You may never see this, but I recently switched all my critter lights onto a timed power strip and I LOVE it. Everyone's lights come on together, and there is an "always on" side of the power strip I can keep heat tape or thermostats or whatever plugged into on that side of the same strip. Cannot recommend it enough.

Just a suggestion so you dont have to turn the tank lights on and off physically... my boyfriend and I have a uromastyx and a beardie and we use a light timer that you set for when you want the lights to turn off at night and when they should come on in the morning and it’s amazing. This way you don’t need to go to every single light in the morning and night to turn them on and off. Just a good suggestion! I’m sure you don’t mind turning the lights on and off but the timer is just an easier way!

Hey I guess you probably didn‘t know that pellets for rabbits swell in the stomach and cause digestive problems (you can see the effect when putting some of the pellets in water and waiting for a couple of minutes). It‘s better to feed seeds to the rabbits, they don‘t swell up and contain essential nutrients. 🙂
@EmmaLynneSampson
@EmmaLynneSampson 5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure where you got this from, but I would recommend looking into it further. Rabbits absolutely cannot have seeds. Under no circumstances. Rabbits digestive systems are not able to digest seeds at all, so they do not break down. Since they can’t break down this can cause them to get stuck in their digestive track resulting GI stasis, or in a blockage, obstruction and even death. Rabbits should never, ever be given seeds and it’s extremely dangerous to their health. A quality rabbit pellet is perfectly safe for rabbits to eat. I’m really not sure where you got this information from, but it’s sadly very incorrect and I would strongly recommend doing further research on the topic.

Emma, can I ask a question regarding general pet care to you and your viewers ? Considering some owners of pets especially shut ins who have dogs and cats might need to be hospitalized for up to a month and the houses and apartments of confirmed C19 victims would be considered more or less viral loaded . IS it unwise to ask a neighbor to care for the pet inside the home, like dog or cat sitting. Even the act of taking their dog for a walk while someone quarantines at home might be risky in that the collar , leash , and fur of the dog would be viral loaded. so would it then be proper to move the pet out of the home to a shelter? but we don't have that type of shelter space in the US. So foster care? The animal would first need to be decontaminated prior to fostering. I'm a bit concerned about senior apartment towers that allow pets , how do you walk a virus laden dog through an apartment hallway and onto an elevator without contaminating the whole building via fur shedding.? thanks for letting me butt in. I think we need to get a nationwide pet shelter system set up at county fair grounds or vet offices to at least decontaminate these animals for C19 hospitalized patient care.. In your case with a variety of caged animals, im guessing someone would have to come into your home and feed them on site in PPE for up till 9 days until the virus dies of its own accord on home surfaces. Then it wouldn't be too much of an issue with the virus. It's amazing the time and love you pour into your pets.

Will you do an updated rabbit video? Thought you were going to put the three rabbits together after they got to know each other
@EmmaLynneSampson
@EmmaLynneSampson 5 жыл бұрын
Emma-Lee Freistadt That was the plan, although it turned out that sunny cannot be bonded to other rabbits. For months I worked with her multiple times daily to try and bond them, with no success. I eventually started working with my vets, rabbit rescues and professionals to try and bond her with other rabbits as I couldn’t do it on my own. After a while of no success at all, we all came to the conclusion that sunny could not be bonded to other rabbits, and would be happier as a single bunny. Sunny was a rescue bunny with an unknown past, but it’s likely that she had a bad experience with other rabbits in her past as she is completely terrified of them. No matter how much we worked with her, she would just remain petrified of all other rabbits. Sunny is very loving and affectionate towards people, so she seems to be much happier just having human interaction rather than interaction with other rabbits

Did you know how our dogs are highly social animals and how much love and attention do they need specifically during the social distancing due to the COVID-19? Dogs one of the most popular support animal choices precisely because they are gregarious, outgoing and social. An emotional support animal needs attention and affection just as much as it needs food and water. Did you know to withhold attention and affection from a social animal such as a dog is unfair, unkind and a gross abandonment of your duties? You are in a position of power because that small, vulnerable animal depends on you. But with great power comes great responsibility. You are responsible for keeping the animal safe, healthy and well-fed and making sure it is happy and feels loved. it’s most appropriate to share the love when your animal who is in a calm and well-behaved state. Just like with a child, when your animal is misbehaving, it is important to let it know that you are unhappy with how it is acting. When your emotional dog support chews your slippers, it might be a good idea to withhold affection. When your animal is anxious, frightened, aggressive, possessive, dominant, whining, begging, making too much noise or otherwise breaking a rule, it is usually best to be aloof, strict and serious. Where Can I get a good light for a leopard gecko? I will have a heat mat under the tank but idk where to get a good light for during the day. Also do they need any type of light during night time?
@EmmaLynneSampson
@EmmaLynneSampson 5 жыл бұрын
Macey Harris you don’t need a light but you can try one of you like! Some leopard geckos enjoy it, and others don’t. So if you do decide to use a light, be sure to monitor your geckos behaviour and take note of any changes. For example, I decided to try out a UVB bulb with both my leopard geckos. I noticed that sushi was doing amazing with the light! He was more active, he’s growing super fast and overall I just noticed a lot of positive changes with him. But then on the other hand, I noticed that pepper didn’t seem to enjoy it. She was hiding more, squinting her eyes and having trouble catching her food so I decided to take the light off of her. So overall, no they don’t need a light! But if you want to try one out, go for it! Just be sure to monitor your gecko to see how they react. Also note that certain leopard gecko morphs are light sensitive such as albinos, so I do not recommend using lights at all for these morphs

I have a question. I thought lights weren’t good for leopard geckos? Also my heat Mat for my leopard gecko doesn’t give off enough would a CHE or a light heater thing be better?
@EmmaLynneSampson
@EmmaLynneSampson 5 жыл бұрын
Sushi Kitten I find it really depends on the gecko! Some of them tend to be more sensitive to light than others, and some don’t mind it at all! When I first started using UVB with my geckos, I made sure to monitor them closely to see how they reacted to it. Both of my geckos didn’t mind the light at all and even seemed to enjoy it some! If you have a light sensitive gecko, I wouldn’t recommend using lights on them. And any time you make any change it’s good to monitor the animal to see how they react to the change. As for heating your gecko, I would recommend a CHE rather than a heat lamp! This way you can keep it on 24/7 and you can connect it to a thermostat to better control the temps

Hey Emma where do you buy the 50lb box of Timothy hay? I have two rabbits and two Guinea Pigs and that would save me sooo much money. I haven’t seen a 50lb in any of the pet stores near my house

ray garcia I get my hay from a local feed store! I got a bale of hale for $10 and it was a surprisingly high quality and my rabbits love it!!! I know I’m not Emma, but I hope this helped.
