I bought a Remington Versa Max in 2014 and have used nothing else since then. 3.5 inch chamber, shoots like a dream! Its my go to, all round gun. Its killed ducks, rabbits, squirrels, and doves. I had and 870 I got for Christmas when I was about 18, and upgraded when I was about 40. I couldn't be happier with the Versa Max!

I fell while duck hunting a couple of years ago in a pond and had to use the Versa Max as a crutch to get myself up. Mine has been wet too lol.

I run the weatherby element. I like it a lot. I use the factory modified. Patternmaster didn’t really do anything my for patterns, sent it back. My element has taken a complete mud bath and had mud in every crook and cranny, still shoots like new today. I currently run Migra shells

Paternmaster code black duck has worked well for me. Either fold them or clean miss. Works best with 1-3 shot steel. Planning on putting bismuth to the test this season

I'm a Browning guy for my 12s and 16s, but I have Stoegers and now I'm looking at a TriStar 28g. Guns are guns buddy. Bring the ducks in close and they all work. Love the videos.

I got a new duck gun as well. A Fabarm XLR5 Waterfowler. I’ll I can say is anyone looking at a new 12 gauge should put this on their list. The machining/material selection/finishes are all incredibly high quality. Literally everything is cerakote/camo/chromed/titanium nitride/stainless, etc.. nothing to corrode. Very simple gas system to take apart, it’s literally 3 pieces; piston, action bars, and recoil spring. No extra valves or springs in the piston at all. It has probably the best factory chokes on the market and can shoot steel through up to Extra Full 0.040 restriction choke. Very consistent patterns and I see no need to use aftermarket ones. The rib is also mid-height, tapered, extended onto the receiver, and left matte black on top. Best sight picture of any waterfowl shotgun I’ve seen, more like a competition shotgun. It’s also incredibly soft shooting and cycles everything from light 1oz target loads to heavy 3” no problem. It’s a nice weight and balance at 7lb 5oz. I’ve been incredibly impressed by it and I wish more people knew about these.

If you ever get a chance, check out a 10 gauge. The extra weight and bulk over a 12 gauge makes the recoil pretty light with waterfowl loads. You can go to 1 5/8 ounces at 1500 fps, or 1 3/4 ounces at 1350. It’ll shoot the larger pellets better too. They’re so soft shooting compared to a 3.5” 12 gauge.

I've owned/used an 18i since 2020 season, shot a lot of geese and a few ducks with it, great overall gun, no complaints. Last year I bought a new Benelli M2. I've stripped both guns down for cleaning and they are pretty much identical parts wise. I would say the the Benelli is a better made gun, the parts and build quality are superior. Thats not meant to take away from the Weatherby at all, I paid $1000 Can. for the 18i and $1800 Can. for the Benelli both were on sale at time of purchase. Therefor the M2 should be better built at almost 2x the price point.Both guns are full camo 12G but the 18i is chambered for 3 1/2" shells, the M2's are not. I use BB steel on geese and #2-#4 steel on ducks always 3". I use the factory chokes in both, and both guns use the Benelli Crio Plus system. After using both guns and shooting a lot of waterfowl with each I would say they are both very good choices.

I'm a Kicks Chokes guy. But whatever choke you go with remember that if you go Bismuth you may need a little tighter choke than steel.

Muller UFO is awesome. Have not tried there Decoy one yet. The great thing with muller choke you can shot anything through it except Ufo won’t let you shot slugs

I would recommend the pattern master code black duck or the Carlson cremater long range. I sell shotguns for a living and weatherby elements come back with a lot of issues hopefully the 18i is better. Inertia definitely kicks more than gas but cleaner

@@riverrivers250 stoeger 3500 I would recommend more than the weatherby element or get the franchi affinity 3.5 if you can't afford Benelli or berreta or browning. Actually the Browning silver is a mid priced underrated shotgun

I got a weatherby SA-08 20 ga youth model for my kid…( low serial #). It was finicky cycling at best..traded it for a push mower. Hope you have better luck with yours..

My first shotgun was a weatherby SA-08. Lasted about 2k rounds before the cast, pot metal bolt broke. I Will never buy another weatherby, but good luck.

Nice upgrade fella! IMO I like inertia vs gas because it's easier to keep clean. I didnt notice much difference in recoil in gas vs inertia.

I just purchased a new browning A5 in the vintage tan I have a m2 20 and a sbe 3 12 and I like the new A5 12 I picked better than the sbe 3. I have heard that the new weather B shotguns are really good

My understanding is that very little has changed in the development of inertia shotguns. That being said the big improvements come from manufacturing techniques quality control and better materials. The Weatherby element is an absolute incredible shotgun that delivers an incredible bang for your buck. The element is manufactured in turkey and the 18 I manufactured in Italy. My understanding is that the Italian has better quality control built into it. I’m not sure how much more Quality Control could be built into it after I basically had my socks knocked off by the element after handling inspecting and shooting it. That being said, what shotgun did I buy. Why the 18 I of course. Just an incredible gun that gives you Italian craftsmanship without the $2000 price tag. And the best thing about the shotgun is as follows. The choke tubes are already readily available on the market. Just pick the company that you like or want to check out and grab the Benelli super black eagle three choke tubes.

REASON'S if it isn't broken, Why fix it! But Weatherby makes a good shotty. They d bit normally lighter and draw is faster when pulling up on bird's and is very compatible with More expensive shotties. It should be a good one for a solid gun. I woulda got the pump though oh yeah that's a fast little pumper More so than other pump's. Smoothist action forward press with the bolt. It odd to me. Back in the day, I started with a single barrel savage 12 went from that to a pump, went to an Simi automatic. Shot the shit outta That really didn't Like it. Went back to a pump never looked back. Reason if I missed the second shot too wouldn't spend That Last round but learning on an old single barrel mostly even with the Simi only took One shot except if I cripple d Bird but always I never sprayed and prayed. Just to get a Bird. Don't get it wrong if I hit that first Bird there'd be a second. But mostly never smoked off more'n Two shot's. I aslo never liked hunting with more than 3 In a group.

Wow I like your videos but this day and age it's all about trying to sell everything guns are cool Don't get me wrong but I've actually been hunting the same 870 since 1984 I think it was maybe 5 and the following year I got a rim to 1100 and I've had the same guns that I got caught continuously in Goosebumps I do own another guns mainly for show or hunting other things but they have to upgrade new shotgun to go duck hunting just don't see it if you buy something good and take care of it it is a tool that you're using so it's not going to be pristine but keep it oil keep taking care of initialize your lifetime and three and a half inch sorry you can keep it I'll take my 3 in all day long and I'll perform you 3 and 1/2 in and I'll drop down to 2 and 3/4 a lot of times sorry pay don't do any better it's on the ammunition if they would go back to making ammo like they used to when they first come out with steel shot heavier loads you wouldn't have to worry about anything or just start reloading your own making real shells Right amount of powder the right amount of steel shot in the load to make it a little heavier
