My guess, seeings as they have a purebred, genetically tested golden in their line, is that there was an accidental breeding, and the pups were given away, and then further bred at random.

One of my childhood dogs was an accidental breeding pup, she came from breeders who raised show dog dachshunds and one of their girls got with a Chihuahua and that is how we got our goofy sweet Lola

it's a distant connection, by results i'd hazard one parent was from an intentional spaniel goldie mix but with the rest of the numbers i'd also hazard a multi generational stray that had a small bit of escape artist wolf cross heritage (i get that they're pretty, but they are too smart and willful to make a good pet)

Sounds like they all have one grandparent who is a golden retriever. Regardless of the breed percentages, they are 100% adorable!!

@@katie5575 just google it, you will find quiet a lot :) goldies have some health problems, like hip displasia (like a lot of german shepherd) and you sometimes can see it in their head form (brachycephalic head).

Pups from one litter can have different fathers so I'd guess mom was most likely a Goldie mix. But they're 100% cuties.

You can REALLY SEE the bully in the one little fella. He has the walk. They all have golden faces though. I can see a bit of cocker/poodle in them too. I predict friendly, outgoing, intelligent, busy babies!

It's so interesting - I've seen a few of these doggy DNA reveals before and there's always at least 10% chihuahua in the mixed breed dogs. Those little guys get around! lol

i didn’t know siblings could have such variations in how much of certain breeds are represented! now i’m SO curious about the genetic makeup of their littermates; i saw pictures of them and some look SO DIFFERENT from these guys! i definitely thought golden for adam but i expected way more lab for gary. i thought cocker for josie and wendy. did not expect chihuahua at all haha. of their other littermates, one favors a pitbull a lot and another i can definitely see chowchow or newfie. this is so cool!

Littermates can also have different fathers, I don't know if that's the case for these cuties but that's another reason why genetics can be so varied in a "mystery litter"

My ex has a dog from a border collie / boxer litter. His dog looks exactly like a very tall border collie… her littermate looks like a brindle pit Bull. It’s so funny.

I’m a little surprised to hear that they have little to no lab in them based on their color and chest pattern, I thought they would be a golden lab mix, but just shows you can’t judge on looks alone. Such cute and loving pups, hope they find wonderful homes.

My gramma's dog was a Pomeranian-Chow Chow mix! Her neighbour's Australian Shepherd jumped their fence and I fostered their resulting litter - and had my first foster fail, Poe. No one could ever guess that our 40-pound boy was 1/4 Pomeranian!

I saw the cocker spaniel a mile away, those longer than golden ears that have the long curly fur on his ears. The round face with big eyes are also very cocker. I saw those pups and screamed yup they got golden retriever and cocker spaniel in them. Which I do have a soft spot for Cocker Spaniel mixes. Years ago my family adopted a Cocker Spaniel Pomeranian 50 50 mix, and she grew up with me, I lost her a few years ago, but she will always have a special spot in my heart.

honestly it sounds a lot like someone was trying to backyard breed "Mini Goldens" Golden retriever, Cocker spaniel, chihuahua, poodle are all the mixes you find in "mini Goldens"

I work at a sanctuary and we had the pup of a Salou’s wolf mother and the Jack Russel from next door. Such a funny looking dog. Imagine a chubby corgi body with a German Shepard’s face tail and years. He’s so shy it’s adorable

Called it! I could just tell from looking at her that they had some Lab and Spaniel in that mix! Especially little Josie! I used to have a lab/springer spaniel mix, and I recognized that coat feathering!

I don’t know if this is breed or mix breed dependant, I have also heard that a puppy mom doesn’t release all their eggs as once, they can be released over a few days. So the runt of the litter is small because it can be a couple days younger than their largest littermate. Also depending on who puppy mom was running with, littermates can also have different dads. I love how you explained how different gene expression can show up in a little even if there was only a single sire for the whole litter ❣️

I used Wisdom Panel for my sweet dog several years ago. We were always told that she was chow/shepherd mix and when I got the results her highest 2 were Chow and Akita. The German Shepherd dog was only 3%. Chow was 70% which I was not surprised by as she seemed to possess a lot of the traits they possess, such as the black tongue, look of the lion, favored 1 person, very much a guard dog etc. The Akita was 10% tho I would have never guessed that breed at all and all the rest of the breeds were between 1-3%. Sadly my girl passed in Mar 2022 from osteosarcoma at the age of 12. After watching your video I went back to her Wisdom Panel page and found 40 relatives, 2 that are closely related ones. That was very cool!

It's very interesting to see which breeds express themselves more prominently than others; other people I know who have dogs labeled as "shepherd mixes" also only had like 3% GSD in them 😅

I’m amazed by how often chihuahua keeps popping up in dna profiles. My spouse’s family has a dog that looks like a very skinny german shepherd. Part chihuahua in her too.

So cute! I’m a retired critical care nurse and am setting up a full infant animal care unit, with incubator, oxygen, etc. Where did you go to learn tube feeding? I’m thinking of checking with a vet hospital. And I thought Golden & Cocker. They are so adorable. I have had a lot of pit bulls and didn’t see that in Gary. But Golden in all and Cocker in various amounts.

Adam looks so much like my puppy Maisie! She’s half golden retriever, half labradoodle. They have the same colouring and coat and ears and everything. Maisie is 12 weeks old now so looks a bit different but looked just like Adam at 8 weeks.
