The wind this year has been insane. I would love to get a drone but I'd be nervous as hell to crash it but here I am browsing ebay and Amazon all day looking at which drone to get.

Oh hell, that does look like fun. Especially the idea of pulling over and just flying from the car. Damnit, stop spending my money! 😂

Agreed. At one point, that was going to be the entire video, pulling over and launching from the car. 1, I don't know if these two interests (still photography and drones) really mix, and therefore maybe I need to start a separate drone channel, 2, the car blocks the signal just a bit, so you can't fly as far out as you could if you simply get out of the car, 3, I thought looking at the inside of the car might get boring after a few minutes. 🤷♂️

Great stuff, keep them coming! In case you’re looking for feedback, I love the drone stuff mixed in like this.

I know its a drone related video, but how have you found the R5 so far?

The R5 is great, truly. I have a few minor complaints, but I'm very happy with my decision. At this point in time, $4300 for a full-frame camera (for the R5 Mark II) just doesn't make any sense for me. For many people it does, I understand, video shooters, sports shooters, makes complete sense. But for me, more frames per second, faster autofocus, faster sensor readout speed, these things are irrelevant. Image quality is my main concern, and at R5M2 prices, I'd rather get something in the Fuji GFX100 / GFX100S line, with a 100 megapixel, 16-bit, larger than full-frame sensor. I may well buy an R5 Mark II in four years though. But yeah, I'm extremely happy with the R5.

You seem to be struggling with the whole “filming yourself taking photos” thing; at least it’s a has come up multiple times in your videos. My five cents on the subject is, do more of the filming through the viewfinder/ showing the live view/video feed. You’ve done this in some of your videos (e.g. “The Beauty and Mediocrity of Early Digital Cameras”, the RB67 video, but also in this one) It’s been what I most enjoy in your videos and why I first subscribed to your channel.(that and the rambling, soothing voiceovers) I get to see your process of searching for the image and the comparison between unedited and edited image. And it is by far the most original thing in your videos and I haven’t seen it anywhere else. Now I don’t know how much effort it is to film that way, but I’d certainly like to see more footage like that.

That's extremely helpful, exactly what I needed to hear (read / whatever). Yep, I'm lost, feeling pressure to film myself, but doing so (for whatever reason) sucks the joy out of the process. Thanks!

Yea, whatever you do, try to stray from the stuff that “sucks the joy out of the process”
