Gurllll!, I applaud you on your honesty. I've been natural for 5 years, and I've had big mistakes like moisture, protein overload, color (to cover gray), to henna+protein treatment, following other naturals, wetting my hair everyday. I did get mad growth, but the strands became hypo-fatigue and broke off, using baking soda for Maximum Hydration Method worked fine for 6 months, broke off, wearing PS too long (some of my hair locked) whew! Now, I'm in rehab mode now treating my hair with respect as for protein and moisture balance. I listen to my hair, use natural products and deep condition every wash. So you good!

wow! #5 is sooooo spot on!! Def such a set back. Trying to use up a product that worked for someone else believing it will eventually work is a huge mistake. I'm just now really understanding what my hair likes and responding to the specific signals it gives.
@Hazelbazel4838 жыл бұрын
You should try henna. I'm a natural and I love it! It's natural dye. It's strengthens and conditions your hair as well. Just do a spot test to make sure you're not allergic to it. It doesn't have any chemicals in it.

Baby as far as color goes, hair chalk is the healthiest alternative. It comes out with just water (I believe) and if not, a basic light wash will remove it without damage. And it has amazing colors to choose from!! Hope this helps!! 😊

Where can I find hair chalk?

This was a great list! I'm 4 years natural. Dye for most naturalistas is a definite no no if you have a length goal in mind. I had to learn that my hair and scalp prefers wash n go's for length retention. I do perm rod sets once a year now and blow my hair out every other year. I also had to learn to not go more than 3 or 4 days without washing my hair because of dryness and dc and steam my hair more often. Twistouts are not my friend, nor is ACV, nor heavy shea butter mixes. Considering I'll be natural for the rest of my life, the trial and error of the first few years won't hurt much in the long run.

i recently learned that i have to wash and dc my hair every 3 to 4 days!! only took me 2 years to figure that put but im glad i figured it out!!! i love washing my hair though especially getting rid of my itchy scalp and making it soft and less susceptible to breakage

I really like that last sentence, that is so true. Everything comes with a trial and error period...
@BklynBabe8 жыл бұрын
your hair sound like mine. in fact because I already knew my hair well, from so many years doing it myself, even when it was relaxed, I knew my hair looked frequent washing and deep conditioning. every setback I had came from listening to folk trying to tell me natural hair (or relaxed hair) couldn't be washed every day, and that you had to use oil, or LOC, and shingling, and finger detangling. my hair is not about any of that, my scalp wants to be washed regularly and my hair wants to be wet all the time. if it works for others, that's good, but the biggest thing is learning your own hair instead of following "natural hair rules".

I'd suggest colored Clip ins (human haired clip ins, you can dye yourself). I'm natural as well and my hair hates chemical alteration, including hair dye. Clip ins had been my saving grace for a while so I could a add color without the commitment or the damage.
@shachede68288 жыл бұрын
what i have learned about my hair maybe shocking, but my hair hates deep conditioning for anything more than 5-10mins. i have really full hair but the individual strands are fine, so if i condition my hair for long it gets over conditioned and breaks. i have to really balance my protein and moisture, by alternating it depending on how it feels while washing it. flat iron is no no for me too. almost 3 years natural and i'm still learning.

I been natural all my life and this whole I'm going natural trend made me mad to my core because growing up there wasn't different products, how to videos, what to use and what not to do for natural hair. I feel like watching you, you kept it real and not just slap a wig on at all times. The struggle is real. Now I know how to do my hair just with trail and error. Thanks for the videos keep it up

If you are looking for a dye try manic panic vegan dye you do not have to lighten it and there is no bad things in it it does not alter your curl pattern and it shows up in dark hair. If you want a reddish color use hot hot pink

i would really really recommend wash n gos they are really really low manipulation because there is no pulling or tugging just application of product. i retained so much length with it and i think was due to so much moisture been provided to my hair strands and also because of very low manipulation of my hair
@KiaraMac258 жыл бұрын
My hair tends to tangle like crazy in wash and go's, I might need to change my technique up to help prevent that...but I do agree with it being low manipulation I could see how the hair would flourish.
@LinzeyLiNO8 жыл бұрын
yes i think you just have to find a product that gives great hold for your hair preventing all the hair strands from curling up on each other and tangling again. So your looking for a product that weighs your hair down or a technique that can stretch your wash n go and prevent it from tangling trust me i know. especially with extremely dense hair it can be a struggle in that lane

Naturally Tes i know what you mean i havent done a washngo since May and i use to do it every week since i big chopped now im experimenting with twistouts pretty much mastered it now😅i think the best thing is stick to what you do best with your hair if you are trying to retain length

This is my 3rd year natural and after having a baby I got super lazy with wash days. I feel you about going back to the basics! I had the nerve to wear a perm rod set in this 110 degree weather in Baltimore. Needless to say it lasted one day. this morning I did an apple cider vinegar rinse and am deep conditioning with coconut oil added then going to do the LOC method with my Shea butter mix. Can't wait to see your results after changing your regimen

I have been using Henna for about 4Months it has given me a Bergen dish color. So I just wanted u to look in to that and learn about it. Basically Henna is a natural ingredients with out chemicals. Also it has a lot of benifts ,hair growth, volume and more.I hope u give it a try and see.
