. I don't know what to do!! It's super annoying.

@ManesByMell11 ай бұрын
K18 takes 4 minutes to penetrate into the strand and then the hair has been repaired. It’s not meant to be rinsed out, but you also want to put it on clean hair (without conditioner!) the light rinse afterwards didn’t rinse out the benefits of the k18 - according to the brand :)

Hi Mel ❤ Question for you: I recently got curly bangs and I’m struggling to find a good way to sleep and plop with them. Right now I’m not using a bonnet and pineapple-ing the length of my hair in order to keep my bangs out. If I put them in a bonnet they get scrunched up and I have to re-wet them to stretch them out every morning (something I’d like to avoid). Same goes for plopping so I haven’t been doing that at all, though I liked to for about ten minutes prior to getting bangs. Any advice? Thank you! ❤

I feel like my hair breaks so easily (especially at the crown area) and it can be discouraging for me. I ask about the oiling bc I’m nervous that the weight of the oil would be too heavy for my hair… but I also want to be nourishing my hair and keep it strong so that breakage doesn’t happen. Any tips and tricks to prevent breakage for my hair type would be great! Thank you for all your knowledge and help!

Hi lovely!! So a couple reasons! 1, i went to bed after drying and wanted to keep the cast in my hair while i sleep to help keep the shape a little stronger overnight, but 2 the gel was already pretty soft hold and i didnt need one to scrunch out the crunch. and then 3 i was staying in; if i was going out (into humidity/col/wind) i would have applied some to protect my strands. But yes i wanted to keep it clean :) i hope that answered your question!! Thank you for watching

Can you give advice on how to style toddler curly hair? I’m not sure if their scalp is the same as an adults scalp? I think my daughter is either 3C or 4a. Her curls are tight and the hair tends to be dry and prone to tangling.

hi Mel, I have greasy curly hair and don’t like products because they make my hair even more greasy. Any products you can suggest that won’t make it greasy? Thanks😀

I have an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. I have been very lucky that the hair on my head has been OK but I don't have much in the way of body hair. I have almost NO hair under my arms. I can get away with shaving like maybe every 5 or 6 months and even then it is just a little lite fuzz. And Girl, you do not need to cover up for us. We all understand. I do have a question, what would you do for someone who wants to go back to natural color after 30+ years w/o the awkward grow out stage.

Any tips for the curly military girlies? My curls have suffered from slicked down buns for years, especially my top layer, and I really want to be able to let me hair heal but idk how 😅

No it shouldn't. It's also up to 3 pumps on long hair. She has short hair and used far too much.

Love this video Mell! But i have a question tho. My the hair on my crown area is another texture, it's more brittle and the curls don't get as bouncy and juicy as the rest of the hair does. Do you have any suggestions to what i can do?

Hi! So the other times during the month that you wash do you use a regular shampoo and only clarify once a month? Also do you do oil and scalp massage before every wash? ty!
