As you get older like me more horrible shit happens in your life. You see loved ones die. You see your time getting closer and closer. You see many opportunities wasted. Sadness galore... And those sad things I mentioned happen to EVERYONE. Even the luckiest of us all who have fame, power, money, talent etc etc... So you appreciate the good stuff every now and then and because life can be so cruel... The opposite feeling can often feel the most empowering. Kind of like going for a while without a drink and you feel like crap, but the second you get your drink after waiting longer than usual, it's better than ever some how lol. Or if you play a video game or watch a movie. Then not play it again for like... 5 or 10 years or whatever... And then you play it again and it's like 80-90% feeling like a new game to you, just because it's been soo long since you played it and a lot of your memory/muscle memory isn't what it once was. Gotta get back into the grove which usually takes folks a few days of on and off playing. Might take a week on some games and how busy you are with other things in life. I'm blayzed and ranting away lol. What am I doin.

Its easy to reminisce and say, “ah, simpler time”, but you know what? I’m 29 and living in 2020. I truly believe this movie and Miyazaki instilled this film with lessons to live one’s life to the fullest. Rewatching the film is truly healthy and uplifting.

ditto mate on the age and the feeling that the future is just gonna eat you up. thats reason enough to not want to grow up but I've found these challenging times force you to adult which can make you forget about the fun and the simpler times but as long as you don't forget the fun you can cope with asulting and dead lines. to yourself and other who see your comment and this one don't lose what defines you and makes you happy.

this was always my favourite movie growing up. the first time i watched it i was probably about 3 or 4 years old, im now 14, i struggle so much with addiction and mental health even though im still so young. so many times ive gotten so overwhelmed with my life i completely disappeared from my friends for hours on end, and only recently one of them called the police to make sure i was okay and that was kinda my wake up call that i do have people that acre about me. sometimes it’s difficult to realize that though when the voice thats been living in your head for about five years constantly tells you no one actually cares. to cope, ive started to watch the movies of my childhood, and it really does help a lot, but none of them help as much totoro. i want nothing more in my silly little life than to tell the team that worked on this film that theyve saved me so many times in the last few weeks its unbelievable. and to whoever is reading this comment i hope you have a good day

I've watched this movie today through the Internet Archive, after hearing about it all the time online and I vaguely recall seeing trailers/posters for it when I was very young. This movie is enchantingly beautiful. The expected "dragons" that are supposed to be threatening our designated protagonists do nothing of the sort, and instead help them out freely. The kids show no fear of the otherwordly, and they really only are afraid their mother would die. I'm also surprised they didn't ask Totoro to help their mother, just find the little sister. But I believe there are things even Totoro cannot do, and the mother got better in the end, so happy ending was assured for all.
