I so relate with you about being too specific and wanting everything to be perfect with my notes that I pay more attention to how I’m writing rather than what I’m writing. It’s something that I’m also trying to fix

I thought I was the only one with a notebook obsession! I am trying out bullet journaling for the first time this year - I like the freedom but definitely relate to "make it pretty" syndrome. Even with my bullet journal I have a general notes one, one for youtube and blogging and one for teaching yoga.

Ooh, good luck bullet journaling this year. It's always fun to try new formats and see what works best for us!

Oh Chelsea! Thank you so much for this video! So inspiring and I just looooove notebook chatter :) And I am totally with you on the whole perfectionism when it comes to my own notes/notebooks. I also managed to stay consistent with journaling because I used those cheap "unimportant" notebooks at the beginning. Because of that, I wasn't afraid to mess up which I had previously whenever I wanted to use a pretty notebook. This is in fact my number one tip for anyone who wants to start journaling. Start with a cheap notebook and when it becomes a habit, move on to the pretty ones. I also keep wanting to start bullet journaling but I just don't think I have the time right now to do so and I know my perfectionism will sneak in very quickly. So for 2018 I actually bought a planner with a lot of space so I have room enough to kind of bullet journal :) Ahh so exciting. I am sending you so much love! xx Ronja

I use the L1917 to bullet journal but it ends up being more of a what I did today instead of what I want to do tomorrow. I use it to track practically everything, especially my goals for the year. I also decided to bring my word count trackers into my bullet journal instead of a separate writing notebook this year. I use a composition notebook to record notes from online classes, books I am reading or in-person classes. I enjoyed hearing the thought process that someone else goes through when planning what system to use or put in notebooks you have. Thanks for sharing!

And thank YOU for sharing! I feel the same way. It’s always so helpful to hear how other people create a system that works for them. It’s a great way to brainstorm and try new methods. I’m happy you’ve found something that works for you!

I’ve been using a bullet journal for the last few months and I really like it. Even though it’s a “planner”, I also look at it as a journal. I try to make it pretty, but it just kind of ends up looking like a mess, but I’m okay with that, because it seems like a diary of my life through this year, the goals I tried and accomplished, or failed at, my spiritual journey and just my day to day life. I am thinking about incorporating an actual diary into my next month’s spreads, but I haven’t quite worked that out yet.

Thanks for sharing! I love hearing what other methods people use and can definitely see the benefit of having one "home" for all of your thoughts, goals, schedules, etc.

I have three journals total! A travel journal that has trips dating back to 2015. A planner like yours (except I require a back pocket to put wedding invites and ect collected throughout the year) and a thesis/to-do list journal.

Hi Chelsea! I'm from Brazil and I'd like to say that I love your videos, they're inspiring and always give me good ideias and reflection about my routine. I must say that I have some difficulties in stablishing a routine, but your videos are helping me a lot. I wish you to have a wonderful year with lots of good videos for us...😉 (PS: Sorry for the bad English...)

Thank you so much! That means a lot. It definitely takes a while to change our rhythms and routines in life so don't give up, be patient with yourself, and little by little you will get there! We are all in this together. (And your English is incredible by the way!)

I didn’t start a new journal this year. I just carried on using the ones I already was using, including my bullet journal. I love making my bullet journal look pretty but when I don’t have the time for that I just use the normal to do listing system and that works really well too! I love having all my notes in there, it makes for me to never having to search for anything except for a quick glance at my index ;)

YES! It's so helpful to have everything in one place. Makes it quite enjoyable to go back and find what you're looking for too! :)

Happy New Years, Chelsea! I don't write regularly in my journal, but I'm starting to get into video journaling where I records my thoughts & feelings on my cell. I also have a planner where I write down all of my appointments & I stumbled across an article online which talked about the importance of having a work journal, so I may look into that. I'm also a perfectionist (like you) but I honestly feel that I would feel overwhelmed if I had the amount of notebooks you have, but you did say that you were a writer. :)

Video journaling! I love that. You're the only person who has mentioned that so far and I'm so glad that you did. That will be amazing to look back on later!

Every sunday, I go to youtube to see your videos and I like them a lot! I do have a notebook for journaling, gratitude, planner and notes from books I love. It's easier to me. You are such an inspiration for me! Can you make a video about your favorite TED talks and what you've learned from them? :)

Aww, wow... that really means a lot! I've also found splitting up my notebooks to be easier. And thanks for the video request. I'll add that to my list and when I have enough favorites, I might share :)

I like to start a new journal on Jan. 1st, so I write a LOT to finish up my last journal. This year, I have a planner, journals (different subjects), notebooks, Gratitude Journal...a total of 9 lol. We'll see how it goes...

Hello! I use a L.1917 for my bullet journal and any pretty or fun journal I find, or get as a gift, for my personal journal. For my bullet journal, as long as I have more than 20 or so pages I finish it up. I sometimes do washi tape etc., more often I don't. For my personal journal, I use it up before starting a new one.

Hey Chelsea, loved this videoa. I, too like several different notebooks for different purposes. I do bullet journal, but I also take notes for books I'm reading, or specific projects where I want the notes for a project conceded, not spread out. You said you are on the edge if bullet journaling, have you looked at the original bullet journal set up? Ryder Carroll the invented of bullet journal, uses a her minimalist style. It sounds like that style would really suit you and you can do it in any notebook you have, doesn't have to be the one most "bujo" people use. I put a little color in mine if I have time, but don't always. Again, enjoyed the video a lot. Thanks!
@iamchelseadinen6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Yes, I have looked at the original bullet journal set-up but still felt the pull to go with my current set-up. We shall see what next year holds though! I've found adding a little color (when I have the time as well) to my notes is always fun! :)

I carry a small planner in my bag, have a bigger one at home so I can write things hour by hour (for example from 11am until 2pm headache) because I have lots of health issues so maybe I can get to know the cause of something, you never know!, and anything else important to me. And oh notebooks, don't get me started.. I'm planning to go notebook shopping Wednesday afternoon! The way you explained why things worked out or didn't work out for you gave me ideas so thank you so much! Wishing you lots of love & health in 2018, xx Lyn

Hey Miss Chelsea!! Sure did miss you! Glad you’re back 👏👏. Soooo I tried all the fancy schmanci stuff and finally years ago I got a medium sized spiral black notebook at Walgreens. To do lists are for first half of notebook, second half is for what I call my brain dump 💁🏻♀️. As in everything else under the sun. No fuss no muss. And like you, I like mine after it’s been through the ringer for awhile. Hehe. My question to you is , what pen/pens do you like ? Seems like I’m always on the hunt for the perfect one 🙄. I’m so happy you are back 😘 P.S to keep the notebook closed I use a cute little elastic headband.
@iamchelseadinen6 жыл бұрын
Aw, thank you! I'm happy to be back :) Having a place for a brain dump is SO important I've found. I've tried a few different pens but keep coming back to my Uni-Ball Signo 207 Micro. Which pens do you like?
@dianaray14706 жыл бұрын
Chelsea Dinen Thank you Chelsea for your reply ❤️. I can’t wait to try your pen of choice. I seem to keep going back to the pilot G-2 pen. It’s a gel pen so sometimes seems a little too smooth for me. P.S. just as a side note I wanted to tell you that I also watch you for ASMR reasons. Your voice is sooo calming and comforting 😊.
