I like these One Takes because there is more for me to learn. Watching the games where you do really well is quite entertaining but I often don't understand what makes you go right (and succeed) where I would have gone left and got myself killed. These games are just more realistic, I guess is the word. If you make a mistake and explain why it was a mistake, that's something I can use.

@PotatoQuality 24:40 you can now just select the Harugumo and research all the way down the line if you want to quickly reset, it will include the entire free xp amount you need and dont need to research each ship individually

you are gimping your team if you are the only DD on your flank. Spotting is still part of your job. And although you might do some good damage, it will never compensate the damage your teammates could have done with vision.

Harugumo is a Smolenks that trades a bit of burning power for the ability to shred cruisers. Thus, your primary focus should be doing damage from relative safety. Occasionally you transform into a DD with your 6.2 conceal and hunt down a mispositioned DD or take a cap when it's free.

uhh Harugumo trades DPM for survivability Smolensk will dumpster anything in range if he can land all his shots, but he can get citadeled the fuck up Harugumo can dumpster anything in range if they're big (at range) or fairly light (mid to close range), but can't do it as fast, and won't get absolutely smashed like Smolensk. Like Smolensk will win any DPM battle where it comes to "how fast can I delete their health bar with non-AP" except against maybe an Annapolis or Austin's MBRB

@@williamturner7131 harugumo is too clumsy to be survivable, except in dd 1v1s. You don't get high potential dmg games. When anything shoots you you're taking big damage. And you're usually closer to the enemies. But much less vulnerable to blindfire, than smolensk, that's true. harugumo is better at killing angled cruisers than smolensk. forget the fires when every salvo is 2-3k

if you want a REALLY solid AA destroyer i'd suggest firing up the Marceau with the AA module in slot 6, with her DFAA active there's enough flak to take down pretty much any squad of planes in seconds and it feels WAY more powerful than the Halland. i had one game with an FDR that made the mistake of trying to stroll past me and i removed an entire fresh launched squad of bombers in literally 4 seconds flat, they hit 2 flak clouds back to back and vaporized. with the 5% flag, the module and DFAA active it deals almost 7k dmg from shell explosions and a continuous damage of about 360 dmg for a nice 40 seconds, if you can rush the carrier you can deplane them pretty much when they try to launch a squad. on top of the Marceau's already crazy speed, maneuverability and daka daka it's honestly one of the best DDs at T10 imho! just played a ranked match last week where i ended up solo on the BC cap side against a Stalingrad and Montana and i was a little reckless charging towards enemy cap and came around the corner into the Stalin at about 6 km lol luckily torps were up so i could at least slow him down for my retreat, he did eat 1 torp but i ended up burning him out while running away about halfway into our cap but not before he set a final fire that finished me off! the Montana i did manage to get a reset or 2 on before i knew i had to focus priority on the Stalingrad. if you get broadsides use AP because she hits for about 4-6k a salvo and can bring down the toughest of cruisers pretty quick! i have had a few opportunities to citadel a Stalingrad with those little 127's but it was at like 2km on a drive by.

Fires are nice and all, but being able to actually pen BBs to me is far more important. At 11:05 you have landed well over 80 shells and shattered nearly 2/3rds of them, while if you had IFHE you would have likely only shattered 5-10 shells total. From my perspective reliable damage is better than trying to rely on the RNG of fires, even more so when you are dealing with a stock 5% fire rate. So with IFHE you still have 2.5%, pair that with the two fire flags and you are now back to 3.5%, 4.5% with pyro, and you get to pen 37mm. You literally lose less than 3 fires per minute to be able to deal consistent damage to BBs. Edit* 14:08 "Take extra damage output" See that extra damage output only matters if you can pen the ship you are shooting at. IFHE IMO is a better pick than Survivability Expert, as you already have great HP, on paper DPM is useless if you can't do anything with it. To put it another way, 1 pen is 400 damage(before damage saturation) for a fire to deal that much damage the target would have to have 133,334 HP, and you can have 10 pens every 2.5 seconds, or 3.9 pens per second(basically 1600 damage per second), so you would need to have 4 active fires to make fires worth it over just being able to pen the deck of BBs, and on a base 5% fire chance that is nearly never going to happen. Edit 2* I would argue that the arms race game you had would have been a blowout ether way, the other team had already lost multiple important ships before many buffs had come into play, losing the Shima and sub, the flank you were on was already won you just hadn't realized it until after the sub was dead. Honestly that's just a problem with game modes like Epicenter and Arms Race, in general it's the team that pushes better wins and the majority of players don't push, they want to sit back and spam from long range, because as a Montanta once told me, "If I have the range why shouldn't I use it?". So when you put players like that into a game mode that requires pushing, they fall over and die. Even most of your own team was barely out of spawn, so it's fair to say it's less of a problem of the game mode, and more of a problem with the player base not understanding how to play their ships. I will agree sometimes Arms Race can snowball, but it mostly falls into the other team having not pushed well and thus just falls apart anyway, it just makes the win faster, and that's not totally a bad thing. Though at the same time I've had Arms Race battles where the team with the fewer buffs won, by working together and focus firing on the ships that came into the cap and just taking the cap. I've also had Arms Race battles where I've claimed multiple buffs in my Audacious because the other team was so passive and didn't push at all, I could safely push up and grab buffs.

