After over a year and a half of waiting I finally got my custom built Shiloh sharps today. Built at the same place that made Tom Sellecks rifle for Quigley down under. Please give the video a like, subscribe and comment if you liked the video.

Excellent. Mine took about four years to show up in the 1990s. Same as yours except shotgun butt, regular finish, and a half octagon barrel. Recoil won’t be severe for you, though moreso with your military buttplate. You just purchased a family heirloom. Congratulations.

I ordered a Bridgeport model from C Sharps Arms. Took around 8 months to get it. 34" NO#1 heavy octagon barrel, fancy wood, case hardened receiver, chambered in 50-140. Before I ordered it I made sure I was able to make the ammunition myself because you can't go to Walmart and say give me a box of 50x3-1/4 Sharps Straight. I cast a 700 gr Creedmoor type slug for my loadings and got the mold and dies from Buffalo Arms, Dixie Gun Works is also a good source of supplies, brass, and parts. I also found that Accurate Arms powder 5744 works really well in these large black powder cartridges and is much less corrosive with a lot less recoil to achieve black powder velocities. I understand and respect that a lot of guys only use black powder because of the tradition, I was always more of a big bore enthusiast myself. Something I learned about it, it seems to shoot heavier bullets with much better accuracy than the traditional loadings (hence the 700 gr Creedmoor slug) so if you're experiencing keyholing or bad accuracy, try a heavier slug. They are indeed beautiful rifles. Enjoy, Cheers!

Nice, thanks for the info. I want the Quigley gun but it's 45-110 black powder and I don't have the setup to reload yet. If you like big bore then look at my video of me shooting the .600 overkill. Its a very big bore lol. Also C Sharps Arms is literally a hundred yards down the street from Shiloh Sharps.

Please do remember to half cock the hammer, so that there is no forward pressure on that firing pin. When at rest the firing pin protrudes beyond the face of the breach block. Openning without releiving the forward firing pin can shear of and break the firing pin. I have three such rifles, no sense damaging such a fine weapon.

25 Years ago I walked into Martin Rettings in LA and bought an Axtel 1877 replica Sharps. A 45 70. Pretty rifle. Today Shiloh is making Sharps rifles in 30-40 and I want one. I'll plink with it. I just sold my original Sharps 45/70 business rifle. Have owned it for nearly 60 years. Figure I'll let someone else love it for a lifetime.

They are amazing rifles! Well worth the wait. Craftsmanship and attention to deal that's next to none. As far as 45-70 goes your factory Remington, Federal Hornady Winchester ect. doesn't recoil that bad. Nor do black powder reloads. But when you shoot Buffalo Bore or Corbon out of them you know you are doing something. Similar recoil to a .300 wby or 338 Win mag with full power 500gr or 450gr pills. Good news is the recoil pulse isn't as sharp it's more of a big shove, still painful after 20 rounds. With Standard factory ammo it's a pussy cat to shoot and fun too! If you set it up for long range you'll be impressed! The ole sharps still has it! It will draw attention when you go to a range and you are ringing steal at 500-700 yards next to guys shooting their PRS rifles in the 6.5 cm with scopes that cost as much as your sharps. It still impresses even to this day! It will impress the PRS guys!!

I understand that their waiting list is so long that when you order one you have to pay for it in full, then you don't get the rifle, but you get a production date ( the date on which your rifle will be completed) and many individuals, are selling their production dates, at steep markups!.
@txusmc69
@txusmc69 3 жыл бұрын
The wait time for me was about a year and then six months to make. I had it paid for by the time my spot came up for production. Also the production date is the date it begins production not the day it's finished.

I visited Shiloh Sharps in Big Timber about 15 years ago. At the time they had about half a dozen rifles hanging on the wall that were ready to go. I had just walked into the shop. I asked them if I could buy one and they said, "Sure". You may not get exactly what you want, but you still get a nice rifle.
