Not a Colter Wall song, he covered it. This song goes back at least 140 years. It was actually very popular in the West. It's a traditional folk song. Great job. I love Coulter Wall, not trying to disparage him, the truth though is a lot more interesting. Cheers!

Thanks, but I’m aware. Re-read the title of the video. I did a lesson on a Colter Wall cover.

Love this but I can’t track how you pick/strum through the F chord during the verses. Any tabs or help is appreciated.
@RexRichardsMusic5 ай бұрын
I’ll give it a shot. I think you’re talking about the transition from the C to the F and back to C (like at 0:09 ). So from the C shape I walk to F with an open 4th string, to second fret 4th string, then third fret 4th string. Then immediately an open 3rd string / hammer on 2nd fret 3rd string. Then immediately back to the C shape with 3rd fret 5th string, to open 4th String/hammer on 4th string 2nd fret. It’s just a quick slip in and out of the F shape.

The art on your wall in your other videos... I couldn't help but notice the Sun is missing. Most don't know the eastern philosophical significance of that painting. It's a strange wonderment everytime I see it occulted in the west with the red circle 🔴 missing.. Quite a rabbit hole... fractals

Thanks for the lesson! How many strums of down up until you change? Is it one bar per chord?
@RexRichardsMusic10 ай бұрын
The pattern is really down, down-up with the first down beat of each strum pattern/cycle being on the root or the alternating bass note. The fast down-up is a strum of the full chord. Yes, each chord is played for one bar (4 strum ‘cycles’). I am obviously not a trained musician with the vocab dialed 😂. I pretty much play by ear/feel when it comes to rhythm. Sorry if this is unclear to a more polished musical vocabulary. 😬

@@RexRichardsMusicNo this makes perfect sense. I'm just starting out and only had my guitar around 2 months so learning rhythm and strum patterns etc is new to me so sometimes it's hard to work out by watching. Thanks very much for the reply and this video.

I had the same problem with my picking as you talk about in this video and what I did was bought some med picks and then hold them between my thumb and firstfinger with only a tiny part of the tip of the pick out. This gave me a ton more control and I got a lot better at picking. Hope you can benefit from this as well. Love your video though. So easy to follow along with your teaching!!
