My moonshine speed-run challenge - Week 1 done, Introduction, Fermentation and starting to distil.

The challenge is to go from simple ingredients, ferment it, distill it, and be done in under two hours of actual work and to do it on Facebook live.

Bought it. took a while to get it and I absolutely support and recommend the My Vodka Maker. Of course here in the US I am only distilling water. Then I had a fresh glass of vodka and was surprised at how fresh and clear it tasted.

It seems to be a very impressive product. Honestly one of the things that has me most hesitant about distillation is the whole heating a highly flammable liquid with a propane burner and your product definitely solves that for me. Do you have any suggestions of books etc to get a person started on the necessary materials and ingredients/recipes? Thanks for your time and the tutorial!

I am a little safety-obsessed so safety was my main focus. If you look on the sidebar of the Reddit r/firewater you will find a lot of resources and recipes. I like my recipe but you don't have to make such a lot... you can start with 10 or 20 liters...also check birdwatchers.info/ it is a very good place to start with simple ingredients.

Why do you add more water later on when the ferment is going fine?

What would you do if the waste tube was blocked by a faulty extension tube and the waste was coming out the product tube. The waste was cleared and confirmed air flow but the waste still was coming out the product tube?

Interesting machine - did you use the Mini or Plus versions in the video (just trying to get an idea of sizes)?

Hi, this is one of my early models... it is the size of the Plus but has the performance of the Mini... at the time it was only "myVodkaMaker" no Plus or Mini, I had a great performance breakthrough that gave me a 2.5x performance increase... which was great but my mission was to make a 1 to 2 bottle a day still for as low cost as I could...and I think the mini does that well....but the plus is way more capable now also... I think it is a nice balance of features and choice.

I use Nasco Plumbers Solid Wire Roll 2mm 97 / 3 : 97/3 Solid solder wire alloy content of Tin 97% and copper 3% designed specifically for plumbing applications. Lead free, non toxic soft solder.
