Very nice original car, I'd leave it totally stock. The good thing about the towbar, is that is discourages the touch parkers and protects the rear bumper.

My Father bought one new on a 'C' plate. The diesel version in black. A reliable car that did over 100,000 miles before he traded it in.

Very reliable and solid car I would just lightly restore keep as standard like you said smarten and clean up a light bit of body work done and use it and enjoy the engine will run and run if maintained should be bullet proof Ideal family runaround

Nice choice...great channel all these retro motors brings back a lot of good memories. I got my driving license in 1982 in Manchester when I was 17. Lived though last 32 years down under here in Oz so your definitely driving my era motors. Keep em coming and I'll stay subscribed 👍

My Dad had one of these in 1986, same spec but in green (Nearly ran me over when he brought it home). To this day he maintains it's the best car he's ever owned. I'd keep it stock, I don't think the steering wheel is original though, looks like it's off a turbo?
