Most of the players are used to play with the ASW planes so they are mostly caught off guard with the airstrikes thinking that it is just a ASW thing but when the bombs fell, its too late to react

That will be for some time , like with every new ship , I remember when I got fresh Yoshino , I got so many long rage torpedo kills simply because majority players did not knew what this is , those who will spend db on her for that 2-4 weeks will feel like Gods , but before xmas everybody will know what to expect form Tromop , and no one will just camp begind island , Dutch cruiser exist in game with that crap , and that dont breake game.

We encountered a Tromp in clan battle a few days ago. A teammate was in a Russian cruiser was getting hammered by these air strikes. I told him it was a DD that had a 10k range for the air strikes. He used his 12K radar and destroyed the DD. A great team up would be a Tromp with Gouden Leeuw. I plan on picking up a Tromp when it is available for coal. Once more players become aware of the Tromp and develop strategies to deal with this DD it will not seem so OP.

Actually a quite interesting ship and an interesting counter to radar cruisers. These bombs seem to drop without the parachute like the Dutch cruisers do so i guess easier to aim. But damn, your aim is on-point here.

The time difference from click to drop with the Tromp is I believe 11s, whereas the dutch cruiser airstrikes are 14s. 3 seconds doesn't seem like a lot, but it does seem to make a huge difference.

From what it seems the airstrikes bombs are narrower and way more packed than the cruiser line and the 7Province hence why it would make it easier to hit dds

Hitting dds using Tromp airstrikes is really difficult unless those dds just sail in a straight line or just sit somewhere without moving for no reason. Battleships are your main target but judging with the current meta getting to get within 10km is rather difficult with radars, subs and CVs are running around. Playing too aggressive early will make you going back to port early.

That's deffo a very flexible DD, & air-strikes every 48s is just plain scary, given how nasty they worked (only @ T5 in the Dutch CL line, so painful, so don't have experience of delivering air-strikes from Dutch CLs yet)

The ship must be very strong, because it's sold for cash as some form of early access, before it goes into the armory for coal. Once all whales got the op version it will be nerfed when it becomes available for coal. WG has done this many many times with a lot of ships, that were released in a broken state just to nerf them a few months down the road. If they can not be nerfed, because everyone would complain, they simply remove them because they are "too popular" (JB, Georgia, Smolensk, Alaska, …) and then sell them either through special events (Black Friday) or via loot boxes. Typical WG move and not surprising at all.

I really dont think its that good. I mean yeah solid guns solid conceal good HP pool, But the Main feature the airstrike is kind of underwhelming with only 21mm of pen. You dont damage anything on ships only superstructure and thats not enough for me personally. Thats why i dont think its worth all the Money you have to pay in Order to get it in early access

I completely agree with you on the Tromp, although I didn't get any insane bomb drops on DDs like you had in this video, I still managed to hit them fairly often and every chunk of damage on them counts and makes it easier to gun them down the old fashioned way, since the guns are really nice too :) Tromp is just a ton of fun to play when you can utilize all your armaments :D

@@EvoraGT430 It's true for all air power, but this is a ship that can get in range of other ships without being seen itself. I know it's kind of true for the Dutch cruisers as well, but they are not the stealthiest anymore. And this DD has *good* stealth.

@@dany1441 10.3km detect with a 13km Airstrike range and the Sharnhorst's guns on a T10 cruiser with a 40mm icebreaker is a pretty potent combo. I'd still call that pretty stealthy.

Where are these planes meant to be coming from? Are they being launched from the dd? If so, I couldn't see any planes on the Tromp when it was in port. If they are just magically appearing, does this mean there is nothing stopping WG from giving air strikes to subs. Wouldn't that be fun ...

I'm not sure it is the 11sec lead time. I think it is the SMALL BOX. If you hit, you REALLY hit. All the bombs are compressed.

The ship is interesting, and as usual the way WG is releasing it is just the worst kind of monetization mobile game style bullshit. It is both expensive, eats up free XP (which WG appears to hate more and more) and requires yet another "currency" to convert and get. I hope people wait but based on Black Friday it appears people have no problem buying coal ships for real money.

