I love frying summer vegetables together......you’ve made me so hungry 😋. My husband and I just survive coronavirus and I was in the hospital for seven days, thank God he didn’t have to be in the hospital but we’re both completely CDC cleared and we’re still trying to get over the weakness and tiredness. But other then that we’re doing really really really good,God’s been good to us🙏.......but you’ve made me so hungry. I lost all my appetite for about two weeks to eat anything,so this to me looks really good. The sad part about use getting the virus is I haven’t left my home since January......my husband caught from his secretary and brought it home to me. I now feel how can I be any safer, because we were washing everything down and keeping our hands washed too. Thank God we serve a mighty god and he brought us both through. God bless you and your sweet family, thank you for sharing your wonderful recipe 😋❤️😋.........🙏💞😊

Bless your ❤️,. so glad you are out of the hospital. I am waiting to go get my husband right now he has had 2 heart attacks and I finally took him to the ER on Thursday after him refusing for 10 days to go because of the Carona Virus. They did a Cath on Friday and found his problem and placed a stint and now his heart is only working at 25%. I am really scared but he has a Heart Vest that they are sending him home in to monitor his heart and shock him if it quits. They say they may have to place a pace maker in him but want him wearing the Vest for 90 days. Please pray for him and me as I am not ready to let him go .... we have been married for 43 years but have known each other for 49. since I was 13 and him 15...Praise the Lord we were made for each other.... I will keep you in my prayers along with us all.... PS=He was Negative for the Covid19 but actually I think it caused him to be so sick.

Oh my goodness Ms Lori! This is the closest to the way my Grandma made fried squash that I've ever seen. She was born in 1925, and grew up on a homestead in Cove Arkansas close to the Oklahoma border. Her Mama taught her how to make fried squash. Her and Grandpa moved out to Oregon in the 1950s. She would slice yellow squash and/or zucchini into 1/4 inch rounds, filling the biggest bowl we had. We sprinkled salted on the squash so it would pull some of the water out. Then we added flour and tossed the squash until most of the squash was coated. We poured the squash into a hot skillet with 1/4 to 1/2 a inch of oil, and cover with a lid. You leave the lid on till the squash is half cooked. Be careful when stirring, and only stir enough to keep from burning. When they are half cooked, take the lid off so the squash can get brown and crunchy. Everyone in the family loved 😍 fried squash. I tried to learn as much as I could from Grandma, but it's nice to see other southern people cooking these old recipes because I know how to cook a lot of these foods, but I don't know the history of them. Thanks Ms Lori. I love listening to you and Mr Brown and your stories. It reminds me of sitting around and listening to Grandma and Grandpa. Grandpa was the STORYTELLER. He even told stories his dad told him about living in Kansas in the late 1800s and watching covered wagons heading west, and how he would play with wild Indians...not blanket Indians (reservation Indians). My Grandpa as a kid rode the trains during the 1930s with hobos. He had a very colorful life. Sorry, I can get carried away talking about Grandma and Grandpa. I adored them. Have a wonderful day and God bless you both.

Btw, your recipe for peanut butter cookies is now my go-to!! They’re excellent! Like you, I love to cook. I’m Italian and my husband is from Spain (where we used to live)-I learned how to cook a LOT while I was there. But American Southern food is my favorite. I live in Norman Ar & my mother & my grandmothers made this. I now have the pleasure of compiling this dish but I use hot peppers instead of green pepper & add a little cabbage at times. All depends on whats producing at the time. When I was very young we lived in California & once a year at hay season we traveled to Arkansas to my paternal grandparents & my grandmother would fix us her canned soup, which we labeled "Arkansas Soup" & boy oh boy did we love it.

You make everything look so simple to make :) we make a similar but simpler dish with zucchini, onions, jalapeños, corn, seasonings of your choice, then topped with shredded cheese. Really simple but delish. What a blessing to still have your mom-in-law! I was 19 when my mom passed and in my 30’s when my mom-in-law passed so it’s a blessing when one still has the matriarch in the family :) Blessings to the Brown Family. TY for sharing! Happy 4th. We love fresh veggies. I buy either from the Farmers weekly boxes or our local Farmers Stand out in the country and load up on veggies, bring them home and freeze them. THIS right here that you made ... we’ll be having it soon! I’m going over to my daughters later and if I’d’a seen this vid earlier I’d be taking it over there!!!! ❤️❤️

Well, I tried this recipe tonight, and let me tell you, if I could have eaten the whole pan, I would have!!. It took me right back home. Thank you for giving this old southern girl a few minutes of feeling that feeling of sitting at my daddys table again. I could almost hear his soft gentle laugh if I closed my eyes. I’m a recent widow and cooking just for me. I came across this video about a month ago and I love it. I made a big pot of it my way. Like you said, make it your own! It took me about 3 days to finish it. I made it again the next week and I just finished making it a third time. This time my eyes were bigger than my pot, so I had to throw part of it in another pot. I looked and looked for corn meal mix at my local grocery stores and couldn’t find it so I picked up some corn meal. I looked online and found a recipe for corn meal mix and made up a couple cups of it and now I have it on hand. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your delicious recipes with us.

Miss Lori, I made this vegetable skillet for supper tonight, and I LOVED it!I know you used as a side dish, but it was my entree'. Vegetables are my very favorite!!! Thanks for sharing your recipe with us this afternoon! My mother-in-law was also THE BEST Southern country cook ever. It was a gift with her. I am very grateful she taught me how to cook!!

Oh my goodness this stuff should be called Garden Addiction. It is sooooo good. I watched this the other day and went straight to the garden and gathered everything to do this with. Mom and I had it for dinner, and I had the rest the next day.

Whippoorwill Holler, did Evan text you and explain? It has been a mess. I have thought of you every day. Been in TX and your ears should have been burning off. I talked about you and Gracie to my sisser constantly. I Love you sooo much and have missed you too. Evan and KATIE will get my phone figured out. Are you OKAY? If I could blink my eyes and be in Arkansas I would. You are my HeartSister for Life!!! ❤️🦋🌈☀️ 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️

I love this recipe. I love your kitchen. I love your stove. My garden can get away from me come harvest, and this really helps. I made the lunch lady PB bars, and I don’t think I’ve seen my husband happier. Y’all are wonderful people. I just take a deep breath when I have a chance to watch. Thank you.

Thank you for saying Larapin! My mother passed in 2012 and I miss her words like that, my sister passed in surgery on her knee and broken thigh this past wed after a fall at home in Mesa, AZ. Her arm was operated on on Tues and we lost her on Wed. Your video has been a comfort. Will make okay soon!💕🌷

Brought back fond memories. I'm live in Indiana, but a dear older friend of mine was from Kentucky and she taught mine to make a similar recipe. She called it garden goulash and she used what ever she had in the garden. If she had bacon or ham she would use it along with veggies and cornmeal . It is one of my favorite dishes in the summer. Delicious
