Conservation Agriculture has THREE main principles;
1. Minimum soil disturbance,
2. Residue retention (Soil cover)
3. Crop rotation
Mrs. Serah Wangare put more emphasis on the soil health of her land by doing;
- minimum soil disturbance - to break hardpan and conserve soil moisture
- Crop residue retention
- Manure application
Her maize managed to withstand a very long dry spell - Her neighbour's crop succumbed to drought and suffered 100% loss