It does really matter for airstrike if you are spotted or not. You can just use island to cover yourself dont really change the gameplay. In fact if i remember the tier 10 Dutch cruiser can also drop airstrike while not spotted.

Originaly the Tromp class had the same bofor guns as de Ruyter. the same torpedos as the Dutch Submarine Mark V53. and they actualy went boom unlike the american torpedos , Tromp was actualy quite a resiliant Flotilla leader cruiser . specificly build to counter japanese special destroyers , taking on several japanese destroyers damaging them when covering a with draw , in close range fighting she got hit 11 times and was still operational Her sister ship Jacob van Heemkerk was outfitted in england with different guns as there was no fire control for bofors , so she got 5 twin 4inch dual purpose turrets and tons and i mean tons of AA . If she comes to the game it would be the first destroyer with 10 Guns.

Almost the same price of a Marceau when it becomes available for coal..sure it has concealment advantage but those airstrikes are not going to land on a Marceau unless it’s stuck…and knowing where the strikes are coming from tells the Marceau exactly where Tromp is to close the distance and annihilate it

I don't think the airstrikes will counter radar cruisers much. The bombs seem to shatter on most cruiser decks and fires are not as big of a deal than on BBs. I think right now it's strong against hydro.

First of all...why has WG stopped making great ships available for steel? I remember the Stalingrad! Wow, it took a long time for me to accumulate enough steel for it but it made obtaining steel very desirable. Now days, everytime there is a ship ( esp DDs) I am excited about... no dice. I have been accumulating steel for some time now with nothing I want to spend it on. Vampire 2... yes I want it, sorry research points ( great, just what I want to do, regrind a whole ship line again..tnx WG). Anyway, thats my whine, sorry. Next post will be the Trompf.

06:30 ok maybe I want one... nah, I almost bought it for Coal buuut naah, Tromp is bad, the Airstrikes might be awesome against DDs and 16mm deck cruisers, but against anything bigger they still suck, 3-4-5k damage per strike on big ships (so 6-10k if you use double, every 90s lets say) and thats only with perfect aim which is not how things will go in real games, Tromp will lose a gunfight with at least half of T10 DDs in the game (unlike Ragnar, Elbing that have 25mm armor covering most of their side), gun angles are bad (all guns can aim 31deg from nose, but 42deg from rear), and most importantly Tromp has basically ZERO AA, zero flak + no smoke so you are a free kill for most CVs. Elbing, Ragnar, Regolo very often die to random torps because of bad maneuverability and lack of hydro, so will Tromp. To use Airstrikes on bigger ships you need to get within Radar range and around 10km big ships will hit you very very well, Elbing and Regolo have smoke to help with that, Ragnar has a heal, Tromp has nothing. When your speed boost is on cooldown most T10 cruisers can chase you and catch you without a problem. Tromp is a bad ship for winning games, enemy DDs will usually outplay you. If you do like Airstrikes a lot, Gouden is a much better ship.

this looks fun indeed. I do note a massive difference in power vs the gouden leeuw for instance. If I had 68 bomb hits with the GL, I would have well over 100-150k dmg (depending if I also fired my guns well. I usually get around 50/50 split guns vs bombs with the GL. main upside for this is the fire chance of these bombs, you can burn down, or help the team burn down ships hard with these strikes

Orange happens to be the color of the Dutch royal family. So we (the Dutch) use orange a lot. For instance our national sport teams wear orange. So the double meaning of: orange for Trump might be lost on a lot of Dutchies 😬

Maybe it's just me but these airstrikes feel way out of place on a DD. What happened to alone and unafraid. Guns and torps is all there should be and the damage from these air strikes, good gravy! It feels like WeeGee should have the good grace to at least blush for putting something like this out in the wild and doubly so for trying to charge what they have been.

Instead of airstrikes i hope that dutch dds can deploy fighters at the 10km range on tier 10, that wpuld be cool and teamplay oriented, like 6 fast reaction fighters or 9 maybe.

I played against it in the IOWA yesterday, probably got hit with 50 airstrikes. There was a Kearsarge and a Malta in there, but they werent attacking me. I had to ask the team where all those damn planes were coming from. Its such a pain in the ass.