Would like to see some form of King of the Hill mechanic implemented with the Arms Race to better balance it. Give both sides 1 or 2 "easy" cap areas that gives them the bonus for as long as they have a ship inside for a certain duration, and then have 1-3 contested cap areas with the same requirement.

Honestly with the Haru line I ended up just keeping Kitakaze and playing that - you're still a very strong gunboat without the fifth turret, and you gain the maneuverability and speed to act more like a regular DD when contesting caps as well. Ah, that Arms Race game. Precisely my thoughts on it - so silly to have a game mode where the winning team gets *buffed*!

Since Haru guns with IFHE can pen 37mm - this is great against those new heavy French cruisers. They have 36mm deck. Same with Alaska as well.

From my ranked experience, i really love hagurumo. I grinded from rank 10 bronze to silver rank 3 in a week. It is a good dd against other dd (i play hagu by her rules) if you know what are you doing. Remember support your cruiser and play like a team.

I agree with you in general about Arms Race. WG seems to have no idea why catch-up mechanics are a worthwhile thing, let alone how to implement them (*cough* Detonations). Plus Arms Race completely invalidates any previous records held, as there is simply that much more damage on the table. It does share one redeeming thing with Epicenter, though. It is a gamemode that encourages and rewards aggressive play. Nothing worse than a passive snipe fest with no reason to move up past the H line (*cough* Standard Battle).

A big thing that should always be noted about the Harugumo is that it has what basically amounts to short fuse AP so you can get excellent full pens on broadside French DDs and totally ignore their cheeky saturation mechanic. You can also get full pens with ease on cruiser and BB super structure with it. It is just an overall highly forgotten strength of the Harugumo.

I quite like arms race but you have to push right from the start, I assume that was the play they were after (not that I'd give them any credit for listening...)..... If the team supports and you get in quick then it's fine.... No support and no push then you're playing every other round in a DD!

Showing how to stay alive is important and useful for learning to play against CV’s in a DD. I feel like your spotting, damage threat & capping ability late game is way more important than the early damage you could have done playing too aggressively.

Harugumo does one thing in the game better than any other ship. Farm RB points. Mine gets reset consistently and built back up with free XP to get those juicy multipliers. I usually get it to a x10 or so and get a ship, Leg mod, and a bunch of flags to build credit economy more.

I main IJN and this is my main destroyer / tier 10 ship. I always having fun with the Harugumo especially i have like 200+ games with it so i know how to play this ship correctly. What i like about this DD is the ofc firepower, it has the most gun of any destroyer and the fire freaking fast ! With gun boat build you can decrease the RoF down to only 2.5 seconds, and if you build IFHE you can literally pen battleship and do full damage with 37 mm pen ! I mean any gun boat is much more enjoyable than a torpedo boat to me so this ship is perfect for my perference ! But yeah the ship is rather slow but it is by no mean the F.Sherman or Tromp slow, it is just fast enough than majority of large ship, 36 knt stock and about 37 knt with flag i believe so it is decent, but the turning circle is painfully large! So when you turn you want to slow down the ship a little so you can turn a little bit tighter. Also despite it is being a gun boat it still has 6 torps and torpedo reload booster with decreased cool down and these torps are from Shima, so that is a bug plus! And the concealment is decent at 6.2 km despite how large this thing is. It also has large HP pool, and while the AA is not as crazy as the Halland but it is definitely useful, these 100 mm guns are great! I love this ship, can't wait to get the unique upgrade for it.

Harugumo is a bit powercrept... The big plus was the dakka with good he dpm which was paid with handling of a light cruiser (aka brick). But Friesland has at t9 nearly the same HE-DPM, Vampire II, Marceau & Smaland have even better HE-DPM. I would take a Vampire II over the Harugumo every day.

I made my Haru with the range and added the Research Bureau smoke and play it between islands. I don’t cap until the enemy DD’s are gone and with the RB you get an extra consumable so you get 5 smokes and 5 torp reloads. You do end up with a 6.9 concealment. Still a lot of fun to play. o7

I actually liked the older iterations of Arms Race, but this new one just feels off on so many levels. Some of the problems could quite easily be fixed if most of the buffs spawned in, well, the spawns. Give both teams a comparable amount of buffs to actually get the match going, rather than just handing them all out to whoever managed to win the first engagement. Few of the buffs should obviously still be in contested areas so there's still some incentive to move out. Just not so many that a team is forced into a situation where they need to suicide push while already in a bad spot or concede all of the buffs and then just auto-lose a bit later. Another thing that really doesn't help the current system is that there's just way more damage tied into the buffs than in the previous Arms Races, so it's even more snowball-y.

Would be nice if we got some of the buffs that we saw in Bug Hunt as well Vampire, so the more damage you do, the more you heal Speed increases Maybe there are some buffs that buff secondaries-- each level increases secondary battery range & accuracy by 10%, for a max of 30%, for example Consumable recharge speed etc

But i hated this version and it plays nothing like the fun mode i remember. I don't know why exactly, but one thing mentioned here is true. The buffs now spawn more central, which has a lot of issues.

