I stumbled across your video when I am exactly looking for some strength and encouragement to accept myself. I have vitiligo for all most 7 years and we have a pretty similar story of feeling embarrassed to open up and talk about it openly. I also have been covering up with concealers on my hands and have been living a superficial life. It’s great to hear you have a supportive partner and doesn’t care about your skin, I think my partner left because of my skin. I still don’t understand why he ended our relationship quietly and I didn’t bother to question him. I am also looking forward to opening myself as it really is consuming my life. I have gained some courage and inspiration from you and will keep following you, wish you a meaningful and fulfilling life ahead. I also cried along with you in your video cz we are on the same page and I know exactly how that feels.

Ohhhh, I am so sorry you had to go through that. Please know that the right person will never ever mind these unique spots on your body. It is so beautiful and harmless and I am grateful to have it over all the other health conditions there are. I hope you start to love your body as it is, as love is all that really helped me to stop the vitiligo from spreading further. Sending you a big big hug and I hope you are in a much more positive place and befriended this unique condition. ☺️❤️

I went through the same thing, it's been 3 years when it started coming, I was even hiding from my family of my friends from my environment, I thought that I will have 0 opportunity for my future as cabin crew, i applied once to emirates i passed all the stages but when i got to the medicals, i was refused, i am still broken and i still feel sick, and sometimes i'm ashamed of me, and that life will no longer offer me a chance, but , I prefer that to another dangerous disease.... anywayI find you very very beautiful with or without vitiligos you are exceptional , vitiligo does not change anything in you, I always see you very beautiful and very unique, I congratulate you for the courage that you have had all these last years especially with the work of cabin crew and the dubai lifestyle ... stay as you are because you are extremely beautiful and life hides more beautiful things for the future.

I have also started with vitiligo! Over this lockdown period I am noticing it more as I am trying to build up my confidence to wear no make up. It runs in my family and my mum has it on her hands, face, thighs and under her arms! My uncle has it and my grandpa had it too. My great grandma had such an unusual case of vitiligo that she lost almost all her skin pigment and she even lost the pigment in her hair, eyelashes and eyebrows! Her her was such a beautiful pure white colour! It makes me nervous that patches seem to be slowly appearing on me but it's nice to hear that other people have it too as it makes me feel like I'm not so strange ❤️ Don't let the vitiligo hold you back from anything! You're beautiful!

Hey,I just stumbled across your video. I’ve had vitiligo for bout 11 years now (im 30). I remember it was draining in the beginning mentally ,even tho I am an optimistic person it pushed me down. I felt like no one will like the way I looked I almost hated myself.it took some years to get used to it and not to care about it (you do care but not as much as you used to),I never had a problem with relationships or people staring in a bad way. I’ve always had people complimenting me the way I look..and that’s a great feeling. The only one who was harsh on me was myself. A lot of times we are harsh on ourselves and it’s not even fair in our case..it’s not our fault we got this skin disorder and we aren’t “unique” we are just like everyone else. Love yourself as much as you can.

Hi Brigita, I don't usually comment on KZbin vlogs but this one I absolutely have to, apologies in advance for the long post. I've watched a couple of your videos previously and this one just came up randomly and I'm so glad it did. I am Emirates cabin crew for the last 6 and a half years, although on maternity leave for the last year. I also have vitiligo, mine is in slightly different places to yours and was probably easier to hide in the uniform. I have it on my feet, hips, in-between my thighs, my arm pits and also other places more prominent if I go in the sun, all of which are symmetrical on either side. I started with vitiligo when I was 12 years old after my dad passed away, Doctors weren't sure but they believed it developed from emotional stress and the shock from losing my dad. I honestly can't tell you how this video has made me feel so much better about myself, I thought I was the only one in Emirates with it, little do you know there is someone else going through the same thing, maybe there's even more crew also struggling with it, who knows? Sometimes you feel like you're the only one in the world that has it. For years I've HATED myself, I've missed out on so many events with my friends simply because I didn't want them to see my skin in a bikini, I'd make excuse after excuse. I'm sure most of my friends still don't know I have it or if they do they never mentioned it. I get so jealous when I see people with beautiful even tans knowing that could be me but it never will be. I've used fake tan for years to try and hide it. I've seen the nicest sandals in shops but I wouldn't buy them because it would show the vitiligo on my feet, it has been a real struggle for me. I actually worked in Egypt for 7 months when I was 21 working outside in the sun all day and I went the brownest I've ever been but of course that meant my vitiligo becoming more prominent and I also had to make sure it was protected every day as it's more sensitive to the sun. I saw people staring at it on my feet but no one ever actually asked about it. I honestly thought I'd never meet someone because they'd think it's ugly but I met my husband 4 years ago, I used to try and hide my skin from him in the beginning but little did I know he'd already seen it. He's the first person I'd properly opened up to about it, he told me it's beautiful and that's what makes me who I am, he still tells me that today. I still struggle to accept it and I have my little boy now, I also had the same thoughts as you about passing it on to my kids and the guilt if I did, but I've always wanted children and if I worried too much about this I'd never have kids. No one in my family has it except me so I think it isn't genetic for me. I did try steroid creams which didn't work but who knows one day maybe they'll find a cure. Like I said I was 12 years old when it developed, when I was younger it never bothered me, I'm 28 now and I don't remember the non vitiligo me anymore, it's become part of me and I hope one day I will just be able to accept it. You're so strong opening up about it on here and I really admire you for that. It's really comforting to know that I'm not the only one and I'm sure there's so many others out there struggling who have also stayed silent and are trying to hide it worrying what people will think. Just reading the comments here makes me realise how understanding people are if you just tell them, something I am going to try and work on. You're beautiful inside and out! Thank you so much for posting!

