This video covers my recent experience with an electrophysiologist and what he did to make me find another. Hoping to have better luck on the next!

I know how you feel. I had basically every type of arrhythmia you could think of. A-fib, a-flutter, SVT, PAC, PVC, and the original electrophysiologist I had couldn’t really do anything about it. They put me on several medications to try and help it, but they didn’t work. It wasn’t until I went into heart failure that I got moved to an electrophysiologist in Kansas City. He got me on some meds that stabilized me and got me out of heart failure, and I just went in for my first ablation last month. I’ll likely need another one at some point, but I already feel so much better

I’m glad to hear things are going better for you! My ablation procedure at MU helped but it didn’t clear everything up. I was told I’ll probably always have afib.. but I haven’t gone back into SVT since the procedure… so that’s a plus!

@@LeadaQuietLlife That’s definitely a plus! In my experience, SVT was way more uncomfortable than afib. My electrophysiologist also told me that it can take two or three ablations to completely fix afib since it’s a harder arrhythmia to map and pinpoint. Hopefully that’s an option for you in the future! It’s definitely not fun

Good luck with your new doctor! I understand what your going through because I’ve been going through the same thing. The doctor I went to see is not really that concerned about my SVT he just gave me some pill’s to take and I’ll see you in 6 months. I have found that drinking Chamomile tea has helped me to relax because the SVT is scary. I’m going to find a new doctor that will listen and hopefully care.

Oh man, my heart goes out to you and your family. To have to deal with SVT and skipped beats is one thing but to have your doctor not listen to you and make it seem like it's your fault is ridiculous. Unfortunately there are a lot of medical providers out there like this today. I had SVT for about 20 years and was finally diagnosed properly when I had a horrible attack 8 months pregnant in 2011. That sent me to the hospital with two rounds of adenosine. Fun times. Last year I started getting a crazy amount of episodes and knew that it was time to do something about it. I had my EP Study/ablation September 2022 and while I still get pvs/skipped beats, I haven't had an SVT episodes. Hawthorn supplements work wonders for heart. Did your doctor sedate you for the EP study? My EP let me know that I had to be awake during the procedure because if you're sedated, it's harder to create the SVT to find out where the problem is. I hope it works out with your new doctor and that they can fix what's going on. SVT was ruling my life; I was scared of going places, playing with my kids, etc. The slightest thing (bending over, putting sunscreen or lotion on my neck, sudden movements, eating freezer burned foods -weird, right) these all caused SVT episodes. I hope you can find the right doctor to help you. Good luck!

Thank you so much for commenting! It really helps to know that there are people out there who go through the same things. It’s definitely been rough and I need to make a new video updating on my last Electrophysiologist visit.. went way better! But yeah they did sedate me for my first ablation attempt and he wasn’t able to fully trigger SVT but he did find a slow pathway apparently.. he never told me that I had to find that out in my own lol the new doctor explained things way better and even made a second attempt at an ablation.. I’ll make a new video very soon about this last experience

I have wpw syndrome.. My 1st ablation was a failure... my electrophysiologist is very good and polite.. he told me just after the operation that my bp and heart rate went too high during ablation.. that's why it didn't work, but he did lil bit ablation.. he also told ne that required temperature for an ablation is 70°C but my heart received just 55°C because my heart was beating too fast during the procedure. he told me he will do a 2nd ablation.. and i trust him because he is a very good and experienced doctor.

You need to find another Dr!!! Don’t put up with that crap! My ablation was really horrible too. My SVT episodes got worse over the years and were almost everyday lasting hours. I was very symptomatic too. The ablation was not nice. You only have light sedation where I live. It was quite distressing. Get a new dr you deserve better and I’m very sorry it didn’t work out for you xx

As much as I get you not wanting to bash him it would be really nice to know who to avoid, I’ve been having heart problems that no one seems to be able to diagnose or explain and it’s absolutely terrifying, I have episodes where my hands and feet are like ice, I feel tired, feels like my heart is skipping beats randomly, sometimes my heart rate is super fast and other times it’s so slow, I’ve had AFiB two or three times as well so it’s just all horrible, I often have trouble sleeping worried I’m just gonna drop dead in my sleep because no one will even give me the time of day to try and help figure it out, I’ve seen multiple doctors and can’t even get them to do a holter monitor so they can see what I’m talking about as it can be so random, the US healthcare system is terrible at least with what I’ve experienced and I myself have been in the medical field for over a decade

Wishing you much success on your second go around I just finished up my second ablation end of October and it is such a relief its not 100% but it's definitely a much better quality of life Id givevit 85 to 90% siccess rate. Ablation are not always cures it depends whats going in with your heart but it's definitely a better alternative then simply taking drugs that eventually usally stop working as time goes on.

Find someone who has 15 or more years of experience. I would probably interview a patient of theirs before booking an appt. Some are usually more open-minded. Doctors who are willing to listen to a patient. Most doctors do not have the time to talk. Those who do make the time are smarter and usually have more clients.

Doctors like that are the worst!!!! Remember they work for you. I hope it works for you this time! I had a pvc ablation in 2018…was having 20,000 a day. My doctor didn’t have the best bedside manner either but it was tolerable…. At the time I was very desperate as it took me a long long time to hear the words “I can help you”…. I honestly wouldn’t have cared if he was Mickey Mouse ….lol

I’ve managed to switch doctors and I had my first visit with him a few weeks ago. He was incredible! Super friendly and explained everything so well. Seems super knowledgeable and I look forward to him performing my second attempt at an ablation at the end of the month!

I have a question I was diagnosed with SVT because they had me do an EKG 3 times. And I saw the doctor have my results but he never showed me I just glanced at it while I was dealing with an episode. So I didn’t pay much attention because I was too worry trying to get my heart back to rhythm. Also is there any way I can have those results?

You should have access to any records the doctors have. Some make it available online if they have a patient portal or you can call and request your records to be released to you. I’ve had to fill out a release form and email it back before. But I’ve always been able to track down my previous tests. I hope that makes since and was helpful!

@@LeadaQuietLlife Yeah it helped thanks man. I am 22 years old and I think my first episode was when I was like 12. I’ve been to the ER a couple times but never caught an episode in record until like 5 days ago. Age 12-22 Usually (majority) I would sit it out and pray and hope for the best.

Something that has really proven useful for me was to buy a Kardia heart monitor. I’ve been able to catch multiple episodes on it. Seems to have been really useful in convincing the doctors of my issue. Plus it adds a peace of mind knowing that if it happens you will have proof. They also were able to catch it in an ambulance one time which was the deciding factor in getting in for an ablation finally.

@blairvlogs7628 great! I have wolf Parkinson white syndrome and thinking about ablation. There's a new drug coming out that might stave off ablation it's called etripamil, supposedly is short acting and works within 3 mins and is completely out if your system in 20 mins. Says at right dose works 95% of the time, and only have to use it when you have an episode. So going to ask my electrophysiologist about it.

I feel them coming directly from my heart. To me it’s a very obvious change in heart rhythm when it happens. I would say I also feel them in my neck/throat when they happen pretty strongly. Hope that answers your question
