I 3rd that it's so sad but she has obviously done everything humanly possible but it's sad that it just wasn't enough to save theo but Joshua has a fighting chance now!!!and that's saying allot bc without careing human intervention they would be all parishes in that park but it's one of those things that give you faith in humanity!!!! My guess is she didn't. She believed it was. How can an omnivorous mammal be intolerant to animal protein? The piglet was intolerant to some nasty chemical thing on the formula, and when she took it from the animal, he started to thrive.

And just like a human can be intolerant to lactose a animal can be intolerant to certain proteins. Its a simple genetic defect that can cause all sorts of different symptoms, for example seizures.

Ever try feeding baby rabbits cow's milk? The same thing happens. It's likely that's the reason Theodore died, too. Baby mammals require very specific nutrition, the fact that humans can even safely consume cow's milk is basically an anomaly in the animal kingdom. Most animals REQUIRE their mother's milk, or something nearly identical. And it's not hard to fathom that different pig breeds could have different nutritional requirements.

Watching a beloved animal go through seizures is terrifying. One of our cats has epilepsy. He is medicated and seizure-free for 9 years now, but before we figured out what was wrong it was just scary. So glad you found out what was going on with poor Joshie. @Artoria Pendragon None of that is true in this day and age. I'm /not/ a vegan, for the record. But no, mammals are incredibly unefficient both in farming and in our eating them. The only meat based diet that is actually healthy, natural for the human digestive system, and efficient is pesketarianism, and even then we're overfishing too much so it's a problem. Not sure what you mean by meat vs animal protein being that they're the same thing, but if you misspoke and meant plant protein, that's also untrue. You don't need to eat any processed food to be pesketarian or vegetarian at the very least, nor do you need any supplements. Our great, great ancestors survived on fruits, wild veggies, nuts, legumes, fish, and the occasional bird. It's why people are bad at handling dairy overall. We aren't developed for it. Our natural diet (the most efficient one) is pesketarian. People needing supplements and having unefficient vegan diets aren't a representation of actual meatless diets. They're a representation of what happens when someone with unhealthy eating habits and body image issues takes on veganism, the same way those paleo-diet morons are representations of what happens when meat eating people go batshit over weird diet stuff. Most vegetarians eat less processed food than meat eaters, are generally very healthy, and snack and enjoy meals just as much as you do. Same goes to vegans, probably doubly. Only unefficient diets are unhealthy ones. Cutting meat out isn't a problem if you do it right, the same way eating meat isn't a health problem if you do /that/ right.

Just to put it out there: bottle feeding is not recommended for piglets especially if you’re not experienced in hand rearing. The letdown process of momma pig is near impossible to replicate and they have a high occurrence of aspiration pneumonia. Eye dropper, syringe are other safer alternatives but best is pan feeding. Josh looks to be a kunekune mix! They’re awesome! To the rescuer: Thank you for all that you did and for properly educating about size!

Green Giant she was using a pig specific formula to start with. It was causing him to have seizures that’s why they began using the smoothies

My new kitten (I worked with her from feral to domestic!) loved this video. She climbed out of my arms to the desk, putting her nose to the screen to examine Joshua. It was great seeing her so excited over another baby animal.
