Enjoyed the video and need to check out that area. We clipless riders have all been there - laying on the ground still clipped to the bike. Even the President got to experience it, but he might not remember it. Don't give up on them, they'll do a wonderful job keeping you connected and upright on the rough stuff.

will always like a BP/Chestnut video. Nice fall w/ the clips

Yeah the easy release cleats are way easier to deal with but dang I’m still not comfortable and I made a point to rock clips every ride this summer! Might have to bail

That looks fun I got to check this out sometime when I'm healed up

Great video dude. I still haven't made it out there. So much negativity online early on with the lack of trails I guess. But now it looks like there's enough there to make a day of it??? On the clipless, I basically began mountain biking on clipless pedals and I never got used to them. Maybe my setup was wrong, but I had so many stupid falls. From parking lot falls in front of families to falls off small cliffs. My confidence was no good on gnarly stuff because I just couldn't bail properly with confidence. I went to flats and will never ever consider going back. I started hitting stuff that I wouldn't hit on the clipless pedals. Keep up the good work!

Yeah I feel more confident on flats in slow speed tech but more confident on clips jumping and going fast. I think if I go with the Mallet DH pedals next time that’ll be ideal cuz I can be not clipped in but have a huge flat pedal beneath me, basically

This place is shaping up great. It reminds me of like... a different flavor Rocky Knob? Idk. I do know, I gotta get out there to try it out! Nice showcase of the new trail my guy.

Eh it’s way less technical than Rocky Knob but it is as steep and the climb is as long, at least it feels that way. But going downhill it’s a lot like Fire Mountain - have you been?

@@DescentAtBest no I haven’t. I’ve got a growing list of places to check out. NC is really an awesome place for us mountain bikers!

Can you add any insight to the climb to the trailhead. I'm not much for climbing getting up to berm park has me walking parts of the climb.
@JWO1965 Жыл бұрын
Then you aren’t going to like getting to lady bird because it’s up up up for another 1-1/2
@DescentAtBest Жыл бұрын
Yeah the climb to berm park is the worst. Then there’s a .75 mile climb after which is significantly easier to the next signage. But then it gets tougher again for the final .75 and I honestly walk all of that.
@rwogmtb-ridingwitholdguy Жыл бұрын
@@JWO1965 You are probably right. I’m an old guy from FL, but I am stubborn enough to walk my way up for a fun ride down.
@rwogmtb-ridingwitholdguy Жыл бұрын
@@DescentAtBest Thanks for the input. Looks like it is worth the climb, I’ll just be slow going up.
@JWO1965 Жыл бұрын
Do you climb on past lady bird?
@DescentAtBest Жыл бұрын
No it’s actually before ladybird a little bit do you don’t have to climb as much
@Twotom1 Жыл бұрын
If you continue on Papertown Express past LB you're climbing to Champion, a double-black.
