Watched this and the how to grow your nails video like 3-5 times. Now I’m back to say IT WORKS!!! My hand just slipped pulling out a chair-a nail breaking event for me-and when I looked to see the damage the nail polish had chipped but my nail was completely intact!!! I can’t thank you enough! I couldn’t figure out for the life of me how to keep my nails from breaking any time I got some length. This is the solution!!!

Lauren S ugh same! They shouldn't do that when you get your nails done! Your cuticles are there to protect from germs getting in and every time they cut mine it makes all my skin below it peel

babe, the cuticles are the dry dead skin on the nail (the white hard stuff), the eponychium is the skin that shouldnt be cut, the loose looking white skin type of thing (idk what that is) is cut by nail techs but as far as i know it grows out thicker and harder AND not done properly would lead to infections since it is a living so it's safe to remove the cuticles :P as long as u dont go hard as fuck on them.

2019 and I need a new one of these videos please, I am doing modeling for a clothing store on the side and would like to make my nails look nice but also would enjoy a updated video since this one is so old now. I use to clean houses and my dad was a lumber jack and I helped him a lot so my hands are pretty bad, but I've been told I have really strong nails and my manager for the modeling says I defiantly could make them look very nice. I’m a massage therapist and I work with oil and cream on my hands a lot, but I’m also always washing them, and all I can use at work is dish soap. I’m not going to try to “mansplain” cuticle and hand care to you, and I also live in North Carolina so I don’t have my weather working against me as much as you do, but what I use is cetaphil hand cream and that does a GREAT job with my hands and cuticles, and it’s really cheap, too. It’s great relief for itchy hands too from dryness or light eczema. But here and there, and often during winter when it’s especially dry weather, I use C.O. Bigelow Rose salve on my cuticles, knuckles, elbows...it’s made for the dryest areas of your body and it really is amazing, and I think they have it at Ulta now, but I’ve been using the same tin for a few years now. So if you or anyone here is looking for some cheap and readily accessible solutions, those are what I strongly recommend.

Do you have any recommendations for continuous protection when I can only wear polish twice a month? I have cuticle cream and I am constantly moisturizing due to psoriasis on my hands. For us college folks with very small sums in our bank accounts, are there any natural/home alternatives to stuff like these products? Could I use coconut oil/olive oil in the place of cuticle oil, shea butter in the place of cuticle butter, etc? I have some nice hand cream already, thankfully :D

Olive/coconut oils are nice for the skin, but they don’t penetrate the nails. Neither does almond oil. Shea butter is great before bed.

i used to have my nails as long as yours but I have chron's disease so i'm deprived of essential nutrients, my nails are really thin and brittle and even with many layers of nail polish they ended breaking one by one. i will try putting oil more often to see if it works better!!

I noticed on your blog, you had an image with a scale going from green to red on how likely you are to damage your nails, and showering with naked nails was all the way in the red. If I don't paint my nails often, what is an alternative to protecting them in the shower?

This is so good.. my nails are a lot longer and really white.. unsure how as I’m also a smoker.. and are shaped exactly the same as yours.. I can just never get my thumbs past .5cm though and it’s so annoying.. my nail bed is also quite small so have a lot more white than bed.. I will try all these tips though as I do get the clean break over a bend.. which then my life ends and I could cry haha saying that I’m weird as don’t cut all of them down after.. slightly but not all off.. I have no white on my pinky finger at the mo but I can’t bear to cut the others off.. Makes me sad having a trim.. btw I’m binge watching your videos as a new sub hence the comment on such an old vid.. but I LOVE your channel and about to purchase some peel off base coat as the porn is just too much not to have for myself.. xxx

I NEED me some Bliss Kiss nail oil but I cant afford it 😭😭😭 I live in the UK so with the postage its just a bit too much outta my price range. I'll have to wait for Xmas and ask for money. I dont know what else to try. The last few months my nails are literally just peeling away in chunks! Not just at the tips, from the sides halfway down my nail! My doctor hasnt a clue on whats happening and pretty much just dismisses the problem. My nails look disgusting and are painful cuz of how short they are and from the parts that have peeled away. I dont know what to do. Sorry for the rant guys, I'm just at my wits end with this problem😭

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's so frustrating, especially when the Doctor doesn't even have a clue. The skin around the sides of my nails goes hard and peels too. I take multi vitamins everyday. Will vitamins made especially for nails/skin/hair help or is that pointless seeing as I already take multi-vits? Unfortunately this is a problem that not even Holo top coat can make pretty lol xxx
