Another variation on spaghetti is to use beef shanks instead of ground beef. Using Lawry 's spaghetti seasoning boil shanks till tender (fall off the bone do not remove bones ,marrow gives flavor), can of stewed tomatoes, diced onion,diced bell peppers add spaghetti to pot - the liquid from the meat will flavor the spaghetti and the spaghetti 's starch will thicken the mixture. This is best served with cornbread 😋, my family calls it " ghetto " spaghetti

My family has been making a version of chicken cheddar spaghetti for decades. No clue where the recipe came from, probably some magazine. It is somewhat similar, but has canned chicken, sautéed onion, pimento, jarred mushrooms, cheddar, cream of mushroom soup, and lots of garlic. Not at all healthy, but not much work and very tasty! 😂 I try not to make it often, but it is definitely a favorite comfort food from my childhood.

Interesting in the first part of the recipe where you sauted the vegetables added the flour stock and cream is very similar to how i make a unauthentic thai curry. Adding abit more oil and sauting some thai curry paste red/green/massaman with the vegetables, deglaze with stock, use coconut milk rather than cream add the slice/dice/shredded chicken. I use more stock 500ml and coconut milk 400ml and a dash of fish sauce for a more liquid sauce and serve with noodles or rice. Thanks for the recipe, i'll give it a try minus the rotel, hard to get in my region of the world and way overpriced, i'll just make my own vine tomato and green chilli, with canned chopped tomato and sauted dices green chill's.
