Sounds awesome man! Tyler Childers and Colter Wall are two of my favorite artists and you hit the nail on the head with your covers! One song that I’d love to hear you play by Tyler Childers is “help me make it through the night.” Such a great song. Congrats on the new guitar!

Thanks! I really appreciate it. That's a great song, and I love Tyler's version too, but it's actually a Kris Kristofferson song that he covers, and he covers it extremely well...in a way that only TTC can. I can give it a shot though!

Rex would love it if you would consider doing a video on your amazing right hand sans pick. Thanks for all your vids.

"Right Hand Sans Pick"...haha...I like it. I'm gonna start calling it that. I'll consider it, I just got to figure out how I would teach it and then put it out there. It's one of those things that just kinda happened over the years. I actually started with a pick and then switched to the "Right Hand Sans Pick" when my kids came along to keep the volume down while they were sleeping, so it was less a "learned style" and more a "evolution from necessity".

All time greatest guitar! Beautiful

Thank you. I played SOOOO many guitars leading up to buying this. The Collings D2HA is pretty darn close, but this one just has that inexplicable quality to it. I'd like to eventually get a 000, OM, or a Gibson LG2 for fingerpicking, but this D28 can really do it all. I'm in no hurry.

Well all my heroes played/play the 28 so its def my favorite but I'd love a hummingbird as a backup ha. Btw love the videos. Everytime I get stuck on a song I'm learning it seem you have a video for it! Great minds think alike

Love the new guitar man. Its also a goal of mine to get a martin one day. I am trying to find a good tutorial for " sorry for the things" by Benjamin Todd. I thought maybe you would be up to the challenge. Congrats again.

Hm. That’s a hell of a tune. I’ll mess with it and see if I can pull it off.

Rex, I have subscribed to you now for about a year and enjoy your covers as well as a couple tutorials. The D-28 sounds great. Would love to compare the sound to my 2010 HD-28. I also have a Taylor 814ce and just bought a Gibson Vintage Hummingbird about 5 months ago. I like all of them for different songs and sound but the Martin is my favorite. I keep it tuned down a full step and just capo it on the second fret to play normal chords on Colter Wall stuff. Do you have medium strings on your D-28? I have tried Martin and Elixir mediums on my HD-28 but you should try a set of Gibson Mediums Coated Phosphor Bronze. They play and sound incredible. I know you will enjoy that guitar.

Thanks for sticking around, Randy. Sounds like you've got quite the arsenal! I will definitely try those strings. It does have mediums on it right now. I'm going to play around with different gauges and materials. I'd like to try the nickel again. They sounded a bit tinny to me last time, but I used lights before. So many options, but Phosphor Bronze is typically what i go back to.