Triple uptier only happens in fail divs that's you not the game. And in double uptier you get increased XP and credit bonuses so it's quite worth it.

Harugumo is tough because it requires you to throw out most of the DD handbook and play it like a cruiser. But it takes up a DD slot on the team... but sometimes it's just a mess of trying to figure out how to fill the DD role while doing cruiser things. I find that it performs EXCELLENT if you can stay mid-to-long range and get spotting intel from other dd's or cv's. Especially in the era of superships because they are massive and easy to farm at max range. If you are forced to go spot for the team or contest caps early it's almost always going to end badly. Second thing I like to do with harugumo is play close to a friendly german BB... Preussen, Schliffen, Hannover ideally, so that i can smoke and their secondaries can do work while I just annoy the enemy with constant rainbow arcs of HE spam.

You can just skip to the bottom of the tech tree and research the TX, it will research all the proceeding ships and modules. Saves you from clicking through each ship.

I dont like the harugumo in solo randoms cause its not a ship for dd fighting and thats what you always have to do to win or at least have a chance to win. It performs very well as a farmer in a div with shima or daring as a scout.

My most recent unlocked T10 and I have to say im having a hard time doing well. Which is kinda frustrating since I have a 70% WR in Aki (well ofc its broken I know) and a 60% in Kita. But for Haru I have 48% so far and I really dont know why

I was informed by someone that locking your aim and holding left click yields less DPM when compared to actively double clicking every salvo. Is there any truth to this?

The first method is good for looking around while shooting, obviously the Dpm will be lower because you don't correct your aim. In reality shooting your guns one at a time is better because you see the trajectory at all times and don't waste damage.

seeing the non-perfect games is better viewing than just seeing the high scoring games where everything goes right. when you show games where you don't get focused, and you get to play from the flank with the weak enemy players, it doesn't show us how to maybe handle the hard games that we all get more often than the dream games.

as far as epicenter and arms race go, the team that wins the DD battle at the beginning and controls the cap or buffs wins most games. it's all about the team that has DDs willing to spot, with other players willing to support the DDs. once you gain the spotting control the other team is forced to play back, and they never get any of the buffs. the only way for the DD dominate team loses is if they start going YOLO stupid and charging the enemy one at a time just to die and lose.

its sad the people think aki kita and haru have bad aa they have good long range and mid range aa its the short range thet most see as thats when they get spotted by planes i wold turn on the aa in some cases if im in a spot were most can not shoot me ie next to an island or just out of range the aa has 100% hit chance on long mid and flak and most of the planes you shot done were not fighters only the first group had fighters from what i sow edit: only six of those planes in the first match were fighters

it resets every 3 months so I prefer to reset the line I like to play (to hindenburg or yamato and keeping commanders for every ship on tier v-x) It's always fun to play different tiers than 8 and 9 :) I'm not wasting free xp due I want to get Hayate :)

The fun thing about the 17k build is people still act like you're going to melt them. Often find a massive exclusion zone around me that no one wants to go into. Which can be useful in itself I guess even if it's no fun.

I just had a btattle, permanently spotted by CV. After 7 minutes 31 planes down. And 12km radar cancer everywhere. Then there is minotaur and you don't expect it to be radar setup. Just annoying. I doubt harugumo is strong enough.

I ended up grinding the shima line over the haru cuz its so brain dead to get to shima i dont realy play japan that much the only things that catchin my eyes are akizuki at tier 8 and shima cuz i dont realy play bbs or he spamin cruisers more of a dd main my self i realy enjoyed playing from kagero to shima grind was ez and alotta fun trolling people with that insane concealment is kinda nasty once i start play clan battles i might farm the haru line for some B points i want that thic booty ohio

In regards to arms race: if the buffs weren't permanent it would change the entire dynamic. If they only lasted for say, 45 seconds and went away, i dont think the rolls would happen as much. Putting them all in the center at the start of the match encourages bad DD players to just full send it, like that foolish Shima. Also, the player quality has gone way down in the last year and a half or so, which leads to way more rolls. Edit: and Slava is fantastic. Fires just arent consistent with this ship, with IFHE which you cant convince me not to run I landed 600 shell hits (all HE) and didnt get a single fire.

i regret getting the vamp ll , it has so low hp, no heal, it is usually just dieing like a fly if you get spotted for 2seconds. the hydro is a joke, i rather play any other DD lol. Even the yolo emilio is a better dd in my eyes.

I don't think I'll play gumo these days; there are better gunboats that have 1. A heal and 2. Better maneuverability.

to me, i absolutly hate the arms race.. i think they shouldn't add any game mod after removing the epicenter, until they would come up with something good. domination and standard are fine.. no need for 3rd game mod..

It should be required that the only vids featuring a DD have a CV in it, because really, unless you are in a halland 98% of the queues are with CVs. Yeah, no video will ever show a successful game, but thats how it really is. If you are in a halland though, the matchmaker will very rarely put you in a war with a CV. When I run halland I have to bring a division mate that uses a CV just so that I can be in a war with a CV.