I can't begin to tell you how much your comment means to me. I truly felt the same way like you - that I was the only one at EK with it and that it is not normal. I felt so bad for hiding something that is just a part of my body and the more conscious I was, the more it start to spread over time. I truly felt hopeless but I think now after a couple of years I feel like I've come to terms that this is how my body will look or maybe it will expan more (which of course I hope it does not). How did you cover vitiligo on your feet? Or was it not visible in tights? I am really sorry you went through such a difficult experience as a kid, I think in both of our cases we got it from stress which is crazy to know how powerful our thoughts are. I am so happy you are in a loving relationship with a healthy baby, at the end that is all that really matters in life. Thank you for sharing your experience, I can't stress enough how much it means to me that you shared this with me. ❤️

imbrigita I’m just so glad I found your video, it was like I was meant to see it 😊. I gradually got new patches and tbh I don’t even remember my skin changing but it seemed to stop eventually, and hopefully won’t spread anymore fingers crossed! I had quite good tights for work that covered it completely so it was fine, the less tanned I am, the easier it is to cover it with fake tan. I was offered the “makeup” to cover it but I’m always different colours with fake tans haha so didn’t bother. So glad I could share my experience with you as I know you wanted to hear other people’s experiences and the fact you were crew before as well makes it that little bit more personal with being me crew too. Exactly, as long as I’m healthy and my baby is too then I should be happy 😊 I hope life brings you everything you want and more, you’re doing fabulous and you deserve it 🤍

I admire your strength, I wish I had it. We know that we should love our bodies as they are but it honestly is one of the hardest life achievements. Also, as you mentioned, one thing is to be self conscious about something and the other, even worse, is that we actually feel guilty about feeling self conscious.

Hi Kaya! Exactly, I think we all struggled with body image in life at one point or another but learning to love and accept yourself is a process and it takes time. But it's ok, even the most confident people go through periods where they feel insecure. It only goes to show we are all human. ❤️

Hey I stumbled upon your vedio on world vitiligo day....and I can so so well relate to what you are talking as I was diagnosed with vitiligo as a kid...and had to deal with all that u have gone through bully at school, trying to hide from curious friends and strangers.... rejection from partner...But I guess it has made me strong and I would say we are all blessed with vitiligo

Briii of course you must love yourself the way you are and don't be ashamed because the most important thing is being in good health. This is only a disorder, don't ever feel insecure about it.And also do not feel guilty about not being honest. It is ok.. 😊It must be irrelevant for you, I also have a chronic disease that could affect my life more in some years but I decided to accept it and have self care until there. You never know maybe they fill find a cure next years. You are amazing Bri, wish you the best. 😘🤗

Thank you for sharing your secret with us. You’re so brave and beautiful. I grew up with very sensitive skin and got lots of scars left on my legs, my back, and even on my face. I also had a long period of difficult times that I felt very self-conscious, spent a lot of money on the pigmentation and scars that left and declined to date any guys. Anyway I am over the period right now, not 100%, but most of the time. I also have a fiancé who loves me dearly and am flying as a cabin crew too. I hope you feel better, and this world has become better because of strong people like you 💪🏻💪🏻

Hi Uzair, there are several things you can try (light teraphy, topical creams etc), however most of the time they don't work. I tried the creams but no effect. As mentioned it's not life threatening and just purely cosmetic, so it's not the end of the world.

I have had vitiligo for almost 2 years. I only have spots on my face. I'll tell you what happened to me last summer: I made a friend. She asked me what's on my face? I said: Oh nothing. It's just ... from the light. And another friend whose mother has vitiligo said to her: It's a vitiligo disease. At that moment I felt ... weird and too different. If someone tells me I'm ugly, I'll tell them that: I'm not ugly, I'm special. Only 1% of the world's population has my "Dalmatian" spots. this video made me fell beutyful 💕 💕 💕 by the way: you are very beutyful
