We got our elderly, arthritic cat a lion cut this summer because he was matting and struggling to groom, and he has so much more energy now! It makes him more of a mischief-maker but he's so much happier now.

My Grandparents have a long haired cat named Glenn. He’s prone to matting because he hates getting brushed and also gets pretty hot in the summer. While I doubt Glenn loves the grooming process, whenever he gets shaved he’s like a different cat afterwards. It’s almost as if you can see the weight lift off of his shoulders!

FERGUSON!!! What an awesome cat he is to help ChouChou with his grooming! My larger, more dominant cat started grooming my BooBoo (profile pic) & now BooBoo just let's her groom her all the time! She doesn't even bother with grooming because she know Pandora will do it all! Poor Pandora gets special hair ball control treats because of the extra work! ❤🐈‍⬛

My cat had a mouth problem and couldn't groom herself which resulted in severe matting close to her skin. I was so afraid of taking her to a groomer because her last experience wasn't that great. But luckily it went very well! And paired with a needed surgery, it did wonders! She is turning 11 in two days and was very sleepy and unmotivated for a long time. Now she is running and playing again ♥♥ Seeing Chouchou getting a haircut and getting so much better is bringing me joy. Thank you for sharing his journey ♥♥

Hannah is so right about grooming being for just certain cats with special needs. A friend had a Persian with long fur & a flat face who had a terrible time keeping herself clean. My friend figured out to get her groomed & the cat was soooo much happier. (Curses on those breeders, who did this to them!) I have a long haired black cat who’s fur is like Velcro! She gets leaves, sticks & other debris stuck to her fur. She grows a huge lion’s ruff every winter. I trim the fur under her chin, because it is always in her nose. She’s still fairly young, and with some brushing help, does a good job grooming, but I figure when she starts getting mats, she may need help with a yearly fur-cut. Thank you for explaining how important it is to find a professional! 🐈‍⬛

He is so adorable. My late persian Simba used to strut after each groom. In about 6 weeks, Chouchou's fur will be a the "teddy bear" length. You're going to love it.

I used to have a gigantic ragamuffin girl. I adopted her late in life and she was covered in hair knots. Bad previous owners. She'd been removed from their home. I got her shaved because there were too many to safely cut. She loved the grooming so much that I did it for her every summer. She loved to sleep on the cool floor tiles and would alternate tiles once she'd warmed them up.

Shaving down is also good for cats with IBS as hairballs can trigger flare ups. My foster cat is medium haired and I can not brush enough to keep up during shedding seasons. So the rescue arranges for her grooming/ lion cut. I was going to try to do this myself and now I will let the professionals do this at her veterinarian clinic.

I used to take my late cat Leon, who was a forest cat mix, to the vet every summer to shave his fur short, especially around the butt. He was an indoor cat, and my appartment is very hot during the summer. But they needed to sedate him to get the job done. Chou Chou is a beautiful cat, and I hope that they can fix his cleft palate soon. It is so cute when Ferguson is grooming him.....! 🐾💖

Oh my, ChouChou has grown so much! And this new do is A D O R A B L E. He's like a "poodle cat" with those puffs on his legs and tail and that cute puff surrounding his face. He looks like he's so soft. Through the bathing and the haircut, ChouChou was so calm. What a darling little guy. I can hardly wait until he gets his palate fixed.

Chouchou is so adorable!! My very old himalayan Daisy gets groomed every summer because she does not groom herself anymore! She loves it because we can now access her "super secret tickle spot" behind her ears! It's always funny to see her tiny frame after removal, but you can tell that she is much happier this way!

The fact that he lets her wash his face is a testament to his socialization. Many cats hit the ceiling if you put soap and water on their whiskers.

Because of his cleft palate and flat face, he has eye and nasal discharge and gets his face cleaned throughout the day. I suspect this was actually the most normal part of the process for him.

@@jbbya6040 often groomers don't wash the face of animals with open Cleft palates to prevent accidental aspiration. I'm honestly kind of surprised she even attempted it I assume it's probably Because he has the constant discharge and because Hannah was there supervising.
