I did basically the same thing with my Beretta 950b "Minx" in .22 short. Converted to .25 with a new barrel, mag, and slide (with all internals, such as firing pin). I also threaded my shorter .22short barrel for suppressors.

Did you have to do any machining or it was simply plug and play?
@dark2023-1lovesoni Жыл бұрын
@@STEINBVG Plug and play in my case. I just had to press out the barrel pin. It helps that Beretta manufactured the 950b in both .22 short and .25acp. Though, the barrel threading DID require machining and attaching a barrel extension.

Thanks. So the barrel is fixed by a pin? DO you have to punch it out every time you wish to change calibers? Or you just stay with 25? Because with the Browing barrel locking design, once fit- it,s a toolless conversion back and forth. By the way - i also extended the barrel for threads. There,s a video
@dark2023-1lovesoni Жыл бұрын
@@STEINBVG Yes, I have to punch the pin out each time (along with removing the trigger guard because it's also a spring that tilts the barrel). I've gone back and forth a few times now, but I usually prefer to keep the threaded .22short barrel on it most of the time.

@1lovesoni Ok. I see. I guess not as convenient as my Colt 1911 or Glock drop in aftermarket conversions. And now my little Astra. But i doubt i will shoot much 25 acp - damn expensive. Just wanted to know i could do it. Thanks for the info. I would like to have this Beretta for a collection. Always loved it

The Beretta 950 is similar. With a switch of slide barrel and magazine I switch between 22 short and 25acp. With an extra 22 short barrel reamed to accept 22 lr and another magazine enlarged it cycles that too! Nice job sir! Excellent video!

I bought a similar sized gun called "the looking glass" when I was a kid in the early 60's. Mine even had a grip safety. It was a rusty pile of junk with no barrel and some of the locking lugs broke in the frame. It was the first gun I stripped and reblued. We had no Internet to find spare parts so I could only do so much back then. Cute little guns those Astra's.

Yes. Now I am able to find some odd parts for old projects. Love to return them to working order as much as build new things. Also learn more and more ideas for future reference.

It’s sad u would even bring up that shit gun in the presence of astra cub

I tried doing this but got crazy with the dremel and i have all kinds of feeding issues. I don't even know how but my .22 short mag doesn't even lock in anymore. I might just buy another one in .25acp. I think .25 to .22 is easier than .22 to .25

Sorry to hear it. Not sure where you went wrong. Hope you didn,t do irreversible damage and it,s fixable.

Can it fire .22lr?
@STEINBVG3 ай бұрын
No. The mag well fits 25 and 22 short mags, but the 22 lr round and mag is 1/8” longer and even the most slim mag does not fit. Impossible.

@@STEINBVGmate can i ask did you use same magaine for .22 and .25 ???
@STEINBVG7 ай бұрын
No. 25 mag is different. Typical conversion is a change of slide/barrel and mag in any gun.
@hecker21047 ай бұрын
@@STEINBVG so mate you changed magazine or you mod .22lr magazine for .25 ???
@STEINBVG7 ай бұрын
Yes, when you switch between the calibers, you use different mags. 22 short mag can,t be modified to fit 25
