Having grown up in Houston myself, the one thing I recommend you get for your house is a generator for when the storms come rolling through. It was always nice having a backup power system for the house, so we could still have some basic things when the power would go out.

Been playing golf for a few years. Best advice I can give you is go get a couple of lessons. Just for your grip and swing. Your grip is the reason why you're slicing right so often. Get the issues fixed now before they've become to ingrained and will be harder to fix down the line. Also David/Joe are right, buy some off the shelf clubs now, spend a while developing the form etc, then get fitted. You wouldn't tell someone just learning to drive to learn in a formula one car.

This is the right answer. Get lessons before anything else. Then putting the work required to implement everything you learn in each lesson. Practice what you learned each lesson. A LOT. Don’t practice until you get it right, practice it until you can’t get it wrong. And this doesn’t mean you’ll hit every shot perfect, it means that you no longer are thinking about the movement. It is ingrained in your muscle memory.

Joe and David are right. No reason spending the cash and time on fitted clubs when the swing you get fit for will change as you progress in golf. You should get to a point where your golf swing is consistent and then the fitter can find areas that the equipment can help you improve. Plus, the clubs you put on the screen were all the "max" version which means the most forgiving. Most important is to just go out and have fun!

Joe and David are right about club fitting. Practice and get the swing consistent with some off the shelf clubs, then get fitted when you feel good about the swing.

I would get a set of decent used clubs, by descent I mean clubs that will last you and get your through your learning stage. Learn your swing and get swing tips from others and over time find what works best for you. Once you can finish a round and start to see consistency in your swing/ shots I then would go get fitted and find clubs similiar to the ones you had been using! When you line the ball with the club face, put the ball at the toe of the club. When you come back down it will be much more centred. Easy fix

I agree with David and Joe. Get a nice standard set of clubs from PGA superstore. Develop and your natural swing. In 2 years or so, get fitted for clubs that will enhance your game but tailored to your swing.

Hey Max. I’ve been golfing for 20 years. Slicing is the ball is one of the most common mistakes. I struggled with it for years. Try a lop sided stance. And what I mean by that is putting your left foot forward. Closer to the ball. And leaving your right foot planted where it normally would be. It will feel awkward at first but will help block out that slice and the ball going to the right side until you can get your mechanics right. Hope that helps. Golf is a humbling game lol 😆

Best advice for a beginner at golf is to get your grip squared away first. Lots of free videos on a good golf grip and for a lot of people it fixes the shanks to the right.

Just to start: Put your feet a little closer together, it’ll help you rotate and mean you don’t need to lift your left foot off ground in backswing making you more consistent. Golf is about rotating fast less whacking it with your arms. Right now because not rotating enough you’re slicing down on it like an ax rather than rotating through it like you’re a pole and your club head in the dancer. When you slice down on it you will always slice it right.
